2024 Kawasaki Versys X 300: Showroom Rivalry May Be It's Biggest Challenge!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

I'm on record as saying that the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 is a great bike, but changes within the Kawasaki brand's offerings change the landscape around this bike and may be shrinking the market for this bike. What do you think?

This is the best motorcycle reviewer I have found on KZread. Thank you for getting into the details of the bike and the close up shots. Rather than just riding and talking.

My first bike. It's been great to learn on. I'm 4000 miles in, with no issues whatsoever. Ready to move on, as soon as my budget permits.

Hey friend, this bike is an awesome Offroad bike! I have installed TKC80 and I ride offroad with friends that have BMW F800GS, ktm 790 and have no problem keep up with them, offroad there is…😊 Just rev it hard and will climb any hill ! Best upgrades are better seat, engine guard, skid plates & wider pegs! Pretty much what I do with motorcycle anyways …. 👍

Engine guard being the most important... But I agree this is a capable bike if you're ready to throw some aftermarket bits at it. Riding it the way Kawasaki sells it still offers some diversity of terrain, but you need to be careful with that oil filter!

A 300 Versys, that is something I've never seen before. Cool, thanks for the review. I bet it's fun to ride.

FWIW I'm an older rider and as I've aged I am increasingly concerned about bike weight. I currently have a 013 V-Strom 650 and it's a great bike but has a high center of gravity and is heavy. So I've been looking for an alternative height and especially weight wise. Also my riding distances simply aren't that long anymore. I'm still resisting the 3 wheel option, don't think I'm that far gone yet. When I started I had a KLX 250 and I loved it but eventually needed something with more oomph and more versatile. So I may be somewhat back to where I started. This was a really great review and I appreciate it.

I think it is a great street bike. I owned 2 ninja 250s and a ninja 600. I would rather have a Verisys x 300 than a ninja 300 for street. It COULD be modded and customized to be a better off roader. There were stock ninja 250s (ninjette) off-roading back in the day and the only mod was knobbie tires. >For me< off-roading this bike, it's too heavy for a 300, and the fairing and such are too expensive to repair in tip overs. Price is great, there are plenty of good reasons to buy one. In fact, I THINK I would rather have this than a KLR and I have owned 2 of those because I do love them too.

a versys 451 would be sweet.......as long as there is led lights, handguards, poss better panniers and a full fat comfy seat!

I'm always on the look out for an urban bike that works for me and is suitable for my city. I love scooters but Edmonton has weather and geography that creates potholes that play havoc with small wheels and limited suspension travel. We also have 50 and 60 km speed limits that are very aggressively enforced with photo radar. There are very few drivers who will travel at 70 when the speed limit is 50. The power provided by larger displacement machines just isn't needed. I'm not huge but so many of the smaller displacement bikes seem to be configured so that shorter riders can comfortably flat foot. This is less comfortable for me although that's less an issue for a bike that's ridden in 45 minute increments. The small Versys looks to be a good fit but it's kind of boring. I currently ride an NC750X which does a good job of meeting my needs but its even more boring. Thankfully there are tones of choices in the marketplace.

@@leonblack2651 Just playing alone in fantasy here- If I had about $10k or so to put into one. Offset risers, MX/DS style bars and handguards, rox offset risers (they move up AND away), seat, some extra lights ect. MAYBE some suspension upgrades. Tires of course..... this would end up be a much better option than KLR for me. I mean that as a compliment because I love the KLR too. This would be OVER 100 POUNDS lighter and twin cylinder.

Hi Pete. I am a 57 year old who grew up riding off road and on, but haven’t been on 2 wheels since I was 22. Really wanting to get back into riding. Would you recommend this bike for someone in my situation and if not what would you recommend? Thanks.

yes, we know it's still at 300cc but you didn't answer..why? Why, when the Ninja and Z each updated their (*formerly shared) engine, did not the X-300? Considering an NX-500 from Honda seems to not have a viable competitor in this motorcycle.

Because Kawasaki is still making "enough" money on the sales of this bike to justify its existence... Could that end this year? Could sales this year drop enough to encourage a redesign sooner? I would think it's now clearly time to see what they can do with this concept.

@@PeterLoweOne Kawasaki make money from their heavy engineering (powerplants, ships, defense, etc). Motorcycles and powersports are like a side gig for fun. That explains their lousy approach.
