    Just an fyi should you find yourself in another GT. When you turned on sport mode you disabled the loud exhaust by pressing the exhaust button on. When you using sport/race mode the exhaust button does the opposite as sport/race mode automatically opens up the exhaust.

    I have the FE V6 auto with touring chassis arriving in a few months. Since it's going to be my daily sports car and no intention of bringing it to a track. I still like my decision. The I4 is probably the best daily, but I like the supercharger.

    Sport with a manual V-6 all day long. Was the pedal offset noticeable in the Emira? I know you have size 13s, only 11s here and the pedals felt fine to me in the Evora 400. Thanks for this!

    Great review. I have been on the waitlist for the Emira for several years. The 6800 redline is a travesty for a 100k car. TBD if it is fatal to my purchase decision in light of additional delays. The motor does not suit a 100k car, and I’m a former Elise owner as well.

    My understanding is that because they have yet to approve the Emira in California due to emission standards, it cannot be delivered in the US. There are hundreds of them siting in parking lots in the US. That will not play out well.

    Thank you for this review! It's too bad you drove an automatic Evora GT. The real fun is with the manual. I've driven both the Emira and the Evora GT and bought the GT. In addition, I've done a 3rd Cat delete, cold air intake, and dyno tuned it. My Evora GT has 504bhp and 439 ftlbs of torque with a 0-60 time of 3.5 sec. I wanted a driver's car, and I got one. The weakest link in that car is me, lol

I have headers, upgraded IPS transmission and no cats accept just before the muffler (because the sound was deafening). I also have larger injectors and made a smaller pulley. Please tell me your tuner and what they did. 🙏🏼I have been into this for over a year with a epic fail.

    My Lotus Emira V6 automatic is my daily driver. I had two Elise’s and an Evora S IPS before. Doing a disservice to the V6 by choosing the automatic transmission? I disagree entirely: one, nobody can shift that quickly manually and two, try the manual in every present traffic jams in daily Life. Just doing this one test does not allow you to see the benefits of the AT in full I guess.

    Agree with Jubbal here, it’s a bit of a personal preference thing, but I can’t stand mushy shifts even at low acceleration/revs. Funny enough, the ZF8 in the G87 I also hated in the test drive (for this type and price of car). Otherwise the PDK is amazing and even the Alpine A110 gearbox I had no issues with. The ZF8 feels very robust but fake in the M2. They just put a super heavy flywheel to get the shove on WOT upshifts. Also the downshifts were never crisp

  • @bartpeterleroy8378

    The auto gearbox is a 6-speed Toyota/Lexus unit rather than a ZF. The shifts are buttery smooth under low throttle, but can be rather aggressive when in Track mode, when they are also majorly quick. I believe that you have to be a racing driver to shift more quickly than that. But I respect all comments made.

  • @bakhteria

    The beauty of this car continues to impress but in absolute contrast, Lotus HQ communication and service is fugly. After having my deposit in for 2 years, I just requested a refund. What a shame! I was once very excited but now it feels just way too risky to part 100k for a car with little support. I think a better move for me is to buy a used 981 Boxster GTS and pocket the difference… or maybe at equal cost a low mileage 718 4.0 BGTS

    I drove sport chassis on Skyline in the San Francisco Bay area. They felt perfect. Certainly not too harsh at all. The tour that I have driven felt too squishy on our roads. I think for British b roads or Michigan/Northeast roads tour would be preferable. If you are an aggressive canyon driver, definitely go sport.

    I don't know if anybody has mentioned it yet, but the way the automatic shifter works makes perfect sense. With a traditional automatic you move the shifter down to go through PRNDL, and up to go through LDNRP. With a manual transmission you go from left to right to upshift and right to left to downshift, which is exactly the way this shifter works. It makes 100% sense.

  • @jubbalandcars

    @jubbalandcars

    7 ай бұрын

    In manuals half the upshifts are moving front to back (e.g. third to fourth). Pushing forward to downshift and backward to upshift is how it should be on an automatic shift lever

  • @erickraus1256

    @erickraus1256

    7 ай бұрын

    Yes, half, as you said, so it could go either way. You move the shift lever up and down an equal number of times to upshift and downshift (depending on transmission). So, again it makes perfect sense to move the shifter down to progress through the gears since that is the natural way to move out of Park and into Drive, and up to regress through the gears, since that is the natrual way to move out of Drive and into Park. But hey, to each their own. I would never purchase the automatic anyways.

    When driving fast you can’t be bothered with left-right. Accelerate -> pull back and Decelerate -> push forward, being consistent with your body movement. That’s how all racecars with sequentials have been and it’s also been the convention for most sportscars (with stupid Porsche in the mid 2000-2010s being an exception)

    it always astounds me why anyone would care about the interior quality of a Lotus.. as long as it works, that's all that counts.. it's ALL about the driving experience with a Lotus. The Emira is just plain boring and too heavy.. Elise, Exige and Evora is where it's at, and let's not get started on the EV shit they're producing now.. Good comparison on the auto transmission. Great review otherwise!

  • @jubbalandcars

    @jubbalandcars

    If you had the option of a better interior, why not take it? I love the way the Elise drives (and likely also the Exige but never driven) Evora and Emira are different animals than other light weight Lotuses, but are more similar than different. Evora and Emira are within 30lb of each other weight wise.

  • @BigTwat

    @BigTwat

    2 ай бұрын

    @@jubbalandcars The Evora still 'feels' like a proper Lotus. I've been fortunate enough to have owned Mk1 Elise (no. 538), S2 Exige S, S3 Elise 1.6, S3 Elise Sport 220 and currently an Exige 390 Final Edition over a 23 year period. I test drove an Emira and you feel like you're sitting on top of it, not in it. My 718 Spyder (unfair comparison perhaps) is way more special and actually sounds better which is disappointing as the same engine in my Exige sounds incredible (as long as you retrofit the exhaust bypass valve switch). The Emira represents a missed opportunity for Lotus IMO.. The automatic transmission is clearly pointless given how slow it is. Even the DCT in the 4cld. version hasn't been optimised properly (see Harry's Garage KZread video) which defies logic given it works so well in the Mercedes. Lotus always captivates and frustrates in equal measure. I enjoyed the review, and liked your video. 🙂
