Regarding the LFE: it's a special effects channel that is usually limited to below 120Hz, but this is up to the mixing engineer to decide. This channel is only present when you play x.1 content. There is no LFE when playing stereo music, so your issue with this system comes from somewhere else. I should also mention that the subwoofer isn't there exclusively for LFE, it also plays low frequency content rerouted from other channels and that's what it's mostly used for. P.S. I've seen Geoff Martin from B&O mention in his blog that there are a handful of recordings that use LFE for height channel and B&O A/V processors have an option to redirect LFE to ceiling speaker for that purpose. I don't know if he had a part in designing this system, but he'll probably have an answer if you reach out to him.

RR Bespoke Audio is absolutely insane, incomparable, it's basically a residential High End system in a car, in speakers, on stage, in amplification quality, tuning, everything.

@@v12-s65 why? you are the only one, Charlie has already tested it here on the channel and I said it is the best, even listening to the video and based on the same headphone that you heard in other tests, the superiority is clear, it is the closest thing to a High End residential system. I've never seen a system so natural, realistic, clear, fast, with such a good stage but at the same time it's engaging and never sounds tiring or tiring. You have no idea how difficult it is to do this for a residential High End system, imagine it in a car.

At first, I felt like track no 5 wasn't too bad in the A8. The moment you bring out the comparison, they're not even close. You can clearly feel the difference when it comes to those 'driving' low bass especially in the 760i.

Surprising review. I tried the older S8 B&O system and found that it has the best clarity. I would hear all layers of the music more clearly than most other Audio systems, like some details wouldn't even be heard in Naim or Burmester sound system. Edit: just heard the comparison at the end.. Amazing work🤤

I felt the same with B&O in the RSQ8 and range rover meridian system, it sounds like something is off . great analysis!

I own several Bang and olufsen speaker and in-ear, love their tuning profile, hopefully this carries it into their vehicle.

Heard the advanced system in the new rs6 and was blown away, surprised you only gave it an A 😮

I like the comparisons a lot. I agree that the Audi is not quite as good as the BMW and Merc on sound quality.

Unfortunately we probably won't see the A6/A7 any time soon since we already reviewed an S6 (despite having the lower system). But maybe!

@DailyMotorSound great, and then we will have a comparison 1- Advanced VS Premium Sound system in A6/A7 2- Advanced with 19 speakers and 1820W in A6/A7 VS Advanced with 23 speakers and 1920W in higher models like A8 , Q8..

Sad to see Bang and Olufsen’s top systems not being on par with the Bowers and Wilkins and the Burmesters of the world. They are more than capable producing an amazing system, just don’t know why their automotive applications have been so weak. The only reasoning I could think of is Harman’s involvement in their automotive systems, which is unfortunate.

Agreed, I think Harman has pushed for cost reduction. The Harman engineers are capable, but it's a large corporation, and profits always win.

@@DailyMotorSound For sure. Could also just be Audi wanting to cut costs as well, as cars like the A8 were developed amidst Dieselgate. Audi also switched some of their lower tier cars to Sonos in the last couple of years, so it could be cost cutting regardless of Dieselgate. So basically cost cutting probably on both ends!

As an A4 owner, I was looking forward to hearing this system. It seems good, but not great for the price. Assuming I go ICE for my next car, I will most likely look for an A6 or S6 with the 3D Advanced system instead of trying to go for an A8 or S8.

A4 Avant sounds better than A4 sedan and I think A4 Avant is better than A8. Don’t know why but I think it is because carbin room space.

The balance of sound across the hertz scale seemed to sound the best in the BMW. Nonetheless, I still wouldn't pay for these factory sound system upgrades. I would choose the base sound system, and then invest in STEG MSS 3-ways up front, STEG MSS components for rear fill, a JL Audio W6, W7, r a Sundown SA10 v.2 10" sub. Then I would power it all with a STEG MDSP12 12-channel amp and DSP, and possible a 4-channel STEG amp for front midbass speakers, and a STEG mono amp for the sub. This system with 12 less speakers, will absolutely demolish these factory sound system upgrades, in SQ and SPL.

I have a 2021 Audi RS7 with the Bang and Olufsen Advanced system, and I will admit that when I got it, I was surprisingly disappointed in the sound quality. You cannot adjust the mid range, and it sounded muddy and not very clear no matter what music source I used. I found that if you use Spotify premium, which has a built-in equalizer, it completely changes the sound quality of the stereo and really makes it shine. I love the stereo in my RS7, as Spotify and its built-in equalizer transformed it into a completely different sounding system in my opinion.

Glad you were able to remedy it! Sad that it required a third-party adjustment, but still good for your use case.

The A8 sounds muddy through my system. The 7 sounds like a large chamber - reverb, and perhaps a little muffled. Merc is clear but less warm. Which one has the least listening fatigue?

I think the BMW is clearer but it has a more natural clarity, it has a better timbre, if you analyze it carefully, the Mercedes is less balanced and even sounds a little warmer at times

​@@v12-s65still the lexus lx570 along with the older 29 speaker meridian signature sound system remains the best imo. For bass lovers lx570 is the one since it has the most powerful sound system ever fitted in a car. Charlie did a review on it too and was surprised. He gave it S grade.

I would go for both Mercedes benz Burmester and Volvo's Bowers&Wilkins

After listening to the comparisons, it really shows that the Audi system lacks the fullness and crispiness of the sound compared to the BMW and Merc's systems

Interesting - I'm in the middle of a purchase decision between BMW & Audi (but the mid-rangers - S6 and M550) Each would be spec'd with up level sound. I've driven/listened to the BMW but have not found an Audi yet. I think I prefer the BMW system, but after hearing this, I think the best it the Benz, though I'm not really looking at the E53 - I've never personally had a Benz and somehow it just doesn't 'feel' right - i.e. I am quite certain I am not rich, and shouldn't pretend to be. In any event while the S6 (as a vehicle) feels very capable, I am viscerally drawn to the M550 even though, optioned properly, there's enough $$ difference to make you think.

The Volvo really is something else...

Listening to this reminds me of if I'm in the car listening to music and one (or both) of my ears is a little clogged with something. It's almost physically uncomfortable -- A clashing of my sense of feel and sound. I'd dare say that the balance is similar to that of a car with four woofers (or maybe four woofers and two tweeters). Edit: After listeneing to the comparisons, B&O should be embarassed. This system essentially splits the difference between the BMW/Merc and the Jetta. Granted, I'm sure the Audi would fare a bit better without KZread compression. In terms of audio quality, maybe see what it's like on Floatplane and possibly add content there?

Pretty subpar compared to Burmester, Volvo systems, and even Mark Levinsons.

Please do a review of the B&O in the new Mustang Premium, I think it’s total trash.

That's why I want to get a Porsche Taycan with the Burmester system. Charlie hasn't tested it, or the system in the Panamera, but I bet they would get dangerously close to S Tier if they don't get it.

Mids - Audi, all the rest - BMW & Mercedez

B&O is so hit or miss. I never trust their systems because too many of their sound systems are a fail. I know they CAN produce good systems just wish they WOULD do it more often!
