I hear you talk about millions of dollars, but I'll spoken to the local owners about the money they loss due no parking spaces for customers . Pigeon forge doesn't require rod run to stay afloat. The real rod run is at convention center not the parkway. Sidewalk trash doesn't due this city any justice .

This will ruin the whole Rod Run . Can't imagine the money that will not be spent at local merchants . I know mine won't.

I've kept myself from spending too much in PF since they screwed up my F100 Supernationals.

The government wants to control everything. I remember back in the 80's we had the car craft street machine nationals held in Springfield Illinois the city&state got together and destroyed a multi million dollar weekend for the city and surrounding countys. I stopped going to the rod run when I saw young girls running down the street pulling their shirt up for beads hanging from someone’s mirror. I’m there for the cars not kids being stupid

You’re right this is a lot of the problem as well as the dope and the trucks. Those young ones get way out of control. I scolded a young man driving by for his language with a very young child right there this year

We probably won't come back to the Rod Run or Pigeon Forge either! We love being able to come and ride up and down the road and look at the cars, and if we see one, we are interested in pull in and check it out. This is a big mistake for the state of Tennessee and Pigeon Forge. Hate that they stopped having Shades of the Past also.

If they don't, it's abandoned and the city or businesses can claim it. Don't lease from the state, let them eat it. We pay gas taxes for these roads to be maintained.

Always enjoyed walking and checking out the vehicles for sale or not. Last time we went there were way too many squatted and coal rolling trucks running around. I don’t think we will ever be back

Car shows are not my thing but many people enjoy them. To each his own.

I have never been to a rod run. I was planning on going to the fall one. I am very disappointed. Hopefully it won’t deter people from coming. I would think that with all the people in attendance, businesses would be booming regardless of cars taking up the parking spaces . It’s a gathering of people who enjoy looking at cars , people watching and talking to old friends plus making new ones. I think the city and state needs to organize a new plan. It shouldn’t be banning car swaps or car sales.

I think the business owners ought to step up an . the hotel owners step up to this because it brings tremendous amount of revenue to them. People coming in and out the stores to buy things. Whether it be clothes, candy food. It would really hurt the rod run after so many years

As a local the show has gotten out of control with the trucks. They are a bunch of punks who have no respect and act like they own the road. It was safe and family oriented until they showed up. Close it down. The trash, the noise and destruction, not to mention we cant move or have a life while they’re here, we do have a right to quality of life. …bye. Money is not everything.

My family loves coming, we spend alot of money there in the hotels. Eating, shopping and game rooms. They worry about the saling of cars what about the shooters and golf carts on the sidewalks.

Well be my first time for the jeep show. I've got a 94 and 2000 Mustang GT and just got my 2013 Jeep wrangler sport. So I'm planning on having a great time together with friends and family.

Go to enjoy looking at the cars because I could never afford one. If you want to sell, put it online.

No what you do is you move somewhere else, then pigeon forge will be forced to tell TDOT to take a hike. What's TDOT going to do stop them from maintaining their signs? If TDOT doesn't maintain it after so long, consider it abondoned and claim it. Claim all that land they expect Pigion Forge and the businesses to maintain while claiming they own it. Let TDOT maintenance it, fuck the lease.

You know as well as I, more than half the potential buys never attend that show! Put all those cars over there and the Island will have that shut down faster than you can turn around. None of the guys out there would mind paying a fee to set up. 2/3ards of them go to Daytona, Moultrie and other places and pay to get in. Think about your statement

What Rod Run, that's part of it. In fact it's actually the whole point. If people can't sell vehicles at the rod run there is no rod run. How about this, don't pay the lease for the spots used, and we will all park there anyway. Also, don't lease from the state, if it's their road, let them maintain it, and everyone will park there anyway. Also, do as they aak, don't put up a for sale sign, but that doesn't stop people from still selling anyway. People can still sell or ask to buy. They can't stop you from listing what year the car is and so forth though. I could of swore the tax payer already pays for everything including rhe roads TDOT maintains every time we pay gas taxes. If I'm wrong then why are we paying so much gas taxes?

Like I said before they doing restrictions by restricting little by little so Peolple with classic cars will finally fade away and they want host it no more due to all pushing the electric vehicle if they keep on having shows and saling these classics how they get that electric push sales they need in the areas just my opinion think about it great coverage here and information here sir enjoyed the video take care sir

For the most part, it might be up to the spectators to seek out cars they might be interested in and talking with the owners. They can't keep us from asking if something is for sale!

But why should they? It's a Rod Run where everyone knows they can trade or sell cars, and now they are putting a stop to that.

We always spend a day at the actual show and then another day checking out the cars on the strip. For an area that is very much tourism focused, it would be a shame put a stop to this a activity.

the rod run dosent bring much money to the economy outside of hotels and pancakes. rod run books the town out with people who dont spend money here. all businesses are dead during rod run, but the traffic is so terrible the locals have to stop their lives till its over

Yeah that's one of my ideas about this too, because you don't need to advertise th sell to have one. Everyone can just assume it's for sale.

I’ve been going for 31years and it’s the only time I go to Pigeon Forge. The activity on the strip is what I plan my vacation around. I could care less about the rest of it. The actual show at the laconte center I rarely visit. You can do anything here that you can do there without the travel

Great video! My thoughts on it really though I get what there saying and all. But to me it really sounds more like another way to try to end the Rod Run. Because if you think about it pretty much 99% of the vehicles out there are all for sale. So if they really enforce this I don't see to many vehicles out there to walk around and enjoy then.

People will just take their cars and money spent in their hotel stay, food, vendor sales, souvenirs, outlet malls, parks and entertainment areas, and small independently owned shops elsewhere. This will put a hurt on the area for sure. This is all just over reach, trying to stop the American and southern way of life in the area but it's only going to hurt PF. Let's just move the Rod Run to.. maybe Maggie Valley? Knoxville? I'm sure there is somewhere else we could go. Just my .02

The economic impact would not be as big as you think. They are a lot of people who make it a point not to visit the area during rod run. If you move it somewhere else (and hopefully they do) those people will offset some of the lost revenue you mention. And take Knoxville of your list of options...... we don't want that event here either 😅

Made my vacation a pain in the ass this weekend. But at least we had cars to look at while traffic sat for 45 min

Made the mistake of being in PF during a rod run one time. Never again. Traffic was complete gridlock. 45-60 minute wait for fast food drive thru. Over 2 hour wait at restaurants. The over bearing loud cars. No parking because every spot is taken by someone trying to sell their car. If they would ban the entire event, it wouldn't bother me at all.

SO let me get this straight . TDOT builds and maintains the parkway built with tax's paid by you , specifically sale tax on gasoline in Tenn. Then leases the right of way to the city who in turn leases that land to the business's . Sounds like a hell of a RACKET . And You are paying for ALL of it . Never under estimate the corruption of Government . They do not work for the common man .

I dont care about prices on the cars, they are mostly too expensive anyway, i just like being there to look at cars and just take in the experience. If i am interested in a car then i can possibly wait for the owner to happen by and ask him if its for sale and how much

We were there, not for the Rod Run. We thought we avoided it. The traffic was TERRIBLE and what I believe is supposed to be a nice family event has now become unpleasant. Also the amount of misconduct is bad.

Made the same mistake once. Never again. I hope all the rod run people get mad about this ban and move the event to another state. Traffic is complete gridlock. The language and behavior is absolutely terrible. Not an event that you would want kids to be around (but what kid wants to look at old mostly junk cars anyway lol).

Love the area but thats the biggest reason why I go so I guess we will have to find someplace else to go SAS. But I will agree it's getting ridiculous more people trying to sell then showing thats the problem.

Well....whats stopping people from dropping a for sale sign in the backseat, out of view from leo from the street....

It doesn't have to end , there is always a way around these types of situations , such as : you may still park there but don't advertise what is for sale ON THE CAR , just lay a card in the front seat with your phone number and that is it , that way there is nothing on the car . This is just one way to do it , I'm sure people will figure out other ways , like maybe a small sticker on one of the headlights that let's you know to check a certain website for info . Keep your tradition alive and most of all don't let them take away your right to have fun and be free.

I think everyone needs to get together and let the officials understand that it’s at OUR CONVENIENCE THAT THEY HAVE THIS AND NOT THEIRS!! I say MOVE IT SOMEWHERE ELSE! I’m sure other places would actually us 100%!

This is crazy 😜 This has been going on in the Mountains since I was a baby. We go there 3-4 times a year and the Rod- Runs have always been a huge draw to the area. My dad had a gas stations, my brother/ friend’s always took their hot rods up there. They just want to drop some of these main staples that made Gatlinburg,Pigeon Forge etc what it is today. I think last year, they didn’t extend the lease for one of the oldest, largest Rod - Run that started there like 30 ++ years ago. So, now that one won’t be happening in #2024 it has ended. I think people needs to file a complaint with the city- this has made the area a huge success for years.

well my 2 cents... I do not know why a for sale sign on a car is a problem, I have heard from those who have sold cars over the years at the Rod Run that they paid the businesses to park in their parking area, so the businesses did not lose in that case, and the car shows bring a lot of revenue into the town, we love looking at all the classic cars regardless if they are for sale or not, and if they want cars for sale at the LeConte Center then stop charging folks to come in and see them, because the cars that come there pay to be there, and people should be allowed to come enjoy seeing the cars free of charge, it would be a tradition that dies off without the cars along the parkway, they should focus on the rowdy cruising vehicles and not be concerned about a car for sale, also I do not think that the state should be allowed to own the parking areas in a town at all, those should be owned by the town and or business that owns the property

Right, stop paying the lease, it's that simple. If TDOT don't maintain it, then consider it abondoned and lay claim to it. We all pay taxes for these roads, we own them all not TDOT. Why lease them? Tell TDOT it's their roads, maintain them yourself but we all are still going to use them. What are they going to do arrest everyone for using parking spots and roads we all paid for?

They should be more concerned about the golf carts and scooters running up and down the parkway. We were there and saw several close calls. One guy killed riding a small three wheel scooter. This was the wildest rod run I have witnessed over the years, and probably will not go back.

Just one more example of governments being the FUN POLICE. Where was the harm in this practice. No victims, no one complaining, just a bureaucrat showing "power".

The Rod run won't be anything other than a car show without there being a way to buy or sell cars. It would greatly dampen my car show experience if they can't buy or sell their vehicles. I'll go once if they pass the law, but if it is any fun, I'll Not be going back again !!!!!!!!!!

@roburg8259 that area gets plenty of revenue with out the rod run mess. Additionally, there are a lot of people who avoid the area during the rod run that would now come and offset the lost revenue you are claiming would happen.

Not been to the RodRuns in a few years, but this will make sure i dont go back to Pigeon Forge period ! If i do decide to go to Gatlinburg ill go the back way and not even travel through P.F. !

Park the car, put a sticker on the car with a QR code linked to sale info. Not technically advertising a car for sale that way, maybe sorta.

Sounds like an opportunity for someone, I think it's an easy fix. Someone needs to develop an app for selling these vehicles, have a registration area, give them a baseball size sticker with a number on it to identify the vehicle, look that number up through the app , all the information including the sellers number is there. My understanding is, you can still park there, just no advertising. just place this sticker on the back window, no advertising.

Maybe it has something to do with businesses losing money especially when there's no parking for there customers. We use to have a huge car show like this here in Massachusetts but same thing happened so they did away with it.

The smart thing for pfg to do is buy a big peace of land and put the cars that's for sale there and charge like 20 bucks to park there and people would pay that easily and charge admishiltion like 5 bucks for on lookers anyone thats looking to buy would pay that easily also then that would keep the people out that really don't want to buy out.then all the others could park along the strip like always for car lovers to look at .

How many ways can you spell DONE! Maybe Georgia or the Carolina's will appreciate the dollars and cents and cone with a version of. Pigeon Forge has already changed so much to where a lot of the appeal has been an issue. This was the Rod Run. This makes zero sense! Its ridiculous! T- Dot I hear you so you better believe I will not be dropping my money with you in the future!

most , not all, do not go to a car show to buy a car, most are there to look at the nice cars , most are over priced anyway

THIS is not what needs to be fixed. This isn't a problem. AT ALL. The kids in their squatted/lifted trucks are what's ruining Rod Run.

I own a lifted truck and im also a deputy sheriff, ive never caused and problems at rod run and i go every year, ive never had any problems with the police either. So how am i a problem at rod run? Just curious?

This is ridiculous! Why can't people have a good time. This is traditional.

Personally I don't like government agency over reach . I hope the car show people stand up against this . A for sale sign on a car is a right of freedom . Ban together get an attorney to put a stop to this over reach . Turn the Parkway ownership over to Pigeon Forge like it should be . What about a hat , shirt or a card that says for sale will they ban that ? What if you only have the for sale sign on the car driving it on the parkway ? Would for sale signs be freedom of speech ?
