I apologize for the audio quality issue towards the end of the video. The edited video did not turn out that way, which means at some point during the upload to youtube the audio deteriorated.

Beautiful TOUGH
I believe the payload sticker is the responsibility of the upfitter.
Can you do a follow up on this video with examples of a hauler bed for a big fifth wheel?

Agree, show us what's out there and good =) There are some quick clips of one in his last 2(?) videos, iirc. He shows some 5500 or F550 rigs with the beds and one bed is sitting unmounted.
These prices... mind-blowing 🤯
$70,000 for an XLT is outrageous

Thanks Joe Byron
Instead of those center console ac vents, Ford could have opt for rear hvac unit mounted underneath the rear seat, and air vents on the roof liner. Like those used on 3 row SUVs.
Awesome 👍🏻
Thanks for the video JD If possible, could you make a video discussing specific payload capacities of the chassis cab vs regular pickup truck configuration. I am also curious as to what your options are if you were to get a regular pickup truck and then want to add something like a flatbed afterwards since the frame design would be very different than a chassis cab. Additionally, more discussion on pros and cons of chassis cab vs pickup would be great. Thank you sir.
I have a F250 Platinum 4 wheel drive that I pull my 5th wheel with. If I were get motivated to upgrade trucks I would have to look real hard at the Ram Chassis Cab or the Ford Chassis Cab. My 5th wheel is a 16,200 gvw. I would be very interested in the F450 or F550. Thanks for the video.
I could see mounting/building a truck camper on this thing. Something like the Everlanders build. side note- Is it time for an on the go camera/ mic upgrade? Maybe even go 4k to capture the details of the high end rigs? the audio at the end was almost painful. But the content was worth it.

Wow, I just noticed the audio. That wasn't my camera or mic. It actually sounds fine in my edit. It must have somehow deteriorated during upload to KZread.

Dunno anything about the Everlanders, but Four Wheel Campers (their "Granby" and "Hawk" models in particular) are very popular in that market.
I seriously considered a chassis cab, but by the time you factor in the cost to upfit a hauler bed it just wasn’t worth it. You get a derated engine on all of the chassis cab trucks-gas or diesel. A lariat trim is available, but many features that are standard on the lariat pickup aren’t even available as an option on a chassis cab. The unladen ride is horrible unless you spend even more money upgrading to air suspension. Unless you need the frame to put a specialty bed on or need to handle more than 5k of pin weight it’s hard to justify a chassis cab truck. The lightest weight hauler bed and flat beds are still heavier than a pickup bed. So the payload advantage that everyone cites isn’t really there. A F350 chassis cab with hauler bed has less payload capacity than a F350 pickup because the bed weighs so much more.
Thanks for this, really appreciate it JD. Are gas chassis cabs as common as diesel? Do they offer three quarter ton chassis cabs?
@BigTruckBigRV

Yes and yes.
Keeping the rear tank topped off is probably a must to keep the ride decent
@dbkonkle
Жыл бұрын
You won’t notice a difference in ride full or empty. A chassis cab truck will beat you up until the rear axle gets up to at least to 3/4 of its rated capacity.
What’s up with the non-vented exhausted on the diesel?
Cab and chassis models still “de-rated” for power and torque?
Heard today Ford's recalling 2016 Super Duty because of air bags. Your's is a 2017? Just a heads-up.

Can you add a Pick Up Bed from a Junk Yard to the New Super Duty Chassis Bed Truck? Would they fit?

No the bolt on pattern would be quite different..... you'd have to rig pretty bad

The cab to back of axle measurements are different, plus on the 350, the duals are closer together.
Why did the audio begin to fail at the end talking about power
Do they have Manual Transmission R Automatic Automatics R heavier.
7:05 you might be “paying” for the bed on the F-350 pick up but if I’m hauling a giant and heavy 5th wheel I don’t want the derated powerstroke you get in the chassis cab. I want the HO powerstroke with all horsepower and torque you can get. It’s my dream to have an F-350 and a fifth wheel to take my kids places but the prices of trucks and campers is just nutty now. You’re talking a couple hundred thousand for a fifth wheel and a truck.
I have seen more chassis cab versions of the new super duty than pickup trucks on the road.
Cost of getting a bed put on urtruck ?

Yes, 18k installed for an aluminum gooseneck service body. It has toolboxes so I can work at home but will clear a fifth wheel for when I travel. Truck and bed haven’t been delivered yet so it’s only a hopeful plan right now.
Still only a GVWR of 14000# same as pickup
Chassis cab are derated and part of the consideration, as well.

So the Cab and Chassis Truck have less power then if it has a Bed?
@plem7210
6 ай бұрын
@@robwar2288 Since allot of the chassis trucks are used for business. Dialing back the engine power. Normally gains you even more long term durability. You might get slightly better milage also. Since business tend to keep these trucks way longer than a private customer would. At some point how much power do you need. It’s not like you are buying a sports car.

Chassis cab 6.7 is 330hp/950tq. You lose horsepower but torque is close. I tow slow so I’m figuring it will be better than my current Godzilla.
Does Ford still make the F-600? It was like a heavy-duty f-550, Like maybe 21 or 22k GVWR.
