The problem with many freedom fighters is that when freedom comes they don’t see it. They’ve unconsciously trained their minds to remain freedom fighters forever so when change comes that would liberate them, they fight it. As an illustration, the Israelites waited thousands of years for Christ to come and give them liberty but when he came they couldn’t see it so much so that they crucified him. Peter Obi is no Christ but he stands for something that has the potential to be revolutionary. Seun Kuti talks about the common man but he didn’t realize that it is the common man who takes advantage of Nigerians when there is a fuel crisis. It is the common man who charges ridiculous amounts for POS transactions. To make any lasting and enduring change, it has to come from the man at the top. He can fuel the transition and change the mindset of the people and this is what Peter Obi has started. He has brought sanity and revolution to politics - things that were acceptable before are no longer acceptable by the society largely because of him. Seun Kuti is an intelligent man but he just cannot see beyond his nose.

The issue with the likes of Seun Kuti and his fellow caucus of activists is that they are frustrated that the current movement of the Nigerian youths hasn't rallied around them as they wanted or expected, they find it hard to dissolve and align with Peter Obi's emergence, hence the bitterness from him, and the likes of Sowore, Deji Adeyanju and Co. All of this just mirrors the true intent of propensities for self-aggrandizement some activists nature within themselves all in the hopes of relevance and power. It is so sad that when the opportunity presents itself, they are too blinded with jealousy and bigotry to see it.

@@lizzyo3478 Seun’s points were mostly based on his own subjectivity . Obi came out to defend himself on some of the issues raised about his performance while he was Governor of Anambra state. How do you want him to respond to being an opportunist? What is even the meaning of that? Isn’t that how life works ? Is Seun not taking all the opportunities that life has to offer daily? Obi was in APGA and he became a GoV. He left and went to PDP . When he couldn’t compete with the money bags in PDP, he left and went to Labor party. So what’s wrong with that? Nothing Said was going to make him a better candidate. He could have criticized him mostly on objective facts after looking at his manifesto and not just spewing out jargons. Peter Obi didn’t leave PDP for the Labour Party because there was a movement in Labour Party waiting to be taken advantage of. Peter Obi already had his teaming fans in PDP when he left the party to seek platform with the Labour Party. Seun is totally wrong in his analysis. The word “opportunism” as it relates to Seun’s use of it is not lost on some of us who know much better the facts of the matter with regards to Peter Obi’s candidacy. Seun should be apologising to Peter Obi and his teaming supporters for the sinister and snide use of the word on Peter Obi. Lastly, it’s not enough for any one whoever they are to remain in their tiny dingy self-deluding bubble to denigrate decent and courageous men like Peter Obi who at unimaginable cost and expense to his extremely successful private life abandon everything to rescue a dying nation like Nigeria. If you can’t support them, zip up, chuck it and keep your putrid aspersions within your dark bubble!

For the record, I love Seun, I love his music, I love the sentiments he exudes. He is a matured mind and he is up there talentwise. He is an Idealist, just like his forebears. This idealism sometimes makes him lose sight of reality and of what is possible and what is a pipe dream. His point on opportunism suggests that Peter Obi is not grounded when it comes to the issues nigeria is facing, but he is wrong there. We cant ressurect Pa Awo, Aminu Kano, or even Seun's dad who were somewhat of revolutionaries. Assuming Julius Malema that Seun cited is a revolutionary, all he is doing is talking, he hasnt shown the capacity to win a presidential election, and even if he is eventually able to contest and win, he will still face the hoard of reactionaries that pervade the land, unless he becomes a Castro and beheads his opponents. The point is, we need to move from bad to good and then to better, before best. Among all in the arena for president currently, Obi appears to be the only one who has done the research, done his home work, and represents what a large section of the populace is yearning for - homegrown, integrity, capacity, fort right, incorruptible, detribalized, sensible, humble, uncommon situational wisdom, youthful strength, respectful.,above all, highly disturbed, like Seun is, on the trajectory of the country presently and burning with zeal to toe a different path that has made other countries and nations successful. Consider this, Seun, we dont have the luxury of time as a country to invest in waiting for the perfect revolutionary, but most have seen all the qualities we have been yearning for in a leader in this man, thus their zeal in trouping towards him. Will he face turbullence if he wins, you bet, and he will be the first to tell you that that is the true test of leadership, and he has faced it before and weathered it. Seun, vote for Obi and I'll see you when next you come to SXSW. I am one who propagates your music and your dad's. Peace.

Peter Obi's movement is established on the fact that he fought the greed of politics, is competent and has the goodwill to effect the development we need to not tumble down the hill, had the courage to quit PDP and move to a party with minimal influence. Your passions and goodwill are understandable but how long before it becomes effective enough to cause a ripple across board. Do we keep on suffering the same political leaders that loot and steal from us just because your the ideology is not yet influential enough to cause a change. Within few months, Peter Obi changed the political tide of Nigeria, he dared against the norms and tide and he got the people support. Ever wondered why? Keep on pushing your ideology maybe one day it will be strong enough to haul the governing system of Nigeria.

Without a doubt it is based on what Obi and Datti represent in the aspiritaions of millions of youths and patroitic Nigerians waiting for someone to capture the moment for their followership. Going by Seun's narrow conviction we would have to wait for many more years untill a movement of his decription rises up which is ironically a support for the old establishment to continue to dominate the political landscape and destroy the country beyond redemption. He surely needs a clear head to appreciate the ObiDatt revolution beyond the prescint of his confined reasoning. What Seun must further recognise is that the popularity of Peter Obi is not from the vacuum. It is certainly based on character, track record, vision and competence. His analysis is therefore devoid of substance and rather delusional.

Peter Obi brought labour party the clout it is currently enjoying. That is why Pat Utomi stepped down for him. Seun calling Peter Obi an opportunist is wrong. His behavior subsequently is actually opportunistic.

It’s not mare opportunism to leave the PDP cabals who jettisoned the party’s constitution to LP. It takes courage to leave the comfort zone to pursue a vision of a better Nigeria that will tackle the structures of criminality. Indeed it’s hard work and commitment to pursue the vision of LP.

Arise has interviewed Seun before. Y'all should not be carried away by this Obi defence to attack people because they are different. You are no different than the Jagaban army, someone says something you don't like and you want to run everything about them down. Even Obi doesn't do that, he responds smartly to the issues.

Ideological leaders rule the world, Peter Obi is not Ideological, and Seun is right. PO is an opportunist. If truly Nigerians are ready for nation-building, 2023 campaign would have shown that. May God grant you long life with good health Seun. Bravo for been on point.

Peter Obi is God's choice, so no weapon formed against his government will survive. They will definitely try, but the innocent blood of Nigerians gone and the cry of the living citizens of the beloved nation will eventually prevail and keep Obi's government strong and productive

Who knew Labour Papa before Peter Obi began his race on it????? So if we’re talking about Opportunism, I will agree that we Nigerians are the real definition of Opportunism, because we saw what Peter Obi was offering and we took it without thinking twice(which is a good thing). And the Negative Opportunist here is This Fela’s son. He’s the real Opportunist.

Seun"a points are so true. They are his opinions, and they can be subjected to verification. It does not rule out other theories or opinions. He is a realist and he is also objective. Democracy allows for diverse opinions. Those angry at him for not supporting Obi should calm down, cos everyone can not support Obi and that is what makes it a democracy.
