2023 Mazda CX-50 Review - The Good, The Bad, and the Questionable!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It's not a Mazda CX-5 and it doesn't replace the Mazda CX-5. So what is it and who is it for? These questions and more answered in my Mazda CX-50 review video.
There were a lot of things I loved about this car (it's pretty!) but a lot of things I didn't love (that braking 🤢) and plenty of things that I'm just not sure about.
Please watch and share your thoughts!

I wish you would do more car reviews. I watch a lot of car reviews and you are great at reviewing. Nice, clear and concise review all with good points. I think sometimes reviewers hyper focus on driving dynamics and build but I like your views on livability which I think is lost on a lot of reviews .

Great review. I own a CX-60 PHEV and live in Europe. There is an option setting in my car that has the same infotainment system that allows CarPlay or Android Auto to be used with touch screen when the car is not moving and when is in m motion.

How is the highway Road noise for passengers in rear seats in Mazda CX50 GT Non-Turbo in Canada, and in USA called CX50 Premium Plus Non-Turbo? How noise compares to Honda CRV Hybrid 2024?

I really like these and I’m considering one. I agree with you on the cladding, wish there was an option to have it bodycolor. I get that it’s supposed to be more of an “off roader” but most of us will spend little time off pavement. Also I don’t like the chrome strip at the back of the rear window, makes the vehicle look unfinished in my opinion, either remove it or have it go from the mirrors to the rear window. These aren’t deal breakers for me but just something that I feel could be improved upon.

If the CX-50 came in Right Hand Drive I'd be all over it. It's the perfect sensible car for me here in the Caribbean.

Good review. I picked mine up. I agree with just about everything. I actually spent a whole day wondering if I should go back and change to a CX-5. But I probably still would have wanted the CX-50 if I switched to the 5. The one thing I will say about the exterior, I'm not the biggest fan of the plastic cladding but at the same time, friends and family that have newer CRV's and Rav 4 without the cladding, have scratched up the fenders do to general driving already. Meanwhile a friend with a Suburu Outback still looks fantastic because the plastic doesn't scratch as easily. When seeing that, thinking about the fact that life is well... life and and the fact that CX-50 looks a lot better than the Outback so I got over that part pretty quickly. That being said, the chimes SUCK.

Hi Fadra, Always Great Watching Your Reviews!! Wow, That Sure Is One Very Handsome Machine, Although I Fully Agree With Everything You've Said About The CX-50!! Side Profile On It Reminds Me Very Much Of A BMW X3/X5? Not An Over All Bad Look!! And It's Interior/Interior Colour Scheme, Very Pleasing On The Eye, And Sure Is Very Up-Market Looking Indeed!! Mazda Have Always Been A Super Car Manufacturer, Turning Out Very Reliable Car's/SUV'S Etc With Excellent Build Quality!! (Btw I drive A Sept22 Brought From Brand New Lexus RX 450h Premium Sport) Which I Absolutely Adore!! Your Thoughts On The Brand New Model? Have You Tested It Yet? As I Would Love Your Honest Opinion On It!! Anyway Keep Up The Great Work You Do Girl!! 😍😘💕💖xx (Paul From Ireland)

Hi Paul from Ireland - thanks for watching! I had so many confusing thoughts on the CX-50. I loved it and then didn't love it and then liked it. Who knows how I would have felt if I kept it longer! I haven't driven the Lexus RX450h (but I love a good hybrid). I did drive the 2023 Lexus RX500h (kzread.info/dash/bejne/hXafwcWIqZO1oLA.html) which I loved. My next review is the Lexus LX600 - so stay tuned! 🇮🇪

I agree with a lot of her comments about the CX 50 also. But I liked it enough to buy one! 😁 I did not buy a turbo though. So that kept the cost down as I bought the top-of-the-line nonturbo. I do wish it had a little bit more power. I also got it in the soul red crystal with black interior. Such a beautiful color! Overall, I’m very happy with it!

No offroading with this one. Seen the Lexus GX 550 2024? One hell of a beaut. Madza needs to try a design refresh or a new model that's tall and boxy. Even Mitsubishi did with the Outlander in 2022.

It's sad that even at 2024 Mazda still keeping the partially heated steering wheel. I understand they expect people to hold the wheel at 10-2 or 8-4 o'clock but when you turn you touch other parts of the wheel. The first car I had with a heated steering was a 2017 Kia cadenza and that whole steering wheel was heated. Mazda is kinda like apple where they drag their feet to add features that others have had for a while. The panoramic sunroof for example.

  • @Allthingsfadra

    @Allthingsfadra

Yes, Mazda is slow with some features but I will say that typically when they implement them, they do it right. As for the steering wheel, current driving safety standards say we should be driving at 9 and 3 but I'll be a 10 and 2 girl until I die!

Built in Alabama at the same factory as the Toyota Corolla Cross. No hybrid version yet, like the Toyota. It costs more than the CX-30 built in Mexico, and the CX-5 built in Japan. My advice is wait until more is known about reliability. The CX-5 is proven reliable, and the CX-30 less so far.

That's weird with having to push on the gas door to open it. I can see it eventually getting a slight dent in it. Only current Mazda I know that does that. All others have a interior release lever.

Yet another car tester that runs the engine instead of taking their foot off of the brake and hitting the start button once, some cars you have to press it twice, but using the accessory position of the start button will do everything that a running engine will do plus saving gallons of gas. Lets try it, foot off the brake, press start button, watch how all your lights come on, now go thru your what you like and don't like about the interior. You're welcome.

What’s wrong with having the engine running? People like to see the start up process, hear the engine running. And often I need the A/C or heat running for the amount of time I’m in the car. But thanks for your comment.
