Yes, that is exactly why I bought it over the Taco. I kept going back to that 405hp... Just hope it can live up to Toyota longevity. I went from a FJ with 230,000 miles and a flawless history.

I’m a Toyota guy but I’ll take this over the new Tacoma TRD Pro all day every day.

​@@abie1308 specialty vehicles, like various Raptors, are usually ineligible for X plan. It's not on the latest list, but that list was issued before the Ranger was released.

As a Tacoma guy, I’m pretty miffed at the PRO’s $65,000 price tag, $16,000 more than my 2020. I hope the Raptor steals as much sales as possible from Toyota forcing some heavy discounts down the road.

I was just not very comfortable with going back to a 4 cylinder on the Taco. I get it's a turbo, but still had reservations on the I4 powerplant longevity.

Such cars demand more demanding off road testing not just a walk in the park, waiting for more in the near future 😉👍

As long as the trail is dry there’s no problem… where I am it is very rainy and trail are always muddy , and I can tell you that you are going nowhere with ko2 or ko3 in mud . Maybe I will try to air down to see but I don’t think it will change anything

As a previous bronco raptor and f150 raptor owner, it's incredible how this vehicle does offroad. It's way quicker than my bronco raptor was. Going over jumps, there isn't the huge thud from landing, its pretty smooth. I'm really impressed what it can do and it's significantly cheaper. Wished it oversteered more.

I thought I was about to buy a TRD Pro until I saw this video.

Sticker is 39 psi but I'm running 35. Even at 39 the ride is a little stiff compared to the AT4X

Have you taken the outback or Crosstrek wilderness on that trail at speed? I'm curious how the Baja mode suspension of the raptor compares to something that might feel a little more rally focused.

@@darek816 Mine was ordered by the dealer last year. The order status page says it went into production in on March 13th but the website says it has not been built or shipped. I do not know anything more than that unfortunately. Do you know how to check yours online?

Test drove and tried to buy...MSRP is fine, but dealers are marking them up 10k plus. While I could if I wanted, just can't justify it. Ordered a Lariat FX4 2.7.

The background music selection for these types of videos is quite amazing! Really adds to surreal location of where this was taken place

I plan on ordering one to be built in the next 2-3 mos. But im totally stuck on what color to choose, narrowed down to shelter green and azure gray. I love how the green looks in different lighting and it really highlights the body lines, but have yet to see the azure gray in person. Love to hear any of your thoughts. I started sold with green but my wife it talking me into azure gray

I just ordered in white...none of the other colors stood out to me. My first white vehicle...I saw one in white with 37s on it and it looked sick. Good luck!

Gray is always lame. Go with the green. Gray is for lame dowdy people who can't decide between the lame boring non colors of white or black so they mix the two and choose Gray/"silver"🙄😅. Although there are a lot of ugly gray green, gray blue colors out there.😅

Does this perform well in recovering other vehicles if they get stuck? does the settings allow you to mix and match? i'm a fan of quiet trucks so extra exhaust note doesn't appeal; especially if its pumped into cabin I'd be fascinated if ford did a raptor maverick hybrid.. what would that look and how would it be like?!

Experience. Off-road mode auto engages the rear. If you’re legit off-road that’s fine.

Ford website this is dual injected (Port and Direct) but other places say it is Direct only. Can you confirm which? Thanks!

50 psi is insane. Most jeeps daily around 25 psi. And off road are 15 or less.

Tire max is 50, Mfg. recommended 39. Mine was delivered at 45.

Those deflators will adjust as low as you want not just 18lb. On my PRO I run 15lbs it literally rides like a Cadillac off road. The faster you go the smoother it gets.

As great as MTS is, it still requires some slip to engage. Front locker doesn't.

That is the weakness of Toyotas. I was trying to climb a tough hill that had rocks with my FJ Cruiser, the hill was steep enough that it required momentum. I had my front A-TRAC on which is similar to MTS and works great on slow rock or off-camber obstacles by applying brake to the wheel in the air spinning and letting the wheel on the ground get traction. I had to disable A-TRAC and blast up the hill with momentum to get it done. The one thing I remember saying to myself was If I had a front locker this would have been so much easier and slower.

LOW psi 23 for the tires, yes it offer better grip,, but risky puncture easily on those sharp rock off road,,, I think 23 is way too low,, I try 30 at least,,,,

I ran my FJ Cruiser at 20 psi multiple times at off-road parks on Bridgestone Dueler Revos on sharp rocks and tree stumps and never had a puncture.

Higher pressures will also cause more punctures then mid 20 psi on a light vehicle on gravel roads, I drive logging roads that are pretty nasty with a 1 ton truck packing fuel and tools and we have found max pressure kills tires.

@@mr.commander3947 with a Toyota tacoma I ran 25 PSI all the time pavement or dirt did fine. They were 8ply tires. For example on a 1 ton truck I will run around 60psi with 10ply tires all depends.

​@@drivingsports The PSI on the sidewall is not a 'recommendation' for your truck. That just means if you go above that PSI, the tire is a risk of failing. The psi recommendation that matters is the one on the door jamb that the vehicle manufacturer lists. A non-HD light truck is usually way less than 50psi.

of the 3 competitors in this segment, the ranger is the ugliest, but also the most capable (as a dune runner)

This seems redundant and unneeded. They should've done something different from the raptor, like idk an overland specific ranger.

Im hearing a lot of rattling and clanking from this truck. Not too good for a new truck

So can a Camry. Once. But you can't carry this type of speed over this rough of surface for an extended period of time if the vehicle isn't built to take it. Any vehicle can do any course once. Vehicles like the Taco TRD PRO, Raptor and TRX are built for more rugged environments.

My 2020 TRD PRO can do anything that truck can do except high speed activities. Nobody I wheel with drives like that.
