Agreed. The only “easy” pick for me is Colorado over Seattle with maybe Vegas over Winnipeg. I think the Panthers can actually matchup well with the Bruins, but it’s hard to expect an upset since they (the Panthers) were kinda shaky at points this year. I also think NYI vs CAR is one that can pretty much go either way

Rangers is the most "over-famed" team in the entire league. Firepower-wise, Bruins, Leafs, Devils are all better just in the east.

I did the EXACT same thing as you I can’t believe it. The only difference in my bracket is the Rangers going in the finals instead of Boston. I put the exact same amount of games to every first round playoff. That’s crazy man. Anyway, we we’re so wrong 😂

The only people who are picking Florida to upset the Bruins are Leaf fans, because they want to face Florida if they go to the second round. Leafs have a good team but I don't get the hype with the leaf fans and media thinking they are walking into the conference finals.

Thanks for the video! Made my bracket today and after that watched other people's predictions (didn't want other people's picks influence mine). To my surprise we had the exact same teams winning in the east in the exact same amount of games, what are the odds!🤯I also had oilers-bruins final and picked the oilers to win, and actually all the other predictions I watched had the same final and result😄Can't wait for the playoffs!

I think something similar to 2019 will happen. Boston will make the ECF and they’ll play a young team with nothing to lose that not many people thought would make it nearly this far, in the New Jersey Devils. In 2019 it was Carolina, who then had their lunch handed to them which I think will be a similar story or this one, but it will certainly be something for New Jersey to build on

Thanks for the video & your predictions. I find this years first round matchups pretty tough to predict. I feel like there's going to be at least a couple upsets. I'm going to take the Islanders & the Jets to upset. I think Leafs vs Lightning, Devils vs Rangers & Stars vs Wild are really hard to predict, I can see all 3 of these series going 7 games. It's tough too because I'm a Leafs & Devils fan but the Lightning & Rangers both have more playoff experience and the better goalie matchups in these series. I'll take the Rangers in 7 but it could go either way. The Leafs are soo overdue to win at least 1 round and Tampa hasn't looked like the same team in recent months so I will take the Leafs but I'm not that confident in it haha

hot take: I think the bruins are out in the 1st round. they do a 180 going into playoffs and start losing. My dad also points out its hard to break so many nhl team records during the season and still do well in the playoffs

Pretty much have the same bracket except I have Boston winning. I know anything can happen in sports but, there are times where there is a team that is clearly a cut above the rest. I think Edmonton will give them a run for their money though.

I wouldn't be surprised if Boston is out in the 1st round. Only eight teams have ever won the cup after getting the President's Trophy, and Boston this year is a lot like Tampa when they lost to Columbus. Really smooth regular season with very little adversity. If Florida wins one of the first two games, I wouldn't be surprised if they win the series. And yes, I am a Caunucks fan, lol.

Here’s the thing. The presidents trophy has been given 36 times and that team has won 8 times like you said. That winning percentage is the best winning percentage out of any other seed in the league. The common misconception is when you compare that percentage to the winning percentage of all other seeds combined. Obviously 15 other seeds are going to have a better win percentage when you combine them, but a team can only be in one seed at a time, meaning the first place team still has the best chance to win the cup out of any other team. The curse is stigma, it’s not actually factual.

Minor correction - the Bruins broke the record for wins in the overtime/shootout era but it was the 8th best record in NHL history. The Habs in 77 was third best in history but the best in the modern era with only 8 losses. If they had overtime, based on their winning percentage they would have had 70 wins in two fewer games.

the rangers have confidence from last run's and the playoff experience. the devils are still new both age-wise, and playoff-wise... shesterkin is DEADLY in net during the playoffs so i doubt the devs will inflict any REAL damage at all

I mostly agree other than I think the Wild go to the conference final and lose to Edmonton and Toronto makes another first round exit. I would bet on Boston winning the big prize but it's a toss up if it's them vs Edmonton for sure. The Devils could also go all the way to the final and I wouldn't be surprised. Other excitement I would guess at would be Seattle or a deflated Winnipeg kicking it in gear and doing better than expected. (I'm a Detroit fan but I would love to see Minnesota win all the way somehow, they deserve a cup at some point)

As an upset I think could happen is Minnesota making a run. Kaprizov and Nyquist are back and it seems like the only key player they’ll be missing going into the playoffs is Eriksson Ek. Gustavsson has been INCREDIBLE this year and Fleury has tons of playoff experience. I think that could be more probable than the Kings beating the Oilers because I think it’s uncertain whether Fiala and Vilardi will be back and Copley/Korpisalo haven’t been consistent lately. Vegas could outperform everyone’s expectations too, Brossoit has returned and even though it’s only been a few games so far, he’s been great.

Before the regular season started, I predicted NYR VS Dallas in the Stanley cup finals, but the year Boston had, I can't see any team beating the Bruins. Both my brother and our buddy think it could be Edmonton VS Boston in the finals. Can't wait to see how it all plays out. Should be fun.

I was A Bruins fan from Boston and was at the longest game OT at The Garden vs the Oilers. Andy Moog stood on his head. But that loss was fatal. Only Cup game I saw in person. President’s Trophy B’s Milbury as coach. Underrated. But after that game Edmonton was lights out. This is probably krecji and Bergeron last shot. Marchand as well cause those holes won’t be filled. So I hope they pull it off.

My Western conference is exactly the same as yours and ending with Bruins/Oilers in the final AND said 36 goals lol. Yes I even say that as a Panthers fan 😮 We have a chance, the last month or so has shown we have come together and if we played all season like we did the last part then we would be higher up the standings, however Bruins are nailing it and ultimately had to go with them. Other than that I picked Devils to beat Rangers and Lightning to beat Maple Leafs. Bring it on, can't wait even if Panthers will be wiped out by this time next week!

At then end of the day, the oilers are still a one line team with an insane dependency on the powerplay to score, with some forwards having HALF of their overall points being pp points. The amount of powerplays decreases in the playoffs, less soft calls. Not to mention Stuart Skinner has 0 games of playoff experience. Only thing going for them: they have McDavid.

@@ohlucic In the past three years, Edmonton's PP generates 14 goals per hour with McDavid, Draisaiti, and Nugent-Hopkins on-ice. Remove Nuge, and McDavid/Draisaitl are on-ice for 7.9 PP goals per hour. That's a decrease of ~44% for the top PP unit when Nuge isn't on it. Your arguments are trash buddy

You're losing game one

You DID pick my team to lose!! How dare you!!.... Just kidding my team doesn't even make the playoffs and by a long shot :( Most of the brackets are the same as me, but I dunno, I get a feeling about the Wild. I got them all the way to the western conference finals, but they'd lose to the Oilers too. That said I also get a feeling that the president trophy's curse will show up again but in a terrible fashion, and I kinda see the Leafs in the eastern finals against the Rangers, who would advance to win the cup. I am expecting some stuff to happen to align the planets in that way though, stuff like an unexpected injury to a key player, that kind of thing. The Oilers being in the SCF will have a very tough road and they'll be battered up by the time they get there, hence why I sadly don't predict them to win the cup in the end. All things considered it's the NHL, parity's so high that it's nearly pointless to predict anything, really. We could end up with a Stanley Cup Finals opposing the Stars to the Devils for all we know.

I think this is pretty much everyone’s bracket. East seems a bit more up in the air, could see the Devils pulling off an upset, or the Leafs or Lightning pulling off an upset against the Bruins.

Leafs won’t make it out of first round, God has made it that way permanently. And lightning will get smoked by Bruins like they did all season
