2024 Aurora Magic

These are my pictures from a Nikon Z8. First time working with a "real" camera and I was hoping to get just a couple of great shots out of 750 that I took. I made many mistakes but here is a sample.

You have so many gorgeous shots here! What area are they from? We just fell in love with chasing these lights after visiting Whitehorse Yukon Canada to see them. Totally changing. New subs here excited to catch more of these views 🤞

Hi! I spent 4 nights in Bettles Alaska and saw the Aurora each night. Two of those nights were beyond spectacular! I rented a Nikon Z8 mirrorless camera that I had taken instruction on how to operate but under the extreme cold conditions in the dark, I did not focus properly and didn’t get much worth saving. My IPhone pics were better by far. But then I spent 2 nights outside of Willow Alaska with Snowhook Adventures and snowmobiled to their upper lodge at the base of Hatcher Pass and they had a guide who is a fanatic about the Northern lights and he helped properly focus the camera. The most colorful photos in the video were from this location. It was an incredible night between 3:30-4:30 am with very little indication that it was going to happen. In Bettles, the Aurora danced and moved like crazy over our heads and besides some iPhone video, I just enjoyed watching it! I took these photos and others that aren’t shown between February 26 and March 2 just 3 weeks ago and I am hooked also! I have since purchased my own camera equipment and am heading back to Alaska on the 30th for a month (for work) but will be Aurora hunting again!
