You make a great video but like SO MANY other Kia Seltos SX videos, I rarely find tech as the main highlight. I'll keep looking because I don't need a 10 minute video about the color or horse power. I want to learn about and see a deep dive on the features and FUNCTIONS, what all the buttons and menus can accomplish. Do you have another video that covers that?

Great analysis and I like your suggestion list and if they want to differentiate the upper trim from lower add a sunroof with a second fix row panel on the upper as an option. Yes, they must lose the CVT because no one wants to drive around in a whining car. 😉 11:24

I have this one, not that color, but 2024 Seltos SX with sunroof package. Great car. It's perfect size, all the tech you want, even feels luxurious, and smooth ride. Love the car. It's perfect. I think, imho, best in class. Little expensive but what isn't these days... add to that dealers are charging "market adjustment" on these anywhere from 3-7K. Yeah, sounds crazy but it's happening. Add to that, barely any in stock, 2024s started hitting dealerships only in April. If you want one, I'd say wait a few months for more to be in stock. Don't buy one with a mark up! Luckily I got a good dealer and they were straight up with me in price. No mark up.

It is far and away the best in its class. What’s even more impressive is that it’s more luxurious and has comparable interior space to popular compact SUVs which are above this class. The interior completely blows away the RAV4 or CR-V. I leased a 2021 SX turbo and absolutely loved it. I have a 2023 Tucson now which is also great, but sometimes I really miss my Seltos..

Some trim offers headup display?

Subaru has proven that subtle changes can be OK even for a new model, yet alone a mere refresh. Fixed the CVT, updated the interior a ton, updated the engine, dig the new taillights, can't complain! If I hadn't just bought a '23 Nissan Rogue (EPA rated 37mpg highway, I've hit 42.3mpg on a trip), I'd pick up one of these baddies!

Oops, cancel that!!! No way I am trading my 37mpg roomier Rogue that is tow rated for a smaller 27mpg Seltos... that is really poor economy by comparison and is a deal breaker IMO. I thought it was rated 34mpg, but that's only the underpowered 2.0 liter. I'm that much happier with my Rogue purchase then.

Your end proposition was spot on. As it sits it's a beautiful vehicle but at $33,000 plus I can't afford it and if I could, at that point I would maybe want to go with the Elantra N or the Sonata N-line. It's all a crap shoot. lol

You can get it for less, but the deal breaker IMO is the fuel economy, that's just way too low for the turbo.

The Seltos is for Kia soul owners who want to move up to something that is all wheel drive. Once my Soul Turbo dies, I’ll definitely be picking one of these up. The new pluton blue color is gorgeous.

Seltos is also available in FWD in the S-trim. There's really no reason for the Soul to exist anymore, and they cheapen the Soul every year, so I expect this is the last generation for it.

Excellent review! Just looked at the seltos yesterday for my daughter and I had some of the same thoughts. Also on top of the price the dealers I checked are up charging $1000 or more on this car! I’m still on the fence between this and a trailblazer for my daughters first car. Thanks for the review!

I've test driven the Chevy Trailblazer and I bought the KIA Seltos SX. No comparison. The Seltos is a much nicer vehicle. Handles beautifully and the brakes are excellent. The design of the interior and exterior of the KIA are superior as well.

I will ad a sunroof and moonroof to mine which I don’t have . I will have installed Mahogany and black trim leather seats both front and back this coming week Add to it both cooling and heated seats.

The Dct is good but they had a lot of failures due to overheating in stop and go traffic due to the computer getting confused by low speeds. Reminds me a bit of Nissans overheating cvt’s. All that is to say that’s why they went back to the 8 speed.

They used to have a "nightshade" (think that was the name) version which was blacked out and had the upgraded turbo engine but the downgraded EX trim for less money. I bet they bring that back later for a cheaper option.

I think the Sportage and Seltos are equally attractive, but I did like the exterior of the Seltos better before the 2024 refresh.The exterior lights and grill got way too busy.

Reason why they don’t change things “there” and “there” is because the price would increase as to where some may go to their local competition and buy “the other.” For 33k with all the bells and whistles out the door seems reasonable. If you want the basics then 25-26k is the way to go. I always buy the top trim and willing to pay more for the amenities because that’s what I prefer, so there are choices if you can’t spend the 33. I wonder if they need to make the Seltos and Sportage and just make one since they are only 11” apart…call it the Seltage or the Sportos. 😊

The whole forced cost things are annoying though, for example you can't special order a Kia or Hyundai, you can only receive what they deliver, but they don't deliver the cars without floormats so massively overcharging for them is just false advertising of a lower MSPR Than what you actually pay. And we need a law to force all manufacturers to not list shipping as a separate line item and include it in the MSRP, because its not like you can pick it up yourself. Every time a manufacturer says "starting under $30K" the real price ends up like $33K.

For that price, just get the Sportage

I prefer to 2020 version looks. I'm picking up a low klm one next week. I don't like the outside design changes at all on that newer model. The dash looks good on the newer version but nothing to write to write home about. I prefer DCT but want the additional HP, maybe a tuner can tweak it. It's still missing mud flaps on any version, courtesy door lamps in the doors and foot-well lights, especially in the GT-Line. All the other extras are just a profit booster for them, typical in any product, especially these days. Luckily there is no monthly service fee for the heated steering wheel and seats. Having a turbo only boost the ego and is not necessary . A basic seltros, upgrade the things you upgrade. You don’t need all the bells and whistles .

For that kind of money ill go instead with the Sportage or the hyundai Tucson.

Rogue is getting a mid-cycle refresh in 2024, be sure to check that one out. Its fancy new engine is WAY better than the naturally aspirated non hybrid version in those two.

@@BoopSnoot Not for engine longevity. And the Rogue still has a CVT that has traditionally been pooping out around the 100,000 mile mark. KIA/Hyundai has their own problems but let’s keep it real.

@@Ricky-mo6mv CVT was redesigned for a whole new generation in 2022, its massively overbuilt and if you look at the design is similar to what you see in V6 high torque applications. Rumor is they went overboard due to the poor reputation the last gen caused.

@@Ricky-mo6mv I actually really like the CR-V and it was my first choice. The reason I didn't go with it is because the base 1.5T I found inferior to the Nissan in both power and efficiency, the superior hybrid was not only more expensive but had dealer addendums they would not budge on, at least in 2022, the technology on most lower trims screen/infotainment wise was pretty sad, and little niggles here and there like the weird ceiling hump to house the rear passenger seatbelt, and the base wheels which I found were less attractive than the gunmetal more interesting design base wheels on the Rogue. Rav4 has similar issues with markups if you go hybrid, and IMO is overdue for a redesign as its getting long in the tooth and has a really cheap interior.

Aren’t all new cars expensive???

Nice looking ride! $33k doesn’t seem too much nowadays with everything (especially cars) being so high. I guess I have gotten use to the ridiculously high cost of new cars….shame on me.

Our local dealer has an added $3k market adjustment tacked on to all their Seltos trim lines. Now that's ridiculous!

@@randy9849 I picked up a '23 Rogue S below MSRP, no trade in. Rated 37mpg highway, bigger than the Seltos, can tow 1.5K (seltos can't), plenty of power, very comfy. '24 Rogue gets a mid-cycle refresh, so '23s are likely to drop even more in price.

Yes. KIA sold 19,322 Seltos in 2023. (From Jan - Apr 2023. While they sold 44k in 2022 guess people didnt like it.

probably due to no stock. Here in So Cal the 2024 Seltos or even 2023 Seltos are very hard to find in stock. 2024 has only hit the dealers in April so...

$33k is a hard pill to swallow for a crossover you can’t even fit a rear facing car seat in. I’ll take a Mazda CX-30 Turbo at this price point if I had to choose.

CX-30 is also tiny. For $30.5K OTD, I picked up a base Rogue S, rated 37mpg highway EPA and oodles of room with big door cutouts and WIDE opening doors, all about comfort. Wait for MotoMan to show the updated 2024 its supposed to get a mid-cycle refresh as well, but so far just in camo.
