I am purchasing a 2016 countryman. I know the features are not as upgraded but, I’m coming from a 2013 beetle. This will be my first mini and if I love it as I think I will, I will upgrade to a newer model in a few years. I mean, coming from my beetle, a lot of the features are a lot more upgraded then I’m use to even on the 16.

I own a 2016 countryman S It is incredibly reliable if it is properly maintained, like a normal car. Change transmission fluid every 70’000 km And oil every 5 to 6’000 km. Ignore when BMW tells you transmission fluid doesn’t need to be changed. The car will explode after 120’000 km if it isn’t changed and would cost you well over $20’000 for a new engine and transmission. You’re welcome in advance, saving you from going through BS of BMW dealerships! Mine has 106’000 km and still running good!

@14r - Their fun cars to drive; but, their incredibly expensive cars to maintain and repair. They are incredibly unreliable. As your first car it’s a very unwise decision. Stick to buying a Toyota or a Honda product. They are extremely reliable, dependable and long lasting cars.

I dreamed about having a mini cooper about 10 years ago. I know own this specific car a few months ago after getting my license. It's one of the reason I tried to get a license despite my driving anxiety. I love this car. It makes me feel good driving it. I manifested it😊. And I'm grateful because I know it's not cheap but I worked hard to have it.

Run away from that thing like the plague. Don’t ever buy a mini Cooper. They are extremely expensive to maintain and repair. After warranty they are extremely unreliable.

Minis are so cute and fun to drive. However, you gotta have the money to be able to pay for repairs and maintenance. I have a mini Cooper S 2019, but I’m trading it soon as I can no longer keep up with the repairs 💔 but hey it was fun and full of memories while it lasted…..

Just a question, how much did all of those options add to the base price. I know BMW doesn’t offer anything standard 😂 From owning a countryman myself, great little car, but if BMW had charged the MINI brand the way they had pitched it, then they probably would have more sales. MINI is supposedly pitched as the economy sport brand of BMW, generally intended to be the cheaper alternative to buying a BMW outright. And, for the most part I can see that based on Mini prices, they are reasonable. However, maintenance costs remain overpriced and the amount of equipment that lacks even in the S models, is kinda sad when you could get a toyota or Subaru cheaper with more standard safety.

Sure does. You can get any two-door MINI with a manual, as long as it's not a convertible.

It is different than the 23/24. The 2025 MINI Countryman has almost 2.5 more inches in height and over 5 more inches in length.
