its the breakers that drive the price through the roof!!!! they buy all the product so it seems the demand is there and they can charge whatever they want because they will just forward the cost to breakers who forwards it to customers

You nailed it, breaking keeps these prices propped up. That comment isn't meant to hate on breaking, but I don't understand how it can be sustainable when people continually get bludgeoned buying into breaks. Do people roll into the local gas station and drop 1K on lottery tickets every week/month? It's literally not any different.

People are just chasing a numbered Wemby card. You hit a Wemby gold or 1 of 1 and it’s life changing money. It’s all a gamble buying these boxes.

The Breakers are probably only 98% responsible for the high prices to be fair. I do like watching breakers pull $20 cards and fire canons and play hard rock music celebrating absolutely nothing. Not to mention the yelling and scream and convincing you that buying into the break makes you some part of a bizarre dysfunctional family unit. in the 1880's they were called snake oil salesman lol.

Haven’t ripped a box of anything in the last 2-3 years for this exact reason. More than happy to just buy the singles and let someone else take the beating on the boxes.

I opened a bunch of blasters, and got 2 base and one silver Victor Wembanyama. There was also a silver and cracked ice Scoot Henderson, as well Amen Thompson. So I am basically done with Prizm Basketball. On a side not all these were purchased at Barnes & Noble, where i am member, so i get 10% off every purchase, and when you go over $100 you get a $5 coupon for your next purchase.

These are sold almost exclusively to breakers since no one is footing the full cost they don't think about it. Like you said very few personal rips of this. 90% of this products run goes to breakers I bet.

Good lord, those are scary outcomes. This is why I'm staying away from some product and only getting certain things. Will I miss out on things I want? Yes, most assuredly. However, I'll also have more $$$$ for other things later on. Like food 😂. Still wish I was able to rip some Midnight Sons 😅 Thanks for the vid, sir!

Prizm EPL offers pretty good value at $275. I know your not a Soccer guy but at least the auto checklist is deep with big names current and past case hits like colour blast still there plus numbered… sure most boxes are break even and a few losing boxes but with some of the god boxes I’ve seen that’s a gamble I can justify

Breaking and gambling must be way more popular than what I see in my personal reality. And I like opening the occasional blaster or dropping some cash on DraftKings. Card prices have tanked in recent years but wax prices are strong, even with some products not offering players autos due to fanatics deals

I almost did it. Came to my senses and bought 5 boxes of Topps Chrome Soccer instead straight from Fanatics

So people are getting shorted autos in boxes. Is there any tracking of the other “expected hits”? Beckett says to expect 22 parallels too. Wouldn’t be surprised if those parallel range greatly box to box. It’s all ridiculous.

I honestly don’t understand why anybody buys Panini hobby products. How many ways do they have to tell us they’re peddling snake oil?

Yikes, every hobby box opening I’ve seen is terrible for what the cost is. If you want to rip then retail is definitely the way to go this year especially with no big rookie autos. Blasters have numbered stuff appearing pretty often plus there’s a good chance for cracked ice, silver, and green rookies; it’s way more cost effective to get some blasters, especially if you can pick them up at MSRP. I’ve had really good luck this year Prizm retail. The first 2 weeks blasters showed up in stores I ended up opening the equivalent of a little over case, and for just my Wemby hits I got a blue seismic /99, 1 cracked ice, 4 base, 8 inserts - one green and two silver. Got a nice variety of other numbered and color rookies, and a whatever rookie auto too. Honestly I can’t wait for hangers to come out to see what those look like.

I get the feeling Panini is running out of autos. This and old Donruss autos were showing up in 2023 football releases. I get "on average" but that always felt like legal jargon to cover their butt in the event of a packaging error. This is beginning to seem like intentioanal negligience.

Panini's initial release cost is the issue. 2023-24 Prizm Hobby factory cost,meaning if you're a shop and have a direct account with Panini these boxes cost you $350 each(btw that price is up from $274 the previous 2 years) Panini's retail price on them is $935. In comparison 2023 Topps Chrome Jumbo direct Topps account price was $230 with an initial retail price of $330. If Panini would take the same approach to pricing that Topps does then these Prizm boxes should be around $500 retail,at most $600.

Prizm in my eyes hasn't been worth it for at least 5-6 years. Buying your own boxes or even a break is almost a guaranteed L most times.

NT and Flawless will just add a bunch of different “one of one” logo man cards to the product.

Thanks for doing this. We need more people exposing the hobby greed for what it truly is with financial breakdowns. Comparing the average ROI to stocks and mutual funds would be eye opening.

Seems with all the possible parallels the monopoly booster boxes provide way more value.

The exorbitant print runs due to the manufacturers knowing breakers will buy and burn through inventory has driven me to look into organically rare collectables from the past. Kinda done with this manufactured scarcity ruse.

Serious question; does _ANYONE_ have any recorded/documented example where a...."banger" Wemby has been pulled from a[ny] _SINGLE_ hobby box....?!!? By banger, I mean color and/or numbered Wemby, and only from a standard, hobby box (eg. not a FOTL box, and _not_ ....a box from a cumulative case break). Quite literally,...I haven't seen a _single, example_ !! I've seen several Red & Blue seismics pulled from blaster boxes ( /299 & /99, respectively). Hell; I even hit a *Brandon Miller* red seismic in my 20th blaster box! In $1998.87 worth of Panini-direct hobby boxes (2 boxes), I pulled *ZERO* autographs with the advertised,..."2 per average", wording, ....only _ONE_ Wemby base, and a cumulative, FMV of cards worth about $24.17!! (and that doesn't include ebay's take)!! #PurePaniniTrash

I don't know if this might not be the start of the breaking point for boxes. We've gotten to the point where prices are way out of control vs the talent contained in each box. Am I wrong, or does this season seem like the year that the least new talent has shown up by this point of the season? I understand the guys that were hyped at the start of the season with Chet and Wemby, but I've not seen another consistently good younger player show up yet this season. When you translate that to the card world, it's really hard to find any of the new prospects in basketball that I would want to collect. You can pack a box full of that mediocre talent, but I really have no idea how you can get someone to pay over $900 for a box like that. I think I'd rather, if I was going to waste my money, over pay a little for a Wemby card, if that's all I was opening a box for anyways, than pay that much for a bunch of cards of lower level to mediocre talented young players that already aren't living up to the hype. Sorry, not for me. Good video NEO!

That's fair. I lump him in with a few others like Vince Williams that have gotten more playing time on really bad teams. But, the Thompson boys, Amen and Auser, Cam Whitmore, Miller, and Williams aren't the guys that would make me want to chase their cards, or make me want to buy a $900 box for them.

Lol only person this is fun for is the breakers ,and you won’t be able to find this at any Walmart or target

@@NEO_Cards_Comics agree more is made. However I’m saying value of the Prizm nba products, monopoly is the best. They have lots #ed cards and SSP compared to other options and cost is minimal. Chrome mlb is over printed too, but there are products with better value. Value is determined by actual experience buy ripping grading selling etc How is Gianni’s Base Prizm doing? 😁

Christ so that would work out to roughly around 1,300 CAD for one box.

Levert and Lonnie Walker are still on the checklist? I’d rather Panini add more retired vets or hofers than those guys.

That first half case might not even be $400 worth of cards. The 2nd is probably 3x that. Too many cards in the set and way too many parallels = slaughtering.

The hobby is overran by gamblers and Panini knows it can produce crap and they will still buy it up.

Prizm has really gone downhill. The majority of rookies and autos coming out dont even net 1/10th of the cost of the box. NFL at least has several rookies that can get a little more ROI, but barely. Not to mention, If you look at the centering on the vast majority of the CJ Stroud rookie bases and parallels, they’re all off-center L to R!

Those autos looked like crap to me. I remember back in the day when signatures were beautiful things.

It’s been this price for the last three years though and with wembys hype it’s easy to see why people are willling to pay. It’s no different then years past the price goes up or down depending on the quality of players that develope. This is a constant thing with all cards let’s be real these things are common place in sports cards now days. Buying one box of prizm isn’t a deal breaker because you just don’t know what your going to get in the future as many nba players take 2-3 years to develop. Take Gianni’s for example. Also remember that when you say you haven’t heard of any of these players that’s because we by has overshadowed every rookie on the class. The argument you have could be said for any case or product of cards it’s always a gamble. Your honestly better off to not open the boxes because it’s still wembys only prizm or chrome nba uniform and past prizm boxes only go up in value

Every release except the major high end ones are doing it now

watched a couple sblez breaks on wednesday of FOTL case breaks on this product and they were crap, lots of color/shimmers of no name players, none of the autos were of anybody worth getting also and I think those are going for $1900-$2000 a box on feebay, absolutely crazy. Thanks for the video

Sorry but breakers are what card companies are catering to the hobby shop has been set on the back burner. There is nothing in this product that comes close to any type of value, it is driven by player so called unfounded claims. You have a player demanding prices on a team that has won 11 games at the season half. Those suckers have a great season with the NBA, I watch breaks for the shear entertainment of people paying 500.00 plus for a team in hopes of getting that 1 in a trillion card LMAO.

heres the real problem Neo… These big influencers arent paying $900 a box. they have panini accounts, or have buddy buddy hook ups with local shops, to pay wholesale. so as bad as these are for Ol PPP lying Geoffy, at least hes paying way less than the $900 that us real collectors have to pay. my local LCS wouldnt even sell any prizm unless you wanted to pay $9000 a case. oh, but they sold their cases to a local breaker, just barely over cost. go figure. and not to mention, these breakers are probably making….$12-15k on these cases?
