2023 Triumph Street Triple 765 R & RS Launch First Ride | On Track & Road
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Chris is still in Portugal, so Lara had the tough job of flying to Spain for the launch of the all new Triumph Street Triple 765 R & RS.
Is the RS at £11,295 worth the extra money over the R at £9,595, we ride Jerez and the roads in Spain to find out.

You could do a whole lot worse picking a next bike than a 765RS….. it is such a capable basic motorcycle… ok, it rails like a (very good) sport bike and does track days but it really is at home commuting or just “being a dude out on a bike”. What I like about my wife’s RS is that while it isn’t exactly brain-off fun (it’s proper quick in its envelope), it isn’t heart attack serious like my bikes. Truly an enjoyable motorcycle in every way.
Out of nowhere, Bike world has become my favourite channel. You know the hosts are wonderful when watching a video makes you happy no matter what mood you are in.

Just have to say, this is exceptional presentation. Have never watched this channel, but am planning on getting the RS, so am watching all the reviews. Now you're getting a subscription from me. Great combination of relaxed attitude, fun, and knowledge. And you have a on-screen watchability that is (sadly) a bit lacking in a lot of the former-print journalists. Really only matched by Zack, Ari, and Neeves. Anyway, looking forward to the next reviews!
As a 60 year old track day rider and former club racer this bike is on my radar. This review was so informative. Great job Lara. Chris should be nervous 😅

Thanks again for the video. 😁 Now I have to decide if I want to upgrade from my 2021 Street Triple R to the 2024 RS (financial resources is always a challenge, too). There's enough there to make the upgrade worth it, IMO - the upgraded engine and braking components, the IMU, linked brakes, and the option for cruise control (yes, I've found myself wanting cruise control on my 2021 R on occasion).
With those flying hair while cornering it's hard to tell it's you or Chris behind the bars 😝😝
after watching all the new reviews on this bike that just came out, this one is definitely the best. not too short or too long. and i was fully engaged the whole time. of course, i usually say the exact same thing when Chris is the host. maybe team them up and do some comparisons.
…..and let us not forget that incredible Triumph Triple sound. Nothing like it.

This video pushed me over the edge on buying a striple R. I was between a XSR900 and the striple R (I know very different but not really) and this video tipped me over the edge of purchasing the R.
I agree that most of the race bits are "better" for racing. The secret is, the less harsh street bits are generally better on public roads that aren't as well manicured as Jerez. Be that as it may, I'll pay for and live with the harsh suspension, it that's the only way I can get the Ferrari yellow one.

It’s an absolute beast on track and in streets
The cool thing about the R, is that since 2020, its the same engine as the RS. No difference. Same cam, same fuel and ignition tables, etc... The difference in top end power is 100% done in software, with the ride by wire tables. You twist the throttle to 100%, and it only delivers 100% until 6500rpm and then it dials things back to 81% opening of the throttle plates. That's it. That's why the RS makes more top end power, because the RS keeps the throttle plates at 100% until redline. You can easily change that on the r, with TuneECU and an Android phone or tablet. Takes 15 minutes, to give your new R, the full RS power band.
@BikeWorldTVshow
Жыл бұрын
We did ask the question about a tune, they didn't answer...
@SquireSCA
Жыл бұрын
@@BikeWorldTVshow Yeah, they won't. I have already pulled both maps and opened them up and I see exactly what they are doing. I have also unlocked the ECU for others and their bike instantly picked up power. They used to do it with a different cam and tune, prior to the 2020 Euro5 model... But they started using the same exact motor in both bikes, and they can create two different power profiles with software for the two different models, at two different price points. They save money on tooling and only need one assembly line for a single motor, and the rest is now done in software. Shortens the parts list that they need to buy or stock for making bikes, or warranty replacement parts. Makes much more sense to do it that way and control the power output with software. Other companies do it as well, but at least with Triumph, you can easily unlock that stuff and get full power back... When you think about it, it's no different than Rain, vs Road vs Sport mode, etc... They just take it a step further on the R model, to hold it back a little so that the RS makes more power and helps justify the higher price tag. 🙂
@SquireSCA

Great review by a very knowledgeable rider. Though, Lara, stop trying to sell us the “R”! Who are you kidding? 😂 Ohlins rear shock, 10bhp more, far nicer dash, revised geometry and the most important in my opinion, Brembo Stylema calliper’s. It’s the RS that we want. That dash on the “R” looks like something off of a VTECH toddler tablet. 😂

@@Laramoto I’d want all of the goodies, if I was paying that kind of money for a bike anyway, I’d want all it could offer. I’m kind of used to that in my last few bikes. Great review - thank you. Sounds like the R is the one for the road, but is the RS compromised on the road because the suspension is too firm and/or the power is too peaky like a 600 supersport? I still have my 2011 675R which had a good amount of torque thru the revs which made it very usable on the road. How does the R and importantly the RS do in that respect? Any difference between them for sporty road riding? I tried the original 765RS and it was too peaky 😞.

Hey! Thank you, you too!
I can’t tell you how agonizing it has been to pick between the 765RS and the 1200RS…. I’m a big bore sportbike rider with some serious motorcycles in my garage, my wife is also a serious rider from before I met her and I talked her into a used 765RS two years ago….. it is an incredible motorcycle…. I can go about as fast as I want on it, it’s fun to ride, it doesn’t drink gas or destroy tires, and I don’t hurt when I get off it. The dilemma is that I don’t like the leg room and the 1200RS is a big improvement there… but they made the tank smaller for 2023 and I really liked the tank range her 2018 offers because I can fill up at the start of our riding loop on it and make it home on the same tank of gas, about 160 miles if fast riding. I/m tired of bikes that run dry in 105 miles….
@Laramoto
Жыл бұрын
Hello Nunya, thanks for sharing this... I think you know your solution, and bikes need to fit their riders - that's critical! Tank range I can't help with, its full taps for me 😆
Thanks for the comparison of the 2 motorcycles. Listening to Lara talk about the R model as being more of a perfect street ride, rather than a track oriented as the RS is is nice to hear. Me being a non track person. I think I too would be just fine on the R. Most of the reviews i've read and seen everybody wants to compare the to motorcycles to each other not to what I think they were designed for, one for more track oriented and one street. Saying that the RS should be the one you get... because of the extras. It appears that you don't need all the extra bling all the time for a great street motorcycle. Are RS's better brakes, or that Olins shock, really necessary if your just riding the RS on the street and not using it to its full potential ?? Hmmm...Give me the R.

I was surprised that Bike World would put somone on a review for a Triumph Triple that has never ridden a Triple engine before, I understand that everyone needs to start somewhere but its not difficult for the presenter to have test ridden bikes off camera prior to the review. I feel that the other presenter who was more knowledgable on triples which helped explain the bike alot more. It was more of a review about the differences between the r and the rs, rather than last versions bike or other bikes in its class or even what makes the new bike different. Thank you for the review, just wanted more please

She's a racer. Translated: She knows how to stay at the top of the powerband. I'm guessing on I4s.The 765 Triple is closer to one of those in delivery, than it is to other triples like the MT-09s. At least to me, for a bike like an STR, it's much more important that the engine obviously works for someone used to "screw emissions, rev to the moon" race bikes, than whether she has specifically ridden a triple before. Now, if she was reviewing something as off as KTM bringing back a track suited version of their 690 single, that would be different..... Then I would want someone with thumper experience to review it, as it would be too darned foreign to most I4 trained racers. But a 765, I see no issue. The STR triple, is very I4/sportsbike/racebike in character.
