Almost all buyers are city drivers and aren't towing anything. AWD is more of a 'nice to have' feature rather than a necessity.

Agree - no point in asking questions like "is it better than a Sienna" if it doesn't have AWD. I hate the interior of the Sienna, but where I live AWD is a game changer

maybe this car is too long for AWD? they may dont want to spend money to redesign the chassis and create a new production line. and the AWD drivetrain system also encroaches on interior space.

The amount of extra storage we could get in the middle consol if manufacturers would put the shifter back on the steering column

No AWD is unacceptable. What was kia thinking? Hard pass for me. I'll buy this in a heartbeat if they bring out an AWD option.

took a kia 2024 carnival rental for a few days and was blown away. The last time i drove a kia was 5 years ago and it was a shoddy piece of work. it drives like an SUV, loved it. the 2025 version looks nice.

Wow, now with hybrid trim. This changes everything.

I honestly prefer the pre-facelifted Carnival. This new face is bland and anonymous. Otherwise, nice design overall. Upscale interior. I'll be so happy when manufacturers find something else to use instead of gloss black plastic that shows every spec of dust and scratches so easily.

Sienna is ancient, compared to ultra-modern Carnival. Sienna is for old people and Carnival is for cool people 😎.

If this van got AWD and a bigger engine, I am sold. 1.6T hybrid shall be absolutely adequate for Sportage, but Santa Fe and this shall got a bigger engine like 2.0T hybrid. 1.6T hybrid for this can is underpowered, and the turbo gasket longevity might be questionable.

You're forgetting the electric motor that is also assisting.

Well, a 1.6 L turbo is going to be a lot to be pushing around that nearly 5000 pound vehicle. Yes it does have the hybrid system to help give it a little extra boost when needed but that is a lot of minivan for such a small displacement! Also Completely missed opportunity, for an all wheel drive minivan for hybrid or the gas version. My guess the gas mileage combined for that vehicle may be 27 miles per gallon. Maybe 29 if you are really easy on it. But all you have to do is look at the Kia Sportage hybrid and you will get your mileage from that motor because it is the same motor and transmission but you have a lot more weight with this minivan, I will say absolute great design on the interior and exterior .

@@LetMeCook86 at best with absolute egg under the accelerator pedal driver! The Hyundai Santa Fe hybrid with the same . 1.6 L turbo only average 30 miles per gallon and the van is going to weigh significantly more than that.

I agree. KIA/Hyundai need to consider implementing a 2.5L hybrid engine on the bigger hybrid/phev lineups. For their car lineup like the Kona/Niro, Tuscon and Sportage can stay at a 1.6L engine... but whatever. When the Carnival is due for a redesign, I hope that the Carnival will get a really good AWD, PHEV/HEV model 3-4 years from now.

If it had an AWD option, this would beat A sienna easily.

Toyota Sienna will always have a better hybrid system (cough cough, HSG, cough cough) and it is better on paper because it offers AWD. AWD might not offer much practical advantage, but Americans sure do love it. Kia sure does make a great looking minivan and having it in a hybrid makes it more competitive, but a big misstep to not offer it in AWD as well. Sienna still wins.

Great looking vehicle but no AWD. Major Fail. I’m not sure why, when it sits on the same platform as the Kia Sorento… Kia help us out????

Outside of potential reliability and maybe front storage compartments, I'm having a hard time seeing why you'd buy a Toyota Sienna over this 🤔

Hyundai-Kia is twice more reliable than Toyota. Hyundai-Kia's warranty is 10 years but Toyota's is only 5 Years. Jeep's warranty is only 5 years, too. I would never buy from automaker that cannot beat Jeep's warranty.

1.6L for a vehicle that big? Nope! That hybrid model needs a bigger 2.5 Turbo instead!

Will never buy that kind of heavy and massive car with 1.5 turbo I-4 engine, no way ! Last time I drove the 2024 cr-v base with 1.5 turbo 4 cylinders but I was Totally disappointed with the sound and the power. You can clearly notice that engine was pushing too much!

Kia should stay top of the electric cars option for everyone around the one. Meaning KIA should make Carnival into full electric as Toyota, Honda doesn’t even has one yet.

The design in 2024 was better. For 2025, it seems they simply followed the instructions of executives who don't understand design: "Make it more intricate and complicated." A good design is clean, with lines that follow the flow. Nowadays, cars are a mess. I refuse to buy a Sienna simply because it's ridiculous with those abruptly changing direction lights that try to emulate a jet turbine. It's childish.
