    The spoked wheels that come on the 2023 ktm 390 adv have tubes inside them !!!!! The conti tkc70 tires say tubeless because they can also be used without tubes if the wheels are suitable !! Tubes are not a problem , most off road bikes run tubes with no issues .

    I have a 2020 390 adventure that now has 15000 miles on it. I added mccruise electronic cruise to it 14000 miles ago. Well worth my time and money. By the way never had a problem with the cast wheels. Like the look of the spokes.

    Well you will love the dirt. I use to road race crotch rockets years ago. Had all the well known sport bikes, even two older GSXR1100's. The Flying Tomato was my nick name. For the last 12 years, i have move over to the dual sport/Adv world. I wish i had started this first instead of going fast. I ride a DRZ400 that is one of the most modified DRZ's you will ever see. 52,000 miles of zero issues....knock on wood. Once you ride one of many BDR routes, you will be hooked. The most fun one can have woth theor clothes on....buy be warned.....its and addictive habbit that will dictate all new priorities. Meaning at times, you will buy something you want for your bike versus paying a bill. Ok some serious advice, if you find that dual sport adv stuff is what you like, do not skimp on luggage. I could have bought 3 sets of mosko-moto reckless 80 gear for what i spent on cheap shit. Spend the cash and buy good quality stuff. Like reckless 80. Or buy cheap over and over again. Also join my club, PNW Dual Spory Riders on Facebook for some good fun and advice. Very nice people over in the group. Ride right, ride safe, but get out and ride.

    Weirdly this was the bike I was going to buy before I got my licence, and instead got a TS660! In the UK they still sell the spokes and non spiked version for 2023, but neither come with the crash bars but might come with QS+ as standard? On that front it doesn't really bother me that it's preinstalled as a QS is just two switches and the rest is all software. So triumph charge £290 for the replacement gear rod and another 1/2 hour labour charge to unlock/install the software too. The 390 is a nice bike, and you're getting lean angle ABS and TC too. I'm interested to see what mods you end up doing to the 390 over time.

    I too ride in Arizona and I think because our highways are long and high-speed I couldn’t accept a bike that just doesn’t have the power and smoothness necessary for our conditions. But as a second bike for shorter trips around the Phoenix area that KTM would be fine. Then there’s the tube tires, unless you carry a spare tube, patch kit and the tools to remove the tire (and know how) it means calling a tow truck, or a friend with a pick-up. I feel like you will be getting a larger bike soon to share the garage with your KTM, I am very curious to see what it will be.

  • @KSSTUDIOS

    @KSSTUDIOS

    The KTM is thinner, lighter and just a bit taller. It doesn't have the fit and finish of the Triumph and its nowhere near as powerful, but its easier for me to lug around with back issues. Try to find one in stock and sit on one to get a feel for it. The ergonomics are not miles away from the Tiger Sport.

    @@slakk5093 Yeah I would have to test the waters first over some sandy tracks before I fully commit to the Simpson. I'm torn between the 300L Rally or the 390 Adv as a bike of choice. I haven't ridden for nearly 40 years and as such things such as tractiion control make me seriously think about the 390.

  • @slakk5093

    @slakk5093

    Жыл бұрын

    @@robdotcom71 I wouldn’t worry too much about lack of traction control on the 300 rally, it’s so low power that it doesn’t really need it. I’m also looking at the 300 Rally and the Ktm 390 adv. basically in my opinion: the rally will be far superior off-road, it has soft power but good low down torque and the power is fine for off-road. Need suspension upgrades, but once that’s done it’s really a capable off-roader. It’s tall though, and it’s skinny and light. Not much fun on the road and lacking power for the road. The ktm 390 on the other hand is the opposite, a lot more power for the road, but suffers in its ergonomics. It a road bike deep down, almost more an adventure scrambler. It has horrible foot angle on the pegs and that needs to be changed to flat pegs, and of course the 17/19 wheel size which makes it less capable off-road, but more capable on road. The new 2023 model will have a spoked wheel option, which is nice as many owners cracked rim with the old cast wheels. For me I was leaning to the 300 rally, but now I’m leaning more to the ktm. I don’t know where you live, but I’m in South Australia and here there is long highway travel to get to the good camping and off road areas. I’ve been thinking about this and I think I will enjoy the camping trips more if I can enjoy the long road sections more. I’m riding a wr250r at the moment and it’s super fun once I get off-road, but the 4-5 hours on the highway are not fun at all 😅

    Absolutely ridiculous statement. I've been riding for 25 years, and when you're pushing it, not pottering around, all the modern rider aides not only make you faster, but infinitely safer. You give a quick rider (not a pro) a BMW S1000RR like I have, get into the mountain twisties, switch off everything, and then let me hunt them down with the bike set to Race mode. The other rider will end up dead, or behind me. It's like cheat mode for riders already good. People who say otherwise have no idea. Sorry, just facts.

    @@davidbones8947 Sure, you can eat it if you push too hard - it's not autopilot. It's the older riders, or those who don't buy the pinnacle of bikes, thus haven't ridden the 2023 technology, that make these statements. Stuck in 80/90s ABS technology - or lower spec units on cheaper bikes... Yep, intrusive, barely works, likely more dangerous. But that's like comparing a 90s computer to today's tech. There's not a truly experienced rider who rides a new S1000RR (or equivalent bike) that doesn't think the tech works and makes them faster and safer. Also, in rain mode, when the road is wet, I don't want 200hp, I don't want the rear to spin, I want a lot of stopping power. How can that be seen as a negative. Give me a break.
