They still only scored 87 points. The world is different, but endless 3s when they are dropping it’s great. When they don’t hit it’s unwatchable. The Celtics big three were putting more points up in the playoffs than this Celtics did this year. They also played way more physical. Some of the players you talked about would have never held up back in the day.

I love that Colin says these guys aged gracefully considering LeBron, KD, and Steph won a grand total of 1 playoff game.

Dream Team played defense, rebounded, were great passers and scored a ton of points in transition. The competition is far better now than it was in ‘92, but that team was loaded. At least three guys who are top ten all time, granted Bird was on his way out. If you don’t think a matchup between the ‘24 team and ‘92 team would be a toss up game, you’re crazy. Only five can play at a time and most teams only go eight deep in tight games. Any betting person would take the Dream Team.

Even though Lebron, Durant, and Steph are past 35, they are still very productive and have not completely slowed down as they all did make it to an All-NBA Team selection. We have to remember during those time, nba players past 34 were not as good with the exception of Michael Jordan and there were rapid signs of decline after 28 years old. Lebron at any age is better than Magic Johnson particularly in scoring and shooting. The big men of AD and Joel Embiid are far more athletic and better defenders than Patrick Ewing and David Robinson, who got annihilated by Hakeem Olajuwon in 95.

Saying Bill Russell or MJ aren't comparable in talent to today's players is asinine and does a disservice to both generations. Caitlin Clark is definitely not getting enough credit. Some people in the WNBA media and Angel Reese fans really want to make it this competitive thing. It’s not. It’s not even close. Caitlin Clark is on a completely different level when it comes to skill, not to mention Style of play, which is exciting and what is drawing in all the new eyeballs. These new eyeballs are helping everybody else’s bottom line. From getting the league charter flights, viewership up across-the-board, ratings will turn into dollars. People are able to sign bigger endorsement deals, and in effect because everybody’s tuning to watch Caitlin Clark, all the other girls are having to step up their game. I swear they’re gonna try to give this Angel girl the rookie of the year award, and sadly it has nothing to do with basketball. We all understand why. 🥴

And about those TURNOVERS, a lot of them is because her teammates can’t handle her passes, she drops a dime of a pass right on the money and her teammates drop it, in the NFL that drop would be on the receiver BUT in the NBA that drop is on the quarterback/point guard, hence CC high turnover STATS.

Lazy comparison he didn't even talk about Jordan, Barkley, Malone or Drexler (who finished second in mvp voting in 92).

The only issue about this era-yes everyone is skilled-but everyone plays like a 1 regardless of position. You still need the bigs to play like bigs, not just everyone shoot 3s. A 3-point shootout with no defense is not that fun

What a brain dead take. This current 2024 team is an older team. He keeps comparing Pippen to Tatum but HOW ABOUT JORDAN IN HIS PRIME? Literally no one on this squad can compete with that. He's comparing like the 5th best player on the original Dream Team to arguably the best player in the 2024 team. Meanwhile Lebron is 40. Even Clyde Drexler in 91-92 had crazy numbers. Ewing, David Robinson, Barkley, Karl Malone, Jordan - all in their primes.

Pippen could play great defense on your best defender in 92 with the bulls (not blazers) and he didn’t palm carry the ball like Tatum and todays players do (at least not all the time). More varied game back then

The thing is their both breaking records their both impacting winning so its hard to punish one. It is close and Angel do have a case but we might not ever see another CC. Objectively, CC needs to get her team into the playoffs. A month ago, I would've said CC is a lock. Now, with the double-double streak, if Angel gets her team into the playoffs, I don't think CC will get it. I know Colin doesn't care, but the turnovers might be her undoing. Plus, and this is key, the coach isn't doing her any favors by pulling her off the court at the end of games for defensive purposes.

Where Colin was wrong....

Colin is the guy who will say with a straight face: “Taylor Swift is better than Led Zeppelin. Great product!”

Caitlin is responsible for more points (points and assists) than any other player in the WNBA.

about 9 years in Dwight had that back surgery and was never the same. Dwight would have still been dominant even with the league changing.

Tatum and Pippen are tied for me. If Pippen played in todays era he would shoot more threes and he was a much much better defender

Right they either say she turns the ball over soo much or her defense is bad. To be fair her effort can be horrible at times on defense I can't lie. But they say these things without actually watching the games and they can see half her turnovers are teammates and the other half are her bad passes.

@@90Deyon Yes, her teammates contribute to her TOs, but as a point guard you adjust your game to make better passes to them. That's what I want to see -- making good passes. She can't make three bad passes for every "highlight" pass.

This is one of the worst takes in history.

Good argument Colin, but Jameis Winston is highly productive with the turnovers and the media including you killed him. 😂 He can go toe to toe with anyone in a shootout. You just have to expect him to give the ball away. He’s been relegated to a backup now and doesn’t get the grace from the 30/30 5,000 yards year. The nfl media made the gm’s and coaches make him the sacrificial lamb.

This team just played Australia and won by just 6 points…

The Dream Team is the only team that is still the standard in their sport. It’s still the standard, it’s still the comparison that will never come close. It's not a standard the teams they played back then are not the teams of today. Every country today has at least 3-4 great to good players on there team. We not blowing out teams by 50 or 60 like back then

Lots of Clark’s turnovers and due to her teammates fumbling good passes because they’re not used to getting passes from others. Clark’s assists would also be higher for the same reason: teammates miss easy/open shots. I think we’ll see both of these numbers improve as this team plays together more.

All true. That said, she makes some careless, lazy passes, and is too often lazy on defense, especially in transition. If she fixes those 2 issues she will soar.

@@garyco766been watching her on defense. She’s actually not bad. She’s always on the right position in defensive formations and eyes always on the ball. Problem is the fever as a team sucks on defensive formations. Weak defensive formation in the strong side a lot of times. Oh and despite that, CC managed to get 5 steals. Also blocked 3 shots last game and is now number 13 on the leaderboard for blocks league wide

I can see Colin is catching up with Biden real quick 😂

But here is what you are missing When the players on the dream team were growing up in the 70s there was no three-point shot They grew up in a time when the game was completely different and then they had to adjust to it In the two-point shot era Biggs didn't handle the ball and it took the game a long time for everybody to figure out that they actually could if they were taught to at a young age

Colin, so Aliyah Boston is chopped liver on the Fever? She was rookie of the year last year and is a major reason why the Fever win. She's the best player on the team. Once Clark gets those turnovers down, she'll definitely be in the convo for MVP in the future. She leads by a mile. Turnovers lead to more opportunities for the other team to score.

It's pointless to compare eras. The reason human beings are so fascinating is because we build upon the successes and knowledge of the people who came before us. Athletes are better at what they do now than in the eras before them, it is an indisputable fact. It is also an indisputable fact that we would have nothing now without the people that came before us. In 1999 Tony Hawk, arguably the greatest pro skater of all time landed a 900 for the first time after trying countless times and failing. Now there is a 9-year-old Japanese boy that can throw down three of them in a row like its nothing. There is no need to compare eras. Let them stand on their own and acknowledge the reality that we are better now because of those that came before us.

That music analogy completely missed the mark.

Ewing, awful on pick n roll defense. MJ and Pippen were the first wing players to expose that era’s bigs were too slow to defend in space. Instead of getting dunked on, they fouled. Ewing does have a hefty highlight reel of getting dunked on. All 3 of the Georgetown centers do. Great for the era, but that era was undeveloped skill wise and with do it all wings.

These random European teams have kept up with the USA teams for years so I think the 92 dream team also could and they'd give today's team a defense intensity they aren't use to.

There's a lot of people who were crying about her not being in the Olympics, many who couldn't name a single other WNBA player thinking they now have a serious opinion on women's basketball 😂. Yeah she gets enough credit.
