    Really glad I found this channel mate. I think your reviews are excellent and enjoy the "classics" as well! I'm pleased you enjoyed the drive in these. We need a do-it-all, have had a 2005 Fit for 10 years as our "second car" (makes me feel flash saying that) that we just can't figure out a reason to sell having daily driven it and shifted house in it (3 times and at distance) and road tripped in it...We liked the Crosstar and then we also sat in a grey RS and thought we'd look way cool (ok my wife thinks only granmas drive these)..the exterior design is a step up. From certain angles they look great (my left eye has a cataract so..).but the interior is outstanding. I think they nailed it. We just love the space and the magic seats and the looks now. And we liked the grey Civic Type R as well. We liked it very, very much indeed. It was also in grey. But it's gone....sigh....

    Great overview of the new models. Honda South Africa also gets very similar specs to NZ, except they've switched the Jazz to the Fit name for this generation. But I still find it weird that our indicator stalk is on the left (like the Euro cars), and not on the right as I've always known and expected Japanese cars to be.

    As a (rare) American who really enjoyed owning a 2nd gen 5MT Fit Sport (Jazz), I gotta say this new gen really steps up the quality and feature set. But the styling isn't as sporty as past generations and enthusiasts would prefer a proper manual transmission. KiwiCarLife; keen for your feedback on the B mode in the LS vs the paddles in the RS. A Honda dealer principal told me this week the RS paddles were a gimmick but we live on a steep hill and I cannot convince my partner to use paddles for engine braking whereas from my trucking background I always use them. The LS appeals due to the extra soft fruit [leather, heated seats, wireless charger] but if you felt the RS paddles were offering better regenerative braking that might be the key issue. It does annoy me that Honda don't fully apply their safety suite to the Jazz; no BSM or RCTA whereas it's finally in the ZRV. Seems like a major fail for a city car.

  • @KiwiCarLife

    @KiwiCarLife

    Жыл бұрын

    Yeah RS definitely has stronger regen braking than the Luxe. And imo BSM and RCTA are gimmicks for people who can’t drive. I’ve never owned a car with any active safety features and I’m quite happy about that. Cruise control and Bluetooth/Aux are literally the only two features I care about. The rest is all relating to the drive, handling, gearbox, engine etc. But yeah would be nice if it had it

    How does the new Jazz HEV perform in steep inclined roads? The engine has some good torque, wich drives the generator, and the generator drives the electric motors. How does the torque translate, specially when climbing inclined roads? Any tests done in this aspect? Thanks for the insight.

    The three drive modes of the RS (Sport/Normal/Eco) not only affect the throttle response, but the suspension as well . In Sport mode the suspension is tight and the ride quite.....firm. In Eco mode the throttle response is less responsive, the EV "assistance" tends to be more frequent even at higher speeds and the suspension is much softer than in Sport mode. That being said, it is still a firmer ride in Eco in the RS than the luxurious (but tight) ride of the Luxe Sport. Fractionally better fuel economy in the RS using Eco mode than the Luxe Sport IF you use the regenerative braking paddles too.

    pretty expensive for small car! not a fan of CVT transmission, i own the first gen EHEV Jazz and really not enjoying the trany! Still regretting not getting the Yaris Cross hybrid instead! But by saying that i really enjoy the interior cabin it is very well thought design which something i dont like about the Yaris Cross' typical toyota old style dash.

    Fair enough. Yaris cross coats way more and still has CVT though

    I have a 2013 Honda Fit, and really miss that Honda quit bringing them into North America. I do not want a !##$A SUV, which apparently is all they think North Americans drive. Guess next machine will be from someone else. 2023 Jazz looks like it meets my requirements perfectly. Too bad.

    I keep my Mini Cooper electric over any of these two Hondas! Done spending money on petrol and sending my money to the oil sheiks in the Middle East.

    Is it the actual engine though or just audio being pumped into the cabin? Why does it have fake shifts.. lmao

    @@pass_the_flask why it has fake shifts. because even honda know CVTS Are shit and dont want others to know. It is sadly the actual engine noise
