2025 BMW X7 in-depth Walkaround
The 2025 BMW X7 starts at $84,675 and offers a range of powerful engines. The entry-level X7 xDrive40i is equipped with a 375-horsepower turbocharged inline-six-cylinder engine. For those seeking more power, the M60i model features a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 engine producing 523 horsepower. At the top of the lineup, the Alpina XB7 comes with a specially tuned version of the V-8 engine, delivering an impressive 630 horsepower. All engine options are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Every X7 is equipped with an air suspension system featuring adaptive dampers, and the chassis can be further enhanced with available rear-axle steering and active anti-roll bars to reduce body roll in corners.
Inside the X7, the dashboard is dominated by a massive, slightly curved digital display. This panel includes a 12.3-inch gauge cluster for the driver and a 14.9-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system. The cabin is replete with luxury features such as heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and ambient interior lighting. However, we found the power-operated second-row captain's chair to be frustratingly slow when moving to allow access to the third row. Additionally, the third-row seats are not particularly spacious for adults on long journeys.
In terms of dimensions, the 2025 BMW X7 has a wheelbase of 122.2 inches, a length of 203.6 inches, a width of 78.7 inches, and a height of 72.2 inches. The passenger volume is 58 cubic feet in the front, 50 cubic feet in the middle, and 34 cubic feet in the rear. The cargo volume measures 90 cubic feet behind the front seats, 49 cubic feet behind the middle row, and 13 cubic feet behind the rear seats. The curb weight of the X7 is 5,545 pounds.
