    Bandon Dunes hole rankings (I decided one hole per course because that feels right) Number 1 at Sheep Ranch. Best opening hole on the course. Not much in terms or strategy but it gives you such a good intro into what you are in for at Sheep Ranch and I could sit on that green site all day. Number 4 at Pac Dunes. I love the way this one plays, especially if the wind coming off the ocean it makes the tee shot really exhilarating aiming out towards the cliff. The strategic bunkers and the way this hole just sits on this cliff gives you such a great opening into the look at the ocean side holes. Number 4 Bandon Dunes. Its hard not to go with 16, but I think the walk around the mound at no 4 and then down to that beautiful green is one of the best reveals at any of the courses. Number 13 Bandon Trails. It's hard to remember this hole after you play the diabolical 14th, but I think the 13th stuck with me because its really the end of the forest section of Trails, and the final hole in that little mini "Amen Corner" of Bandon Trails. This part of the golf course made me feel like I was playing in a national park. I love the long narrow bunker on the right of the green and how you can squeeze your tee shot up in that narrow section to get an easier approach shot into the tough green, or lay back in the wide part of the fairway and take the more difficult shot on the approach. Just fantastic golf hole all around. Number 16 Old Mac. As much as I loved so many other holes at Old Mac, no 3, no 7 or no 14, no 16 really is unlike any other golf hole I've really played. The green site is incredibly interesting, and hitting a blind shot into it was just a wild ending to the fun at Old Mac. That final stretch of holes at Old Mac is really good, and I think 16 kicks it off coming back towards the clubhouse.

    The question about Scottie’s dominance becoming boring is interesting. Obviously our view of Scottie is informed by Tiger and his style during similar stretches of great play. Tiger was so good, but the driver could still be wayward, which would lead to entertaining moments in the subsequent recovery. It’s fun to see the best playing on both sides of the spectrum, hitting darts from the fairway, but also working themselves out of jams like no one else could. Scottie’s play seems so automatic, we only see him on one side of this spectrum.

    The Chevron should move over to Bluejack National, Tiger's golf course that is seemingly designed like Augusta. It's ranked 3rd in Texas.

    @nolayingup any thoughts on the KZread qualifier for Mertle Beach? Seems like a step in the right direction for the non signature events to get some increased viewership. Plus the added advantage of having an "avg stick" demonstrate just how good the pros actually are.

    @@2PP22 I believe in the end yeah. It was some of the KZread group and some pros (who won). I think they should have done all KZread personalities but happy to see some incremental change.

    Thought it was a great idea. The video was a very tough watch and the execution seemed way off. I also don't think pros should be in something like that, if you're really trying to drive some fan interest. Just let the KZreadrs play for one spot.

    "LIV Singapore is easier to win for a player of Jon Rahm's skill level than the Byron Nelson". I agree that the larger field size of the Byron Nelson makes it difficult but I feel like there were way more top level players at LIV Singapore than the Byron Nelson this weekend, no?

  • @NoLayingUpPodcast

    @NoLayingUpPodcast

    There were 3 players with a skill of over +1.0 in the Byron Nelson and 5 at the LIV event. But there were 50 players with a skill of +0.0 or better, and only 27 at LIV Singapore. Essentially the math says, keep throwing more and more and more average players in there and it becomes more likely that someone has a big peak week.

    I was right! You would not respond to my points about datagolf. Still a couple of players in the top 50 on datagolf not invited to the PGA and many more in the top 100 not invited. Surely without these guys it’s an asterisk major? By your reasoning re Singapore vs the Byron it should be harder to win LIV but easier to get say in the top 15-20 at LIV. In other words the talent is clustered mid pack at the Byron but towards the top at Singapore. I’d hazard a guess and say Taylor Penrith, the winner of the Byron, would be at best a mid pack player at LIV and very unlikely to win a LIV event…but he’s a PGA Tour winner!

    Kinda disrespectful to Taylor Pendrith to have his first win be preceded by 5 minutes of talking about why this tournament sucks. I love your content, but if you continually wonder why the PGA Tour has issues, and you spend most of your time bashing it...do you think maybe you are part of the problem?

    KVV is unbearable when talking about LIV. It can not be your cup of tea but pretending the Byron Nelson or any other PGA tour event is some sacred thing just filled with all the talent is laughable. The majors matter and nothing else, not LIV events and certainly not typical PGA tour events.

    At no point in this pod did they say the Byron Nelson was sacred, they deservedly trashed it this pod. They just can't take LIV seriously at all, I can't really either right now. Truly terrible golf week.
