The Volvo driver was not jumping the start. The driver in the Porsche was a guest driver with his private car, because I didn't have ability to borrow Porsche at this time. He had slower reaction because it was his first time drag racing and had never used launch control before. But instead of deleting the footage I decided to upload it anyway. :) // E-Drive Sweden

@@kaz8103 wrong, that's not the slowest Panamera, at least have some valid facts before you start coping. There's a base Panamera: a turbo V6 with 325hp, and a Panamera 4 before this Panamera 4 E-Hybrid.

More Volvo drag Race Please

Very impressed with Volvo was able to get its power down bam unlike the Panamera. Was a little disappointed in the Porsche as I am a Porsche enthusiast but I was glad to see it start catching up, but nothing can beat the way Volvo was able to distribute its power well. Both estates are magnificent

I had a 2023 XC60 T8 recently for 7 days and was incredibly surprised what an accomplished all round package it was. The performance was also a big shock! Just a shame about the 112mph speed limiter from factory.

It's amazing!!

The Volvo probably lost out on the top speed limiter of 112 mph there. I have a T8 XC60. I'm pretty sure that at 'normal' road speed (overtaking etc) it is faster than my previous Maserati Levante S - certainly it's 0 - 60 MPH is faster but I also think the 30 - 70 MPH dash (overtaking or joining a fast road) is faster. Where the Maserati had it was the ability to keep running to stupid speeds. Not really relevant for every day driving. And the fuel consumption difference is stark. The Volvo is EASILY half or 2.5 times less fuel in everyday driving. It's a supercar with a very frugal appetite. Handling? I think the Maserati was a bit more balanced but for real world driving the Volvo is more than adequate.

I have s90 t8 and they put the power down really well. About £15 petrol and month and a charge a day Cheaper for me than the precious 1.6 xc40. Think getting the published 0-60 times could be done by most and they are also good in the snow

Who told you about speed limiter? I have a V90 T5 and I was driving more than 140 mph without any problems. And this is T8, wich is much faster. Volvo is just slower than Porsche, no need to come up with conspiracy theories.

@@SlesarjGinekolog It is limited at 180 km/h and you can see it hitting that in the race before the cones. So the speed limiter definitely might have impacted the accelleration close to 180 km/h as it isnt just a hard cutoff but rather a slower reduction of power close to that speed.

You should try several runs and post even starts. The Volvo is jumping both times and that gives him a huge advantage. The second run you can see the Porsche is the fastest car. That said…..T8s are fast…

Not jumping, but faster due to electric motor with instant power. Porsche has to build up torque first. The Volvo is limited to 180 kmh.............

@@ajmavbmaybe wrong to say jumping because there are no starter but the Volvo is clearly 1 sec earlier on the gas. Maybe he launch and the Porsche dont I dont know. Look at 01:33. After the launch the Porsche is the fastest car.

@kordaxmint533 what do you mean ,I did watch the vid,the panamera was barely pulling on it,they didn't even hit 200 at the end of the quarter mile ,the Volvo is limited to 185 or 190 in stock,so it isnt fair. And if it did it probably would have been less than half of a second difference from 100 to 200,Volvo beats the panamera of the line every time.

@@banaanipuukko AWD only helps getting unstuck or driving off in the snow. Until that it's all about tires and traction control. Either way there are different drive modes and there's a dedicated AWD drive mode which has a constant 50/50 AWD

Driver in Volvo jumping the start

Both times the Volvo jump started before the Porsche. Second run was actually 22 frames ahead. Thats around 0,4seconds. Quite a lot in a short race like this. And the Porsche didn't use launch control (you have to be in Sport+ mode), not even holding Revs at start. The Volvo Driver did "hold" revs, actually he even moved before as he probably didn't press the brake hard enough. So in total it's not a good comparison, i guess the porsche would have won quite easily, if compared properly.

I agree that the Porsche would probably win 9 times out of 10 but that’s with launch control which the Volvo doesn’t have so if we’re talking about a fair comparison the Porsche wouldn’t be using LC also you can hear he did use LC because the bong just before he set off (albeit .4 seconds late) meant he was using launch control. It is very common even if the Volvo driver was pressing the brakes as hard as possible that with a car this powerful it will ever so slightly push through its brakes. I agree with the perfect run from both cars the Porsche would win but you must concede a giant heavy Volvo giving it a run for its money is impressive. Porsches are meant to be a performance car Volvos are not so this is impressive

If you look at other drag videos the V90 T8 455 does 4,9s to 100 at its best. The Porsche 4,3...Don't know what mode the Porsche was in but this is not possible. In comfort the Porsche doesn't launch and shortshifts, so guess that is the case.

And what is the difference in the price ?....in any currency ??

@@benne5736 yepp och med det tas garanti och försäkringsvillkor bort. Heico har upp till 220km/h vet dock inte om den accepteras av Volvo + försäkringsbolagen. På en ny dyr bil hade jag personligen inte vågat chansa.

@@carsandfireworks5539 garanti får inte dras av på grund av modifikationer så vidare dem inta kan kopplas till problemet. Alltså om motorn går sönder och du chiptrimmat den kan de förmodligen skita i att ta den på garantin, men om touchskärmen pajar kan det inte kopplas till en chiptrim. I vilket fall rekommenderar jag att du checkar ut OrBit, det är en programvara som låter dig ändra bilen config. Du kan alltså aktivera funktioner som din bil inte kom med eller som inte finns på grund regionala restriktioner. Detta är grejer som att kurvljus funkar även med helljus på, du kan även ändra hur känsliga de adaptive helljusen ska vara. Så klart även ta bort hastigshetspärren. Det finns även en reset to default knapp som tar tillbaka allting så det är omöjligt för Volvo att kunna se att ändringar har gjorts. Man kan även programmera nya nycklar och slippa åka till Volvo, etc. De som gör det heter SPAyceTech och mjukvaran heter OrBit, de har även ett forum där du kan läsa vad folk gjort/ kan göra.

Porsche is feasible of launching from 5k rpm, in the video I can see there is 2/2.5k rpm, it can matter at the start.

Panamera had slower reaction to pedal and acceleration. Or the Volvo did too fast start on both videos..

The problem with Volvo's is that the Polestar variants are just not enough performance for the money. Volvo needs to turn the polestars up ALOT. The money asked for these cars puts them at a huge disadvantage when you look at other Super Sedans or Super Wagons.

And the to think the Volvo is capped at 180 kmh!

I LOVE Volvos but this video is very misleading for two obvious reasons... 1 - this should be an apples-to-apples comparison of two 2023 models. It is not. The 2023 Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid Sport Turismo: 4.2 seconds would win easily over the Volvo. 2 - the Volvo CLEARLY gets a rolling headstart on the Porsche. I would likely still take that gorgeous Volvo though... what a beauty.
