2024 BMW R12 NineT | Launch First Ride

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is the last of three bikes BMW have just launched, it looks like the R12 NineT is Chad's favourite, nothing to do with age Chad!

I liked the older R9T sooo much and was very frustrated by seeing the new one. BUT, the more I look at it the more I start liking it and leaning towards it as the buying option. I do not know how designers do that, but somehow they know how to set trends and making you changing your mind.

Purchased an R12 nineT the exact same as you tested in November 2023. Liked the Green and Red frame was too out there for a mature age guy like me. Due delivery in Late March in Melbourne, Australia. Good to read that I did the right thing after viewing your test ride report. Has been nothing out there re tests for the past few months. Moved my 1250 GSA on as needed something a bit lighter and to bring a smile back. Park it next to my CE04 (been getting a big smile from that one). Cheers from Oz.🧐

To me, that’s the classic profile of a motorcycle; just beautiful. I love that characterful air and oil cooled engine with its trademark torque to the side at idle, and I like the ability to specify analog or TFT gauges. I also think the small TFT looks way better in this setting than the usual dinner plate sized setup. Those always look odd on naked bikes, as though someone Velcroed their iPad to the handlebars. Pity that Chad had to test ride the bike in such horrible conditions 😊

I'm just wondering about your body position on the turns. It looks like your body is shifted on the opposite side of the direction of some of the turns?? I found my 2020 R9T a bit short between the peg to seat and w bit too vibey at 75+ miles per hour when ridden for a couple hours.

I past my test on a bike in 1975. I spent much of my early biking life, buying the latest bikes, magazines and listening to the crap so called biking journalists spouted. Every new bike was the best and every 6 month old bike was now past it. And here we are today with yet another load of nonsense. The best bike is the one you own if you can ride it to the best of your abilities. I am now 67 years old, riding a Z1000sx and having owned all the big bikes at one time or another I'm happy with it. The newest bikes - if you're paid as a biking hack - is always the best. Moral of the story.... buy the bike you want and can afford because all other bikes are just lumps of metal without you on it.

Not all riders are racers or wannabe racers. These kind of bikes are the best ‘road’ bikes, our roads are shit, traffic often heavy, speed limits low. Rather than looking for a super fast high revving sportsbike that'll make you piss everyone on the road off just to enjoy your riding of it, maybe think about something that can outdo 95% of vehicles on the road, sound great whilst making riding at legal speeds fun. It's time to change your narrative - the racer bullshit is boring, it makes your channel dull.
