This is the all new Mercedes E-Class. It is the all new E-Class since the pre facelift back in 2021. In this 2024 model year, things have really changed from the inside and outside. Even engine configurations have changed as well. New AMG engines are being introduced in favor of the new AMG E Performance technology developed this year for cars such as the C63S and S63.
First, we should talk about the power of these cars. First, you have the base model, the E350, putting out 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. Then, you have the E450, unsurprisingly with more power, at 375 hp and 369 lb-ft, which is surprisingly an improvement of power by 13 hp more than the previous generation E-Class, due to slight improvements and changes made to Mercedes’ traditional 3.0L inline-6 turbo engine. There is an upcoming AMG E53 model, which will have an E Performance battery setup combined with the same engine you get in the E450. It might have 500 to 600 hp. There is also a speculation that there will be an E63S with a newly developed V6 hybrid like the planned CLE63 with the E Performance system. That wasn’t confirmed yet, but I will do a video on a prototype, if that ever ends up being made.
Inside, you get an interior that has some huge changes from the pre facelift E-Class. You get a similar hyper-screen as seen in the EQS, EQE etc. But, unlike those two models, you can only get the hyperscreen covering the two screens on the middle and right of the front of the interior. In the driver’s seat, you just get a traditional display in the shape of a square, just like you get in the EQE (without hyperscreen option), and the new S-Class. You also get a pretty good amount of legroom in the front and back (if you are like 5 foot and a half ish. Front seat legroom is suitable to all person sizes.). There is a lot of leather on the seats, so you will indeed not get your back hurting on a long trip.
On the exterior, you get a very similar shape design on the taillights, but a completely different design on the front lights, with the lights being a bit in the outer shape of a parallelogram. You also get the same E-Class body lines that you have got since the E-Class a couple generations back from now.
And last but not least, let’s talk about the pricing. The base E350 model starts at $73,900 CAD ($53,600 USD). The E450 starts at $83,900 CAD ($60,800 USD). Those might seem overpriced, but the yearly inflation has got these prices of various cars up to very overpriced figures by 2024 and later. Pricing for the new E53 hasn’t been confirmed yet, and the AMG models on sale now are still in the previous generation. The E350 and E450 have both arrived in Canada and United States the same month that this video was posted, April 2024. The car shown in this video was a prototype from when it was first introduced in early Spring 2023.
