It's refreshing that this car still exists in today's day and age of CVTs, EVs and bloated SUVs. $23 grand for a manual sedan with Car Play, Android Auto, adaptive cruise and more? I love to see it.

It’s amazing how quickly VW AG can adapt to market conditions and release a trim package so ideal in this moment and so quickly. Consumers are financially squeezed, credit is tight, gas is expensive and supply chains are still slow. Create a trim with everything most people want and nothing they don’t at a rock bottom price and voila Jetta Sport.

What an awesome bargain! Love the simplicity, the greenhouse, and light weight, and the 205/55/17 tires, which will handle the Beirut level potholes often encountered in Seattle. Hard to believe it’s so inexpensive. The 50mpg is insane. The lack of push-start button will also save it from the relay attacks that are becoming increasingly common.

I love the simplicity and the fact that it doesn’t bat any eyes, and it’s honestly refreshing to just see a simple interior on a car in 2023. No huge screens or crazy spaceship like designs. I’ve always thought the jettas were the best bang for your buck in the compact sedan segment.

As an owner of a 2021 Jetta , I totally agree.. if you’re too much into interior design, this is not your car… whereas it comes with minimal features… also the touch screen in the infotainment system is completely hassle free even though it is small (I’ve heard touch issues in Toyota and Honda cars)… plus mine came with white color leatherette seats (combine with grey interior) gives my car a pretty cool look ! Not to mention the huge moonroof !

I think the GLI is one of today’s hidden gems today with all the standard content it comes with including dynamic dampers, enough power for most to feel sporty with, a manual offering, and even accepts regular grade gas for those times you need to pinch pennies or fuel costs randomly skyrocket (aside from our already inflated gas prices now). I only hate that VW has been producing hard plastic econobox interiors the past handful of years (including cost cutting in their Audi products too), but I guess for the price, you really can’t expect more from the GLI…Personally I’d trade some of the electronic gizmos for that premium economy interior of old VWs any day, but I’m likely the minority.

I think the GLI is just a worse version of the GTI. 30k for the base GTI is very good value. The base GTI is one of the best cars on the market, the upper trims aren't worth it though and ruin the value for the money. I would much rather have a hatchback than a FWD sedan, Edit: and hard plastics last forever. My 2011 WRX has hard plastic everywhere like this Jetta in the video, and the interior still looks brand new , 130k miles.
