I literally shouted out loud when I saw that she finished- it is amazing, monumental, inspirational, wonderful... (like any other finish is, but, for a woman to do what WAS considered impossible for all but a very few men... wow.) This is an accomplishment that is truly without paralell- The only things that possibly surpass this, maybe, is the (frankly, nuts) solo sail circumnavigations, and, maybe even some of the one-off accomplishments in the age of discovery- Anmussen and Scott, or maybe (but not quite) like Shackleton's 'Endurance' experience... THAT is how amazing that I find this. I sent this info to my young niece, who says it's inspiring. (How cool is that?)

A community run; the sight of an adult jumping up and down on the spot in excitement in the videos as Jasmin came into their view however not the camera view, the two children running up the hill in excitement, one turning to check and all that followed. Jasmins husband shout yes and slapping his hands. Being following it for eighteen or so years; and the Iditarod Invitational has also concluded in Nome. Till next year. Great discussion.

It was a Norman Rockwell moment, the runner forcing herself up the hill arms flailing, the look of total exhaustion in her face, the time ticking down- just seconds remaining, dogs running and barking, kids running excited, adults yelling, an old bearded flannel shirted man standing watch by a yellow gate in charge of it all quietly praying to witness greatness by ready to oversee possible defeat, cameras and phones witnessing it all -Oh Norman it was history made in America that would’ve garnered you another classic masterpiece.

Does it matter which direction a person comes into the finish from if they have all their pages? (Could a runner collect pages out of order and still get credit for a loop, if they come in from the correct direction, etc?) Either way, G.R. is a Barkley LEGEND... He may be a lot more famous vis-a-vis Barkley than many finishers. I wish he'd eventually get a finish.

Barkley was designed to be impossible, "for idiots", but it has now been cracked. Therefore the original purpose of the race has been surpassed. At the very least, it should now be seen as Barkley 2.0, post-Laz. @@runsingletrack
