I recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2023 with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. My concern is how can the rapid interest-rate hike be of favor to a value investor, or is it better avoiding stocks for a while?

''buy the dip''. In the long term it will payoff. High interest rates usually mean lower stock prices, however investors should be cautious of the bull run, its best you connect with a well-qualified adviser to meet your growth goals and avoid blunder

The truth is that this is really not as difficult as many people presume it to be. It requires a certain level of diligence, no doubt, which is something ordinary investors lack, and so a financial planner often comes in very handy. My friend just pulled in more than $84k last month alone from his investment with his advisor. That is how people are able to make such huge profits in the market

Good presentation, I have tried some of these strategies, specifically some vertical spreads and Iron Condors. But remember the risk with short option positions. You are obligated to buy of sell. If your short option leg goes into the money, you can see that $$ amount withdrawn from your account. If you act quickly enough, hopefully you can sell the long option positions at profit to recapure the loss from the short positions being exercised.

Tried to close it to take profit those 3 times and never got to close it early. I even lowered the closing price and still nothing. 1 exp worthless and i only made like $6 off the other one when it finally closed on exp. Instead of $46 that i would of made. Not sure if i did some thing wrong here? Or why was it so hard to close it?

Henry, great video. One question -- looks like in the first example you're setting up a Butterfly and the risk profile (max profit compared to max loss) is very attractive, around 10x. But how did you pick the strikes for your upper and lower call buys? The ones you selected made for a huge profit potential compared to the loss potential, but how do you know the probability of the underlying staying within that range until expiration? I tried a few examples in Think Or Swim (not live trades, just setups to see what TOS would say in terms of probabilities), and in the examples I tried, the probability of price staying in that range was around 5 or 6%. That very low probability of success doesn't justify the profit / loss ratio, so I must be missing something. Can you clarify? Thanks

Greetings mate, Most newbies usually undermine and neglect the importance of technical analysis with regards to trading. Technical analysis overly predicts the movement of assets prices regardless of what is happening in the wider or broader market. Essentially, the education involves studying the paths of a particular asset movement in this past so as to establish a sustainable pattern that can be used to predict future movement of an asset. Doing technical analysis can be quite different which is why most newbies / traders neglect day trading their stocks/ coins and stick to holding which is very dangerous as when the market goes bearish, advise any newbies / traders to buy the dip for traders who are still wondering to enter the market or old time traders who are holders to seek help from not just any trader but an established trading expert with at least 96% trade accuracy .I underwent series of trading loses l'd best not talk about before I was introduced to trading analyst..

When do you start to cut losses? or wait until they expire every time?

  • @TheThetaThree

Actually, with this kind of play, the losses are so marginal that they should almost be considered non-factors, since butterflies have TINY max losses. That said, you DO have to wait until expiration to reap the benefits of the SHORT contracts, since that's where the money is actually being made. In essence, these will look like unrealized losses and potentially still be unprofitable even if they are right in the sweet spot of the strikes and you still have quite a bit to go expiration wise. You pretty much need to wait for expiration day and hope that the stock is landing right in the middle. I liken butterflies to trying to find a needle in a hay stack - yes, the R:R's look fantastic, but that's because the probability is crap.

@@TheThetaThree Here is the huge issue for debit butterfly or condor, or general credit spread, it is not that simple debit when the stock end up falling inbetween your short and your long. Your short will be exercised but your long will expire worthless, then you are in trouble unless brokerage forces to sell your spread 1 hour prior close, like the certain free commission brokerage does.

I just came across your channel and so far I test this strategy once and ever since then I have multiple orders for the stocks that I am looking at. One this i struggle with and evidently, wasn't able to take advantage of is the peak of the tree. There were some moments where the stock was trading at the peak and I was trying to sell but it didn't work in my favor. Can you make a video on how to sell when the stock is at the peak of the tree (strategy)? Or can you answer it here? Please and thank you!!!!

It depends on the play. Stop losses can be valuable on credit spreads, but you have to bear in mind that on a credit trade, if it's set up properly, the odds are overwhelmingly in your favor, and the stock has to *work* to beat you on the trade. What kind of credit spread are you asking about specifically?

How do you set a stop loss on Robinhood? I know of one way to close at a price where it is at 75% loss or profit or whatever. But how do you know what that price is? If I received let's $100 in credit, that puts the price I got into the trade at $1 which means I want to close it (if trying to avoid big losses) at a limit price of let's say $1.5 which will be a 50% loss... is that right?

What happens when the call option you sold gets exercised in the money, but the call you bought expires outside of the money? Are you able to buy the shares the following Monday or is the call option you bought automatically exercised out of the money?
