Tebogo's headspace was clearly far from this race, I'm sure he contemplated pulling out of this meet. He lost his MOM today. (He's just 20, and now he's got his 12-yr-old sibling to take care of.) My sincerest condolences to the family. Not taking anything away from Kyree King's effort, but this was literally a bad day for Tebogo.

I remember when a top runner at UCLA ran 44.5 for 440 yards 1971 and that’s equivalent to 44.2, 400 meters. That’s almost 50 years ago, yet we are thrilled when runners run the same times today? I don’t think any runner will break the Olympic / World record in the 400 meters for about the same number of years. Even Wade van Niekerk who ran 43.03 hasn’t come close since then. Yes I am aware he injured his knee and hasn’t been the same since BUT plenty of 400 meter runners have had a chance to break it but still have not. Cross our fingers 2024 Olympics.

I have said this before about Tebogo: He will pay a price for in the same season repeatedly try to sprint world class times over 100-400 meters, instead of either running 100-200 m; or 400 m - either he will get injured, or be fading (due to fatigue), or both!

I'm gonna be honest here..... I'm not sure Tebogo has the MENTAL strength needed to be as good as everybody says he is gonna be, including myself, when it's all said and done? It's like he's missing a certain "Element" mentally at times and at first I thought it was simply a young phenom needing to learn.... but it don't seem to be changing much? It's like he's missing that Killer Instinct that ALL great champion sprinters possess? Idk?? Maybe I'm wrong here...🤔 Guess only time will tell, and Paris will definitely be a huge indicator of this theory.
