Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Hey Everyone!
As some of you will know, I managed to get out on the Royal Enfield Shotgun 650. On my first ride review that you can see here: • 2024 Royal Enfield Sho... - I wasn't able to really give it a good rogering and you guys asked for it to be ridden on some country lanes.
Ask and you shall receive!
I hope you enjoy!

I've been to the factory in South India. Man, you should see the smiles on their faces when you tell them their bikes are loved globally. They're not proud, just glad people love what they made. At great risk to my wallet, I have to admit that there are more good bikes coming very soon.
Awesome video! You certainly have some beautiful scenery, what a gorgeous country you live in. Revving the engine for the children was priceless! Please don't lose that childlike humor. It's charming. Best!
Have ridden motorcycles 90cc to 1400cc from 1970 so yes i have ridden many good handling motorcycles so i say this tester has got it right with her comments 100%
I was out on my 850 v7 stone and was a child even though I am 73 and did some bend swinging on my Italian stalion I feel 21 again lol
I bought one of these just as a weekend toy, I have the full seat on and don't see it as a cruiser or a bobber. It's a roadster, just like any Japanese bike I owned in the 80s and 90s. Simple basic road use bike, with decent handling. She is far too heavy to have sporty pretensions really, but has character by the ton. The sound and feeling of that engine is I why I bought it. If I'd wanted anything other than this as a play toy, I would have bought it!
Honest opinions are always more welcomed then sensationalist ones
All the 650cc Enfield can always do with a few opening up mods that give them a little more pep. New air filter and box mods and an upgraded exhaust to make it bark a little. I think the shotgun is the best looking. Thanks Kate for the review.
As a very happy owner of one of these bikes, I can say that I think they are fantastic, I love mine. It is definitely not a sports-bike, I don't that's a valid comparison. I think it's a cool, sporty, modern cruiser with some old-school style, and has the attitude and handling to make it more fun and nimble than a lot of cruisers. And keep that child-like playfulness and optimism - I love it, and we need more of it in the world!
Each to their own , I’ve got an-interceptor 650 bloody love it,
Username Asbo at it again, giving it revs for the kids 😂 Royal Enfield seem to be good at producing “a motorbike”. It might not be spectacular in any department but it’s pretty good at everything. Absolutely buttons to buy them as well. Really tempting for a lot of people, I’m sure.
Nice to see my roads on a review…I was riding those roads on my CCM spitfire a week ago…lucky to have Rivington on my doorstep. (Adlington).
Hope to get the chance to ride myself within a few weeks. Looking forward to it! Another great video Kate! 👍

Bikes are always best just being what they are rather than trying to be something else aren't they - just buy it for what it is! Thanks for the review Kate 👍
A great review Kate, anyone considering purchasing this model, will find your review answering the questions of performance, handling and comfort, all beautifully demonstrated, I really enjoyed the ride through some beautiful scenery, with your entertaining commentary!
I've had a stencil white Shotgun since the end of April after many, many years away from 2 wheels. Lets be honest, the only reason we are all mentioning the word "sporty" is because the press insist on placing labels on things, cruiser, bobber, cafe racer, supersport.... Is the Shotgun sporty? Well, it all depends on what you expect from it. If you've just stepped off of a CB125F then probably, yes. But if you're usual bike is an H2R then no. I think of it like a bottle of red. Do i buy the most expensive just because so wine boffin tells me about the "oaky, citrus notes" or do i just buy what i like? The Shotgun does absolutely everything i need it to do. For me, its just a toy for a weekend blast down to the coast. I'll never tour on it or ride it in the rain (i have a car for that). So no, in the true sense of the word, the Shotgun isnt a sports bike but, it's still more capable than it really should be. You're never gonna take it on a track day, as it's not made for that. However, how many times have i seen some full race suited wannabe proddy racer bottle it into a corner on his R1 and almost stick it in a ditch? As the saying goes "all the gear and no idea".

Exactly, you're 100% right. It all depends on a persons personal experience of motorcycles as to what their expectations are and how they think about a bike. That's why I always recommend people ride bikes for themselves and take KZreadrs reviews with a pinch of salt because other than us stating the facts about specs etc, people may feel a totally different type of way about a bike when it actually comes to riding it :)
Awesome review, actualy rly intersted in buying one soon. As a first bike!
Another great honest review 😊
It’s a lovely bike, great fit and finish, lovely engine and gear box. It handles nicely but it’s not a sports bike and I don’t think RE have ever said it’s a sports bike. Don’t knock this bike because someone misrepresented it calling it a sports bike. It’s a cruiser without the daft forward non controls.
Nothing negative about this one. Those guys in India. They say this is a quality build. I believe them. All good.
👍 that's a cool bike 🙂 good luck hope you get all the subscribers needed lot's of luck.
Great video, really loved your commentary I'm really tempted by this bike.

Well done Kate! And was waiting for the next ride on the Shotgun. I find my older R1200RT handles better than the Interceptor, except for the weight... still I find the 650 fun to ride - and with exhaust and DNA filter upgrades, performance is much improved too.

Oh with an exhaust, this would sound so good!!
Holy shit. Kate that road looks amazing. I've got a RE SM and it would feel awesome pulling on the throttle through there!
Im a new owner, it cruises very well. Im very suprised at how well it handles changes direction very quickly. Ive had to dial down my body english its so responsive. It could do with more power but doesn't feel gutless and does the modern traffic thing easily. Your right about the foot peg positioning im still after a month keep looking for more rearward pegs, also that rear brake is so sharp haven't quite got used to it yet after a month.
Not a child Kate, just enjoying life and your bikes 😊
Another KZreadr I forget which explained the front rake angle is reduced compared to say the Super Meteor. I am not an expert in these things but I think that is why it feels more agile than the other RE 650's.
I booked this bike waited a month, on the day of test rides brought home Interceptor 😊 glad I did
Nice review, thanks a lot. Greetings from Westphalia
I’m just watching your Northumberland, I’ve just been on a 3 day camping trip on the yam tracer 900 gt. Had a great time apart from the weather.
Nice vlog, it is what it is and it isn't a sports bike and I'm sure nobody would buy an Enfield thinking it was. For its price and its quality it really is very good but personally I'm not a lover of blacked out bikes and particularly dislike black exhaust systems.
Heffalump is a very underused word 😊
Love this video Kate, bring on 100k you deserve it. Have you ridden the HD Nightster 975? I know it's probably an unfair comparison to the Shotgun being shy of double the HP and at least double the price but would be interested to know if this is closer to being more a "sports bike" than that of the RE? I own and love my HD Nightster and would love to see your opinions of it.
I always enjoy your honest viewpoint on all the bikes you test 👍. But what ever you do don’t quit “being a child” 🤪👍!
Good review Kate. I think I’ll have to have a ride on one. Or shall I wait for the classic 650. Or maybe keep the Interceptor? Decisions decisions.
Excellent, you at your best.
Great video Kate. 👍 I too, have test ridden/reviewed the 650 Shotgun, and I have to agree with you. Compared to the other bikes, and I've ridden/reviewed most (if not all), in the range, it definitely handles better, than any of the others. The suspension is superb, considering the price range. I do have a question though.......? What do these Journalists normally ride, to claim the Shotgun handles like a sportsbike? 🤔 and......what medication are they on?! 😵💫

You're such a refreshing voice in the moto vlogging world, Kate. I really enjoy your videos. I bought a Shotgun about a month and a half ago. I agree with your assessment. It's not a sport bike but it is sportier than the Super Meteor 650. Two distinct bikes even though they share a frame and engine. I've had a Super Meteor 650 Celestial since late last year. I enjoy riding both of them. Never thought I'd say that because I've had sport bikes and sport tourers for years but as I get older, a lighter weight, smaller bike is a lot easier to live with. My bum knee is happy as well. I'm also finding the simplicity of them rather refreshing; no annoying menus to scroll through to make an adjustment. What adjustment? My only gripe is with the rear suspension on the Super Meteor; could be less jarring. I haven't tried to mess with the preload settings yet to see if that makes any difference.

Hey Deborah, thanks for commenting as an owner of both bikes! Valuable insights! 😊
Loved my GT650. Broken hip from cycling accident stopped me riding it. Would definitely have another Enfield. Hopefully they will make the Vee twin concept bike soon. And get a dealer for Suffolk.
I love my Continental GT and they are fun, fabulous bikes. While the GT does have slightly rear set pegs and clipons it is a retro sports bike from the sixties not a modern one and that comes out if you try to push it on that skinny back tire.
Kate. When you rode the Interceptor, did you adjust the rear preload? I am 80kg suspension preload 1 click from max and I have no issues with the suspension. 2x M20 washers on top of the front springs sorts the front end out with an extra 6mm of preload. I love the handling on the Interceptor. 37 bikes in 47 years. I do have some experience.
Good review as always Kate. If you get the chance can you review the CF Moto 450 MT. Its a competitor for the RE Himalayan 450. Ride safe.

Or is the Himalayan a competitor for the CFMoto?
Went over Rivvy The other week, road up to the barn is shocking these days, and 50 mph cameras over blue lagoon😢, used to be my regular haunt years back❤
I would love to ride my enfield in the UK looks great and love your videos
Funny , I'm sat here , been watching a vid on the new Guerrilla 450 and then here i am thinking your accent is familiar , roads look familiar , your route is one that i am on many a time and i recently sold a Himalayan and bought a GS , but now regret selling the Himalayan so I am here looking back at Royal Enfield's again .anyway sensible views on the Shotgun .
Finally subbed, 55yo male working towards my full license. Looking at a triumph 400x or summat similar as im too old for sports bikes and i think i will find my self high up in a hedge if i get anything too powerful.

Great video, many thanks! 🤘💪I know there is different philosophy behind both but could you compare new Himalayan to Shotgun? I mean performance on the road, general feeling. I love both but can’t get both unfortunately…
Hi Kate, any chance I can do a comparison between this and the Kawasaki Eliminator 500?
A standard/quasi cruiser that can handle well... Good stuff.. How is the throttle transitions in town? Smooth or jerky?
At about 12mins in, you state that the suspension is rather hard, and compare it to other REs, but this is a Bobber and they started out life as hardtailed bkes. I would not expect nor want a soft ride on a Bobber, so maybe I should go try out this bike. I reckon comparing the diff. models within the Enfield range is not a thing, but comparing this Bopper with for eg, the Triumph or Indian Boppers would be a good idea. Just sayin' Kate..., not condemin' Thanks, I enjoyed this review, just as I do all your reviews. You have a way to win me over. I'm sure you were a damn good Saleswoman! i defo need to ride that there road... the Rivington? Sehr schön!
13:00 Do you think the suspension is setup more for some of us more heavily padded folk? ~200lb riders?
I wonder whether the suspension would be as firm carrying a tubster like me?
Really like the shotgun but I couldn't live with that dashboard needs some nice old dails with rev counter
How can we improve the suspension. Any suggestions
This is my dream bike
Would it be a good first time bike, after passing my test..👍
What about just getting a Honda CB500F? Would it be just as good or even better? I don’t know…haven’t ridden either one.
Awesome
Just found your channel. Just subscribed. Love it. But as an American, they're always a bit unnerving as you're always on the "wrong" side of the road. 🙂

Something no one seems to cover is 2 up capabilities and comfort. My Mrs isn’t a rider but wants to be included so please can we get 2 up perspectives. Thanks
Hey, Drill Green? I guess that's why I thought of it as some sort of 1940s bike that was used in the second world war because that styling looks straight out of that era to me... I stayed to watch video to catch more of the cool american accent. 😎
What gets me with the Shotgun and the Super Meteor is where that extra 40kg weight compared to the Interceptor/Continental came from. Still a bonny wee bike and a bit of a giggle to ride on the right roads. Its still a bobber though
@RichardWilliams-kf5vw

There’s more metal on the Super Meteor/Shotgun. Mudguards, side panels etc.
saying that it handles like a sports is like saying a van handles like a car ;;; no it doesn't -- it handles like a van ,,,, that bike [ shotgun ] handles good for a bike weighing a quarter of a ton , not like a sportsbike at 175 kilos and 200 bhp , i have seen these shotguns in the flesh and they look well finished , give the bike 20 more bhp to warrant the name , as there are plenty of other re's meeting the a2 requirement , and i may buy one ;;; nice review ,,
Not sure if this has been covered but I think this would look great as a bobber without the rear fender?, has anyone done that?😅
Forgive me, but I would have thought that the Continental would have been closest to "sports bike" category as far as Enners go that is 🤔🙄
Does it handle like the 650 interceptor?, I’ve ridden one of those and it handled nothing like a sports bike, it was ok but to compare it to a Japanese or Italian sports bike seems a bit odd 🤔
@UsernameKate

Handles a bit better than the Interceptor in my opinion but it has better suspension, the shotgun feels better damped 😊

Am hoping the 650 Classic will be the pick of the bunch. That could be my 2nd bike. Or a cruiser with more muscle but which! Harleys are £££.
Handles like a sportsbike, I doubt it but I do think it’s good for the money and good for what it is but you can’t sell it on promises of sportsbike performance.

Compare the Shotgun to a Harley 1200 Sportster. The Harley has been given a laughable name.
Horses for courses. At the age of 87, 240 kg is a little on the heavy side for me these days. So, great looking bike, but I'll stick with my little Yam MT-03, which comes in at 169 kg wet.

If Ken Hom designed a bike it would be this one lol! I did buy a wok but I just can’t stand the look of this effort.
I prefer having footpegs more in front. And this is what I expect from a bike like this. It´s nice if it handles well (sporty), not wobbeling around. Regardless the looks, I would never put a 50 horse/240 kg machine into the category "sports bike", Never would own "sports Bike" again by the way, completely out of time with all the fines and regulations.
