    Warrior pads have always worked really well for me. The professor strap and slide plates are a nice addition. It's also nice they'll let you increase the thigh rise, their 33 fits me perfect, but I'd like about an inch more thigh rise so like 33+2.5. Also, unlike my vaughns where the inside looks gross (white nylon blech), warriors stay nice for a long time.

    Ageed, they have made some nice improvements and they do look nice for a long time. My knee pad velcro has scuffed up the knee block a little on my GT2 that I've had 4-5 years, but otherwise they look great!

    Maria @5:48 you speak of adding more height to your knee stack. How would you actually do that? Is there a warrior accessory/product that you would use, or are you referring to a medication you would create yourself? Did the slide plates come with the pads or did you have to buy those separately? Another question I have is, 8 months after this video was uploaded, are you still using the G6’s on a regular basis (knee stack, toe area, inner material starting to wear or creating holes, etc..)? If so, are there points of wear you are finding? Any places wearing quicker than you thought should be?

    Here's how to add to your knee stack - kzread.info/dash/bejne/aqZh09Whe5jQgbg.htmlsi=ck3OX3T0OqFP7Lcn The slide pads came with the G6s, but I think you can also buy them separately. Yes, I still use the G6s and there is no major wear or holes or anything. My other set of Warriors I've had for three+ years and they are holding up great too - just some wear on the velcro.

    Great review, Maria. I'm envious as I really like Warrior equipment. I currently use the original R/GT pads which are very similar to your R/GT2 minus a few minor things. I would have liked to get the G6 but the price increase over the past few years has put this in a tough range for me right now. I do have G4 gloves and G6 gloves so it would have been nice to have the pads too. Instead, I ended up getting the Bauer GSX S23 as it is a new lower price point. I too use intermediates so that certainly helps the wallet. The GSX also has extra straps to help with calf support without impeding rotation. I've only used them once but was quite happy with them in my first game use.

    How do you like the G6 glove and blocker? What difference do you see from the G4s? My pads are GT2, but I have the G4 glove and blocker. Glad to hear you found some new pads that you like so far - always fun finding the sweet spot with new gear.

    @@goalietraining Overall I am happy with G6 glove and blocker. With the trapper, I find the G6 has a slightly shallower pocket but a pointier/further reach to the tip. But the general feel is very much the same between the G4 and G6. They both have the removable palms which I really like. Trappers tend to get a bit smelly over time so being able to throw them in the wash periodically helps. The blocker on the other hand (literally and figuratively) has a snugger cuff strap and a thinner fingers shield. I like the cuff to be loose to have lots of mobility so this tighter strap even on the loosest adjustment takes a little getting used to. The slim fingers shield though I find annoying as it sometimes gets in the way when picking up the stick. Really have to open hand wide and go on an angle to avoid the shield from getting in the way. It is curved and contoured to the fingers so it does protect well. But I personally prefer the G4 blocker. While it had a beefier fingers shield, it never got in the way when picking up my stick. The cuff strap on the loosest adjustment on the G4 is looser which fits my preference better. I'm getting used to the G6 gloves but I don't know if it is just that i'm used to the old G4's but generally speaking I like my G4's better. The G4 felt great from the start. The G6 needs getting used to.

    Great review Maria! I just ordered a set of G6's to replace my GT-2s. Both are SRr 33+1.5, but I find the new G6s bulky, even awkward compared to my GT-2s. You mention that you have the same size for both your sets. Did you notice any difference?

    I did not - - I did have a bit of that when I got new GT2s a few years ago, but I swapped out the stock bungee toe tie for a prolace bungee toe tie and that fixed it. However on my g6's, the stock toe tie (the same as the GT2s) is just fine.

    I use a senior glove and blocker. One nice thing about the Warrior G4s (that's what my glove and blocker are) is that you can put an intermediate palm in a Sr glove. But I also have pretty long hands - like I used to be able to palm a basketball.

    I don't know Michael - I would say I have an average width butterfly, so I can't say how it would feel for goalie who is narrower. I wonder if with a softer pad if you'd be able to bend that thigh block a little more to close the 5-hole more. Not sure.

  • @goalietraining

    @goalietraining

    7 ай бұрын

    Hmmmmm - - not sure if they are actually taller, I don't think so. My GT2s might be a little compressed from use (I like to lean my elbows on my pads when the play is at the other end). In terms of them fitting taller or feeling taller - no I don't think so.

  • @tedlane9877

    I put my new G6 pad beside my 3 year old GT-2, both are 33+1.5. They are different in shape, but the knee blocks and tops line up almost exactly. The G6 might be a tiny bit < 1/2' taller, but, as Maria suggests, that could just be some compression in the GT2's.despite that, I do find that the g6's look and feel bigger than the GT2's, likely due to the different styles, shape and stiffness of the G6's.
