Ducati’s brochure says that the Streetfighter V2 is basically a Panigale V2 with no bodywork. In reality, well, that’s pretty much exactly what it is. So, is the smaller Streetfighter worthy of the name? And how does it work when it’s not on a race track? Zack hits the Daily Rider route to find out.

If you’ve read about any of the modern Ducatis they all have they natural option.
In these kinda conditions it is so obvious how good of a rider Zack really is! Doesn't matter wet or dry, he still delivers the same program. Awesome bro!
Fair review! Thumbs up. I owe this bike for a year now and you describe perfectly what it is. I’ve ridden it for 5 to 10-hour straight trips on mountain and countryside roads, I’ve ridden it on track, a bit in the city (which this bike simply hates), I’ve ridden it with and without passenger… and I’ve come to the same conclusions as you. I bought it just a couple of months after it was announced and there were not many reviews online. So when taking the decision to buy, I had to trust a couple of bike-magazine journalists’ reviews from a press day on YT, what Ducati said about its bike (the PR type of texts and descriptions which fortunately weren’t just press promotion, but turned out faithful to reality), + a couple of test rides I did myself. I personally thank you for your objective review and answers to the q&a section. This review does justice to what this bike is! ❤
For 18k not having a fuel guage is almost a deal breaker. Yeah I can guesstimate or open the tank and look, but having a monitor (even though they're very picky depending on how much the bike is leaning) is huge when getting an idea on when I should expect to stop and fill up. I know it's such a little thing, but for the price range and the pedigree that comes with the brand I feel like it's a huge miss

It’s not an oversight. My 748 and 900SS don’t have fuel gauges either. It’s a Ducati thing.

Even if it had one, it will go tits up in about 10K miles, so you actually might be saving time/money by not having it if it fails outside the warranty window lol Ducati's fuel sensor is notorious for its failure rate.

You're not crossing the Serengeti with these things. I just ride my bike, and when the light comes on and the km count starts (Kanukistani here), I try to pull in to a station before I hit 30 or 35 klicks. One less thing to be checking and worrying about, frankly. As someone else said, it's kind of a Ducati thing, an Italian shrug on the whole issue.
@aluisious

@@ferociousfrankie yup my Ducati fuel sensor died during warranty. If it died again I don’t think I’d bother to replace it, it cries for gas 3.5 gallons into a 5 gallon tank.
Sweet bike, Zack! Really making me miss riding. Spent many fun miles riding Mulholland and the numerous surrounding canyon roads. The vibration of the motor, the feel of wind, the smell of the sagebrush in the canyons...man, good times!

Just brilliant, thanks gor the real world view. Always great communication for the feel of a machine.
I marvel at your commitment, on the dirt bike road! Any bike, any weather, anytime. Top marks! 👍🏻
It really is a hell of a good looking bike.
We're waiting on that zx4rr review Zack!
Since I moved from the PNW to SoCal 12 years ago, the rain in fact does slow me down 😀 having implemented the “no rain gear rule”.
The left side of the tracks are a GREAT option compared to the lake on the right side.
The puddle portion of the ride just stresses me out, thank you for finding a little dirt! If you have something more offroad friendly make a try at the puddle side, but be kind to the nice bikes. You don't take the little bikes on highway, so a detour for street bikes is acceptable if the dirt road is in lake mode.
@Maccaroney

100% agree. I see the value in the 'dirt road section' to tell us whether one should route around a dirt road or not but when it's a mud-bogging section i'm not sure it's worth doing other than for the entertainment factor. But maybe it's worth it for the entertainment alone.

Gas gauges on a bike are notoriously inaccurate. The tanks are irregular shapes & the volume is often
@relyt_gnast
Жыл бұрын
If you saw the shape of the fuel tank, you would understand why there is no fuel gauge. A fuel gauge isn't just something on a dash, it's a literal float gauge in the tank. No one has developed a fuel gauge that can fit/read in these fuel tanks or on Panigale V4/SFV4 and Hyper 950.
A corvette and a Ferrari are both sports cars. They both accomplish the same thing. There is a difference. Even if blindfolded you can tell the difference. Same with Ducati vs a MT09 etc. Do you need a Ferrari no. But if you have the money yes. Some people just want dependable transportation no drama. Some people want an adventure. They are excited about tomorrow’s adventure. This is a bike you enjoy looking at as much as riding. Moving work of art. Very exclusive like a fine bottle of wine.
Very nice to watch as always Zak..... I actually FF when you went for the mud..........😆
Great to see a rainy ride.... I was beginning to think it never rains in California. .

Appreciation comment for that sponsor logo on the wall that looks really cool
Suggestion! I watch all of your uploads and enjoy all of them, I just wish you adjust your camera more toward the road., I dont really care about the fuel cap but enjoy seeing where I'm heading!
Zach how is the wind on the highway having no windscreen. Love the looks and power of the bike.
How about a Daily rider review of the 2022-23 Suzuki GSX-750 no abs? Love the show, keep up the great work.
Awesome bike to ride. How does it compare to Street Tripllr RS?
to me it seems like a mini tuono, great bike if you're a 50/50 rider (street and track) but for pure street use, id still get the monster, or a hypermotard before the streetfighter V2.
Is there a video for the Panigale V2 review mentioned at 5:38? I can't seem to find it. Thanks!
I love these videos.
Please test the Kawi z900RS. I would love to see what you think of that bike!
Keep ‘em coming
Would it make sense to switch from a mt09 2022 to v2 for nyc daily riding ?
Those mirrors look exactly the same as the original 1098 version ... with same issues. If they are buzzing you can tighten the bolts connecting them to the handle bars. The RHS mirror uses a reverse thread.
Sexy bike reminiscent of my first gen Aprillia tuono V-2. It seemed great “on paper”, but sucked at track days, had limited range, (28 mpg when pushed) & was uncomfortable as hell on the street. It looked cool though.
After top gear and grand tour, u guys have most funny touring videos.
Hey Zack love the series. Can you do the Diavel or xDiavel?
Hay!! Just the snow piles off the north roof left here in Vermont and some ice on the pond. A few more details on the '99 SV 650 and this week will be dry. My problem with the Duc as a daily ride to work is I'd just never make it to work. My life expectancy would also be cut in half. OTOH ...... I'm retired and I could sell some land .......................................................................... but that would be bad timing.
One way to think about which is best, consider which one you would want in your garage a year or two down the road? V2 for certain...
Good way to start a Saturday!!!!
Great review. Could you please do some traffic filtering while you ride these (somewhat wider) bikes so we could get a feel of how easy/hard it is. Thanks.
Look at that rain. Good for you LA, our southern sister. Truthfully I just dab at videos like this because I know I will never spend this much on a bike. I'm guessing it starts at like $20K or something?
I owned a 1098 streetfighter and can definitely relate to the crotch reference you said, lolol. Good times, definitely most rowdy machine ive ridden
The cam angle is not as bad as Zack's upside down phone screen protector, that tingles me. LOL
That’s a bad ass bike. Ill keep my street triple for a few years and then it’ll be this or the Tuono.
I remember a video you guys made, it was about old GSX-R 1000 VS New Panigale. Where the Panigale could not keep up :p
Might be cool to see a track day comparo with some sticky tires against a standard Tuono or S1000R, or S1000XR with cheap, raised footpegs for that matter. That last part got a bit specific, but against a relatively expensive for a track bike yet super cool option as the SV2 is, it would be great to see it fulfill its purpose in some ways and see how it "measures" against what could be a variety of cool others.
Please review the new Diavel V4 as soon as you can, I can't wait for your video on it.
Zack, any thoughts on doing a Daily Ride on a Buell XB12? Obviously it'd be a used bike, but I keep debating an XB12SS for a daily hooligan commuter...

Not just you. Sorry about that, we were working with a new mount and I fudged it up.
Can it power wheelie in second gear?
Will you ever daily ride some not that old-old BMWs? Like the 650s or f800s, which I found to be great daily riders. The newer 850 and 750 doesn't seem that appealing yet.
Standard Tuono 1100 V4 or a Streetfighter V2?
I was just thinking that I have never seen you stall a bike. I stall on occasion and especially when I am riding a new bike, but you seem to have it down. Then you stalled. Made me feel a lot better
I think your comment on why it doesn't get the smile emoji is why I haven't felt *desire* for any of the modern Ducati lineup. I don't want a bike with super impressive numbers (including price) just to say I have a bike with those numbers. I would rather figure out how to adapt my riding to an interesting bike than bend a bike to my will with a bunch of electronics. That's why I love my SF848 (which cost me less than a new SV650 by the way 😄 and even the stock exhaust sounds great) and am looking towards a 1198S or S4RS as my next bike (to add to the stable, not replace anything) versus a new SF or Panigale. The new bikes are incredible pieces of technology and I'm glad they exist, and they *absolutely* make sense if you need a bike that can serve multiple purposes and don't mind paying a premium for dealer services. They definitely have more appeal for track jocks than garage tinkerers, though.
At how many miles and what is the dealer charge for the major valve inspection service?

I wonder if the Ducati Monster is a better daily. Perhaps more manageable at low RPM's and maybe better at wheelies?
Pretty neat looking.
Please if you see this I'd love some Intel I want to know about this bike vs the mt09sp I have been thinking about both for so long
Why is your screen protecter upside down??
He mentions the different tune will not effect your daily ride, but in all actuality it fully relates to that daily ride. The lower rev higher low end torque is much better for daily driving around town use in the streetfighter, than the Panigale, who is tuned for the top end, higher horsepower "screamer" Super Sport "hyper" bike scene. Granted both have more than enough, the point is one is designed and tuned more for one situation than the other.
@RevZilla This was a good video, I’d like to see a comparison of the Ducati street fighter, the supersport and the Daytona 660 but from the perspective of a passenger. There are no videos on this that I can find and I want to pick a bike for scooting around town that is also the most comfortable out of the three for an occasional date ride for my wife. From the little info out there that I have found it seems as if the Ducati supersport is the best of the three but a side by comparison would be really helpful.
I like it A-LOT! 🤟😎
Beautiful bike as always Ducati knows how to make a pretty bike, too bad the price xD

I love my SF V2. Perfect pairing with my Multistrada 1200S. The mirrors do suck, and the lack of a fuel gauge is lame. Otherwise, it’s an awesome bike. And yes, it’s fast enough to have fun on track. I’m a former expert-level racer (quite a few years ago…but I can still squeeze into my leathers).

I love that Ducati continues to try and do something different with their exhaust (made difficult because of EU regulations). It's such a MAJOR styling line. While not surprising, 18k is....18 bloody k. That said, does anyone else think the front end looks like a mantis? Triumph takes the crown in this regard (speed triple bug-eyed design) but, that low slope, narrow-eyed look is not doing it for me. What happens if you get a GF/Wife on the back!? Screen looks great, btw. 15:44 speaks to the engineering of the bike. Great review!
