If you're looking at expectations, take the injuries into account as well. Expectation is relative to the players. Serbia can't be disappointing in that regard as well but it wasn't A team, Turkey had many injured players etc. You have a very specific way of defining "expectation"

It’s like insane to me the platform they have with close to 0 knowledge about women’s volleyball. Perfect example being when you mentioned that you can’t think of a SINGLE 6 rotation opposite on a good team. The national freshman of the year was a 6 rotation opposite. There were 5 FIRST TEAM ALL AMERICAN 6 rotation opposites this year. Literally 5!!!! That’s so insane 😭😭 this isn’t even mentioning the other 2 on the other all American teams. do better. I’m not even gonna bother addressing the countless other errors made here and there because that says enough….

You are saying that you are grading based on expections but then u give USA B-?

Didn't watch before TR and US grades since have to get ready for work But fully agree with all comments for both teams. You're right, here in Türkiye folks are easily giving them an F. But B- for US is a bit high. As a dual citizen I feel like both of my countries let me down by giving me such inconsistent play that even for the matches they won, it was difficult/boring/frustrating to watch.

How can Italy and Japan receive the same grade? I mean, come on, Japan had a good run. However, China sent their B squad for the finals, japan was 8-4, and they clearly had no chance against Italy. Italy was toying with. YET, they both get As?

They are rating based on expectations, like no one would think that Japan would go to finals but Italy was expected to go to finals. Even tho Italy was a favorite they were so dominant against big teams so that's why they deserve the A and then theres Japan who beat Turkey when they were ranked 1st with over 20+ wins in a row and then they also beat Brazil who was ranked 1st and they had like over 10+ wins in a row, so Japan deserves the A, honestly to me they are A+ that's how good they were this tournament.

As a Turk, I agree with your letter grade. However we had soooo many injuries throught the year. Here is Turkiye injury report card so far: 1- Vargas injured her already problematic shoulder and had to stay 5 months off court. She had also stomach problems in the 3rd week of VNL 2- Eda had an ankle injury during club season as well and had to stay off the court for some time (this maybe even cost Fenerbahçe a final ticket in CEV) and played without completely healing during play offs. She finally got the full treatment she needed during 1st week. But due to her age, she needed more time to get in shape. Also, a day before Poland match, after the practice, she was seen with an ice pack taped around her shoulder and ankle 3- Derya was in Japan for the club season, everything was good until she had herniated disc problem. She lost all her progress from the 2023 summer and even regressed (gaining weight, not playing for a couple of months). She is back on track now though, if she can pass better. Also, a day before Poland match, after the practice, she was seen with an ice pack taped around her knee 4- Zehra had to play with her chronic shoulder injury (more than she did in the past year in Vakifbank, due to lack off success of the club. Guidetti should burn in hell for making her play in pain). Zehra expressed she could not hit a ball or reach up to block without feeling pain. During the short holiday she finally got the treatment she needed only to get a serious knee injury. As a result she was not present in the 3rd and final week of VNL 5- Hande had a leg muscle injury during Japan game (the first match) and had to rest for the rest of the 1st week. For the 2nd week she was also out due to a neck injury. First two of the matches of 3rd week, she played really good (best scorer on the team) only to feel a pain in her abdomen during China match. She was not risked by Santa and even got sent home to get treatment, she wasn't in the finals. 6- İlkin had a leg injury during 1st week, she was on the bench. She got better and recently Santa expressed in an interview that she had a very good training session but at the end of it twisted her ankle and that was that. She did not play for the rest of the tournament. Even during the Poland match, you could see her with an icepack around her ankle 7- Gizem had shoulder pains during 3rd week. She was walking around with ice taped on it 8- If I am not mistaken Elif had a minor leg problem on two separate occassions. And had a little ankle injury during club season 9- On Texas part of the tournament, everywhere was so cold. So many players got sick including Simge and Aslı. Simge also had a face injury and had to play with a mask nearly all club season 10- Beyza was seen with an ice pack taped around her knee, a day before Poland match, after the practice 11- Last but not least I know it is not injury but Ebrar played the longest club season play offs. She played quarter finals of 3 matches. And semis and finals 5 matches. She rested only a handful of days before joining the team and it was not enough 12- On the day of Poland match, Türkiye only had 2 healthy OHs, Ebrar and Derya. Derya was terrible in passing that day and got benchex. Tuğba had to step in and play with an injury Santarelli also said so many unplanned injuries had affected and prohibited his choices. We had to deal with so many difficulties all the while trying to get in shape for Paris Suffice it to say Team Türkiye have evil eye on them and half of the failure comes from that

B- for the US? Why not A+ because it is the US... So biased

You guys are just biased and want to make shocking statement just for sake of outrage 😂😂😂 not a single Turkish volleyball fan will tell you they are happy with this performance but at least be reasonable & mention all the problem team had going into VNL? HALF of this team was injured & all of them were key players 😊 eda, Vargas, zehra, hande & so on & on 😊 they had one of the worst fixtures in the tournament, going from turkey to us and than to china & than to Thailand 😊 while some other teams you ranked high were chilling in china for 2-3 weeks 😊 Keep underestimate them 😊 I will be back to see y'all reviews of Olympics game 😊 and just as usual you will be saying something completely opposite to this bullshi* 🤣

Such a biased assessment. You cannot use “expectation” as a benchmark…it is very subjective!
