After getting support from the rare 5 Directions, the “mama” lion goes on a journey of crossing a delicate special bridge which includes rocky mountains & obstacles. Finding out why the dragon who lives above in the clouds is not bringing any rain to the land and people. According to legend and story, it is said that dragons are benevolent who control the seasons and the weather. This lion dance performance routine was done by the all female Gund Kwok Asian Women Lion & Dragon Dance troupe - at the Peabody Essex Art Museum during Lunar New Year celebrations. 🧧 Chinese New Year 2024 began on Saturday, February 10th, 2024 - where many celebrations happen in many countries & cities around the world including China / Shanghai / Hong Kong / Malaysia / Vancouver / Singapore plus Australia & travel destinations such as UK London Europe. Also the 2024 Boston Chinese Lion Dance Parade which happened recently to celebrate the dragon 龍 🐲🐉 year, is where hundreds or perhaps thousands attend the beautiful Asian Chinese celebration with many lion dancers & Múa Lân lion dance drumming along with loud red firecrackers in the streets. Melbourne & San Francisco Chinatown USA and Boston Chinatown are just some cities that have their own Chinese neighborhood communities with delicious food & restaurants as well as NYC or New York City which has its own Chinatown locations. Acrobatic lion dance also exists during these Asian celebrations. During CNY - Tết is also known to other Asian communities around the world during Lunar New Year season. There is also a lion dance community in Texas as well. Lion dance Múa Lân 舞獅 is related to prosperity, wealth, abundance and success. The lion dance or barongsai can be a mix of adult & young generation performers. Sometimes a big head buddha mask also known as dai tou fut or dai tao fut - and 大头娃娃 in Chinese traditional culture are part of the Chinese lion dance action show. Dàtóu wáwá is another name for the buddha costume mask. Oranges and lettuce are part of Choy Cheng or also spelled as Choi Cheng used in traditional lion dance or tarian singa in many restaurants and stores, plus during wonderful fun street festival performances.
