Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Minor cosmetic, ergonomic, and electronic updates have refined one of our favorite motorcycles into an even more well-rounded machine. Here, Troy gives the updated MT-09 a spin around the tech capital of the world. But it still leaves us wondering when an R9 will be released.

The reason for the indicators being old school is error and warning indicators need to be functional even if there is a screen issue. Something goes wrong with the TFT and you can still see what is going one with vital systems.

I just had an SW-Motech luggage rack installed on my '20 MT-09, it looks very neat and "streamlined" without the carrier plate, and with it I can strap a decent size duffel bag securely to the rack. So yes, it works for touring as well!

@@arjenbootsma6881 I have a 22 Kawi Ninja 1000 SX. Great sports tourer. Hard to do long days on open highways on a naked like the MT. Even with a windshield and fairings on mine, anything over 400 miles and strong wind beats you up, can imagine how an MT would fare. I see this MT being an awesome bike for canyons commuting and short weekend trips.

@@ehiggins7476 I have ridden both, and I own a KTM currently (a 1290 Super Adventure S, but I want to go lighter). The 990 was very good and very impressive (but not at all a mini Super Duke, in my opinion). At the same price point, the comparison would be very tight, with a KTM sportier overall, more precise and most certainly more of a weapon for the twisties, or very fast riding. BUT the pricing of the 990 is insane (I mean 4000 € more insane, even with the Tech Pack offered these days in Europe). The MT-09 that I tested was truly enjoyable and very lively. It seems like a good fit for me and my use, and I'm even comfortable bringing it on track this summer. I am in the process of purchasing the base model after 3 KTMs (a SMT and two SAS, and no reliability issue with them). If need be, I'll throw a rear shock and fork springs, or cartridges, along the way. Maybe a steering damper would be the first mod? And then this bike will be near perfect (for me) for less than an SP (whose color scheme I don't like).

I’m looking at the MT09 and the KTM 990. Both would meet my wants and needs. The KTM 990 looks great in reviews but it is a KTM and I personally know several riders who have missed major portions of the riding season with their KTM bike in the shop for extended periods of time. There is nothing cool about that. The 990 is an all new bike. The vast majority of it is changed from previous models and KTM makes a point of that. Is that a good thing from a brand whose bikes are not that reliable? I already don’t like the 2024 MT09 TFT display. Yamaha reliability and dealer network is better KTM. I guess I can live with the TFT and hope for a software upgrade.

KTM990, "a little bit more expensive"? Try list price of $12,500USD vs MT09 at $10,599USD. IDK, that's $2K right there. Where is the quickshifter and tech controls...Ohhh free for 1500K (932miles )then you have to pay extra for the performance and track pack plus labor to program into your 990's brain. Hard to get any exact prices but I'm guessing you're looking at $1,100 to $1500 USD so yeah, try a little bit more expensive to the tune of $3000K + whilst the new MT09 gives you all of that at $10,599 (plus destination charge) which you also have to add to the 990 too but won't find unless you contact a KTM delear. I believe it's $575 for the MT09. So now comes the question; is the KTM990 Duke that much better? So far it, it doesn't seem so, unless you are looking for a track bike, or just prefer a super twin engine and KTM bikes. 2024 MT09 uber alles!!

Done by an experienced Pro, the optimised fuelling without the stock limitations along the 13,25 line transforms the bike (for best results, swap the stock exhaust and air filter first for some performance items) considerably - you could call it a „day and night“ experience… My current, ultra-agile 2020 SP (weighing in at 181,5 kgs) with some „extra power“ and updated braided steel brake lines / track & road brake pads works extremely well on any mountain pass 🔥🏁 The gen4 SP will be a worthy successor next year, looking forward to converting again this bike into something special 😅
