I completely agree with your observations. Wider tyres and longer droppers is the future of the spec in this segment. But Marin is looking in the right direction geo wise, at least.

Your vids are super helpful, this looks agressive with the posturing, not a fan of the Small wheels on the trek Hilo im riding around, and i use the triathlon bars to haul stuff with Bungies in a basmati rice burlap sack

Marin Fairfax 2 vs Presidio 1 what will you choose and does the frame of the Fairfax 2 good or will not hold up?

I'm 6'1 and Large feels good for me. I'm happy with the front end height but this isn't a tall front end. Keep your eyes open for Marin to release something soon... sorry I can't say more...

No, not the same. The previous Gestalt X and DSX were extremely similar (DSX was based on the Gestalt X with some geometry tweaks to make the flat bars and short stem reach a better fit) but this new Gestalt X is entirely different.

Thanks for this video. Do you know if Marin is going to release a 2024 version of this bike? With maybe your comments on potential improvements taken into account. Or at least another paint job?

Funny! The day after I wrote this, i can find information on the 2024 version right on their website. Now it has APEX and a black and grey color .

Is it compatible with front suspension?

Hello you talk about size large being a good fit for you. How tall are you, reason why asking is because on my road bike I feel great on a 58 which xl but in mtb I’m using a large size? So idk if should I place the an order in a XL or L frame

Hi, I'm 6'1 and rode the Large. It is very hard to compare geometry charts with this bike because it is designed around such a short stem.

This bike replaced the X11. They share similar components but the frame changed and Marin started using "XR" to distinguish the top of the line version of a number of their bikes.

This bike has a much more MTB geo than the X11. head tube is 67.5 on this. This one also takes larger tires.

How does it ride on the road ?

What makes that bike great is the geometry and you want to change it! all? ....just buy a different bike! There's are reason why the chainstays are short, etc. You should spend time with it, so maybe you would understand how it all works!
