2024 - Yamaha TRICITY - In Depth Review

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Part 2 of my Ride Review of the 2024 Yamaha Tricity Trike.
Yes it is in fact a three wheeled machine that can be ridden on a Car Licence due to the spacing of the front wheels being over 460mm.
Let me know your thoughts in to this bike and if you would ride it without a motorcycle licence to get you on two wheels.
Again, big thank you to the team at Crescent Yamaha in Southampton for supporting my channel.

I have the 2023 version of this bike and as you said, it's amazing! I choose it because of my commute to work where parking is horrible. In traffic you have to be a little careful because it's still wide and heavy but other than that, it's an easy bike to ride. Mine goes 135km/h and when you're lucky you can get to 140km/h. Fast enough to get on the highway between cities. From 100 to 120 will take a little time as you said but it works fine. The downside of this bike is because it's a big boy, you'll catch a lot of wind. So a heavy headwind will slow you down a little and side winds you will feel those. Riding the 2023 version for 8 months now i can say it's a somehow forgiving bike. Yes it will let you know when you are going to do something wrong like high speed in a corner but you still can handle it. As far for the stand assist, that is how Yamaha calls it, it can keep it up right but it's not locking the suspension like the MP3 is doing. This means you still can lean a bit, most of the time i don't use it as also for the brake pedal. In all i am pretty happy with it and for anyone who want to try this thing or want to buy for commuting and don't mind the wind and rain once in a while, get one! You'll get used to it pretty quickly and know what it can en can't do. Never go cheap on a helmet and buy a full face one if you want to keep your chin. With a good motorjacket and pants, you can ride almost all year through, at least that is what i do. Cheap on gas too and in winter you'll get the 3.3l/100km and you can get as low as 2.9l/100km in the summer. Parking is not a problem where i live and you can park it on the sidewalk. The advise i can give is always put it either on the side stand or the center stand. Yes it can stand on "stand assist" but because the suspension is not locked, it still can go side to side a little. The head lights and rear light are LED but the indicators and plate light are lightbulbs. I changed my indicators to LED indicators at my dealer. In all, a nice big with a very nice "face".

Yep high 5. A tip, if you park it with the side stand use your stand assist to lock it at that angle. 2023 you should have a recall upgrade for stand assist but I have not experienced any problems with it releasing but I only use it for parking or wheeling it around. Going up the motorway I was getting blown around at 70 mph, in the next lane a guy on a tourer went past at 73 mph steady as a rock then I noticed his jacket didn’t move. The problem was I had a lined bomber jacket that trapped air and he had a laminated fitted jacket so I went and got a BKS set, I use it all year round 44 miles round trip. The agility of this bike is great on the Uk twisty roads and highways with only one hello from the traction control going round a roundabout in December on stock tyres but it was 5a.m and outsmarting a car. Due to the roads in your country I would expect it would seem slow. If you need a little more pick up change the rollers and a 400 barrel is available but I would say why do all that Jaz when you can just pass your test. The real question is what other bike can you ride on a car license, on a motorway in any lane, give 80 mpg, put your gear under the seat and walk free, reliable, ABS, Traction Control, maintains speed 2 up and shield your legs from the cold in winter?

After trying all 3 wheels here in france, I tried and buy my first tricity. For winter in Alps with snow tires it is just perfect. My 650 sport moto for 7 months and my tricity for winter. I fill on my tricity like on my bike. That is my second now 😂 I love it❤

Great review I have a 21 model takes a while to get used to using the stand assist you definitely need to make sure the bike is level when taking of I fired the lower seat makes a big difference but i get 85+ mpg most of the time it looks wide but it's great for filtering mirror to mirror tips its the same width as my vespa gts300 have ridden motorcycles from 1970 90cc to 1400cc still have bmw r850r new model bsa 650 but this is a perfect urban touring machine

Thanks for the video.I have Tricity since 30 of March. It is a good bike. But the Vertical Station Assistance is gadget, ONLY useful when you stop on a parking to go by feet, or at home. Other else, at a stop line or red light or traffic jam, I do not use it anymore. I used to. Why I do not use it? I noticed 2 problems. First : you can only activate VSA @ 10km/h or less. It is at the limit of the equilibrium with such a weight (240kg only for the bike). When you attempt to reach this speed (or less) you play left/right/left/right/left... etc... with the handlebar, because it becomes hard to be balanced. Second: when you activate (or disactivate) VSA, the beep is really too loud! This really a nightmare. For sure, everybody look at you, even in their cars! Yamaha should allow modification of level of this feature. I will soon disconnect it! The orange witness light is enough to remind us it is activated. Be AWARE, for people who are going to TEST this bike, when you are still, with VSA engaged and start again on your way, HOLD very FIRMLY your handlebar, because YOU are the MASTER of the bike, and not the opposite. If you don't hold very firmly, the bike will go in the direction where the two front wheels are "looking at"! Your wheels are NEVER perfectly looking 100% straight in front of you. There are always a few degrees of dissymmetry. AND THOSE DEGREES will make the bike to go where it wants! I saw some people trying it for first time, and they got some fears when starting with VSA engaged! Some place for storage are missing under the cockpit ;-) but under the seat, there is enough space, hopefully. I sold my Fazer 600 2001 for this scooter. I am happy with it. I don't drive a bike anymore, I "dance" with it !

Like my Tricity 125 l have had for a short while .the only fault l have found is that the suspension is very hard it doesn't like bumps or potholes

Lots of people hace come a cropper on these and other 3 wheelers brands. My mate runs a bike garage and told me about this. . You need to be dead straight and upright on stopping to arm stand assist. Otherwise it will lean on release and these bikes aint lite. They actually lean well on cornering. Nice and comfy ride. Did a 120mile run and no aches and pains. Did 100 on my mates vintage 350 ypvs and hsd sore back when i got off. Stiff for an hour

Probably. It depends on the individual. If you can drive a car & ride a regular scooter, you shouldn't have a problem.

Do you not need to take a CBT before riding this trike?

  • @RevZolution

    @RevZolution

    2 ай бұрын

No not at all as its not a motorcycle, its a trike and if you've got a full car licence then you can ride it. However, I would strongly suggest doing a CBT just so you get some tuition on a "motorcycle" but it is just a trike and nothing other than a Full car licence required

Get yourself to a riding school and get them to teach you the basics on a small lightweight bike. This is heavy and has no stability just like a normal bike so it's not going to be easy to ride due to its weight if you're nervous

Rubbish try opening the throttle, stop comparing it to the bike you just got off, motorway any lane, don’t use upright brake just put your foot down and just use that when your parking or wheeling it back and forth. Try a 0 to 60, this bike goes down the M1 motorway any lane 6 days a week and delivers 80 mpg at 73 mph. And why use the foot brake use the left brake man. This bike has been tested on a 250 mile per day trip for 1500 miles with 0 problems and loaded. That’s a 2 year review so stop reviewing something on a test ride then you will give honest advice instead of a slapdash comparison.
