I would admit at first I wasn't feeling the look of them but they are definitely growing on me kind of want one but I wait a yr or to to get the bugs out of the system see 2 yrs later on new technology 10 speed trans and engine.and hopefully honda does away with idle stop and vcm 2 useless technology

@Hondamobilemechanic yup still great 1 yr later .funny when I had my 2000 accord exl 4 cyl ,my mom had 2000 accord exl 6cyl hers had hood struts mine didn't not sure why. since then I put them in my 2008 crv and then in my pilot .

Corolla and Civic not coming with hood struts is understandable, anything higher than these should have them. Good video!

Exactly, it makes zero sense.

I bought a set of these tsubasa hood struts for a 2010 pilot and stuck them on my 2010 TSX 🤣 They actually work pretty well considering they're not designed for my car 🤣

I like the prop rod. It allows you to open the hood all the way when servicing the car. The hood struts don't.

The hood struts are nice but a major inconvenience doing bigger jobs. On cars with oem hood struts you can usually move them into service mode. I’ll have a short on that soon.

I would do that mod if I owed one of those also but I’m pretty sure they don’t come with them like the cr-v due to the double hood latch design and the specifics Honda says to close it. (Hold 12” above and let the weight of that heavy ass hood close it)

Meh....I prefer the prop rod. Don't have to worry about the hood falling on my head when the struts fail, and I like the "service mode" position.

I prefer the manual hook prop. The struts always gets in the way and it doesn't raise the hood high enough when you need it to. plus struts is just another maintenance item.

On a side note zf transmission will be making certain transmissions in the U.S starting in 2025 (south Carolina) wonder if this will be bad or good?

I’m not sure but Honda is cutting ties with the zf accord new model introductions. So shouldn’t affect us Honda/Acura owners much longer. In a side note, I don’t hate them but do prefer the 10at.

I would do that for a car with a engine bay to be proud of. This sub 300Hp v6 on a 3 row suv is nothing to showcase about

I’m indifferent, although it means for fail points which is a negative imo.

I usually put a flash light directly on it. Tbh I can’t even recall where these are. I haven’t worked on many yet (which is a good thing)

@@BCautosolutions when i shine a light directly at the tank still cant see the fluid as the tank isnt great with being transparent unfortunately and yeah i guess thats a good thing :) luckily had my coolant flushed just wanted to know of any ways to double check the tank to keep the levels up. Maybe if i keep the radiator topped up nothing to worry about?

I put these on my 2021 Pilot with aluminum hood and the struts were too strong and my hood would nearly bend every time I closed it. So they came off

I installed a set in my 2020 pilot zero issues .sounds like your kit was off on specifications on the kit you got or even though it said it was ment for the car isn't always true

1, like 70k if I recall correctly. Seen a lot more 6at ones fail.

These 9ATs are not found on the new Pilot and they are gone from Acura. You will only find them on Passport and Ridgeline and the Passport will part ways with the 9AT soon, leaving Ridgeline as the last 9AT Honda standing

Mine in a 2017 Pilot just failed at 76,580 miles, my mechanic had one same year fail at 80,000 last summer.

Hi there, i have an oil burning issue and use 0w-20 what they recommend on my honda civic 1.8 2012. My low oil level warning comes on alot especially when driving over rough roads or hilly roads. Is it ok to use 5w-30 or isnt this a good idea? Also i heard that i should rev my car to red line every now and then to get piston rings seated, should i do this? The engine is on 95k miles so not alot.

Switching to 5w30 could help although sounds like the damage could be done.

@@weatherwatcher5303 probably does at this point. At your own risk you can try 1 qt of atf and rest oil at your next few oil changes to help free those rings, again at your own risk.

Nice! I'd get some but they don't have struts for the first Gen Pilots. Any suggestions for tailgate struts for a Pilot? I've replaced mine with factory and aftermarket and when it gets below 60F they don't have the force to push the tailgate all the way up.

@@BCautosolutions Yes, first generation for the tailgate struts. Looks like there may be hood struts for 2nd generation Pilots. I'm going to look for installation instructions and see if the mounting location is same or similar enough for my first generation.
