I've owed three Argo's and a Max-4. As soon as you put tracks on you create chain wind up. Which means, you're forcing tire tires to turn at the same rate and they're not all the same size. The entire driveline is put under extreme pressure. Chains get tighter than guitar strings, sprockets wear and eventually, you break axles. Usually front or rear axles and the fronts are worse because there's very little space to work. Converting the four middle axles to idlers helps some. The other thing ODG never changes is ground clearance. It's easy to get high centered without tracks. I put super aggressive 26" tires on my 750 HDI. They barely fit but made a huge difference but would not work in water. The other issue that came with that is the machine is front heavy. Water gets shot off the top of the tires pushing the Argo backwards. The stock tires are best for water crossings. It's been a love hate relationship over the years. I've also had a lot of fun. I'm thinking this model is about 50 grand. If ODG doesn't want to change their design, you may want to look at Mudd Ox. In fairness, I've never owned one but the idea of being hydraulically driven with no chains and sprockets to maintain and wear out makes more $ense.

@@cedriccholmondeley6086 I had idlers from Adair on my four center axels. It was only a couple weeks after I put them on I broke a front axle. The axles should be machined rather than welded because the weld is what ends up breaking. Good luck, I hope it works out for you.

@@alweedo8377 I have been running mine on escargo tracks since 2017. I broke a tooth on my left drive gear last year because my mechanic put an oversized wheel on the machine.

@@cedriccholmondeley6086 There is a video out claiming Escargo tracks are made in the U.S. I had a set on my 750 HDI including the snow extensions. Those tracks were made in Timmins Ontario Canada. I don't know how guys get away without damaging these machines doing things they were never designed to do. The guys in Timmins told me they tried to sell the patent to ODG but were laughed out of that meeting. Good luck and hopefully, you won't have any issues.

@@PeterLoweOne Hello Peter, thanks for the reply. I live on Centreview Island in the Muskokas, Ontario (all year) and we have an Argo 8 wheeler and use it often to go to shore. The distance is about 900 meters and it takes us 25 minutes with the Argo if there is no head wind at all. 20 minutes with a slight tail wind. We also kayak and canoe and manage 7 to 10 km/hr when my wife is encouraged enough to assist. I have actually managed the same kayak by myself to reach 12 km/hr by myself. Top athletic paddlers can go well above 20 km/hr (seems fast to me, but so I'm told). In any case, the machine you are showing is one sweet piece of gear. We added the same tracks to ours for the winter (almost $6000 canadian) and a 9.9 hp motor is definitely planned for the spring and I will then definitely be able to keep up with my wife in the kayak.

Go anywhere yes but in reality, they can't go nowhere an ATV can on the trails? When is Argo going to step up to the plate and get these things on the Trails? I have been asking for this since 2018 when i bought one??? All i get from them is Crickets!! This is very disappointing and will definitely hurt their sale because of it just saying 😞

Why don’t you talk about you can’t drive them anywhere what kind of warranty do they have? You know the real things here you’re just talking about how they work they’ve been around since way back in the 60s. It’s nothing big you know it’s not new technology. let’s talk about why are you can’t take him nowhere And why they’re so expensive which I don’t understand what are they any good for if you can’t use of nowhere in the woods, Argo needs to fight with the DNR in the United States in in Canada to get them legal to drive on the trails roads or something other than that they worth buying less you got a big piece of property the standard guys are useless or Talk about when they fall through the ice out here where I live they can’t climb back out onto the ice out of the water without that winch yeah you’re floating but now you’re stuck into the Coast Guard coming to get you
