the #1 tip for the application letter is: don‘t tell them what you already did (they can just look at your resume for that). in the letter you need to tell them *what you can do for them* for example: based on my experience with i can take responsibility for in your team employers have problems. employers have tasks that need to be done. tell them you can solve their problems and take the responsibility for those tasks

If you're open to advice from someone who is actually established, businesses don't just want to see how you can flex your code slinging skills. They want to see how you can practically apply those skills to suit their needs. A good example would be taking a database, and creating sql scripts to groom and export the data to another table and then displaying said data to demonstrate some sort of BI. I give this example because it directly targets any business you might be applying to, and through the short synopsis of the app you already created, it's not too far off. It is important to know your target audience and speak their language though. HR? The hiring manager? They won't know the finer details of that app no matter how hard you try to explain it. By no means am I saying stop doing what you're doing, it's absolutely important to maintain passion, and expand your skillset.

Dude I feel your pain. I'm glad that you're getting interviews. I've dropped about 300 apps since the new year and haven't gotten a single call. I've passed my resume to hiring managers I know and many say things like "If we had an opening I'd interview you" so idk if they're blowing smoke or if the resume is fine I'm just lower on the list for some reason.

Unfortunately although a bit different than your story (working freelancing atleast once every 2 months... a lot right?) and working as a senior for couple of months once... I'm still not financially stable, nor work environment stable... I hope that changes soon. I have so many dreams and projects that i need collegues and time and money to support and create - so i could change life...

@@JordantheComputerScientist sorry to say it’s probably gonna be another year at the minimum before things start to get better. Interest rates have to go down, the election needs to be done, and companies need to start hiring again, and that will take some time. Most we can hope for is that layoffs stop in 2024, which will mean less pressure on the small number of jobs

I agree with this. I remember when I decided to major in CS, I thought “i can get or job or create my own company “ and now is literally the best time to try to become an entrepreneur if you don’t have your career started yet. You either succeed and have money or you fail but created a hopefully impressive project to put on your resume. I’ve been working on small projects and planning others with friends.

The crypto market is a precursor to tech jobs. Becasue it is driven by the same forces that control the tech sector. So you will notice when btc is booming the jobs will pick up about 12 months later. And when btc tops out and starts to tank tech jobs might follow suit 12 months later. Its alot to do debt markets and its impact on things like the ease of liquidity available for things like lending to companies and tech start ups, interest rates etc.. The layoffs was a result of this AND the over employment in the tech space so i don't expect it to get quite as hot as it did in say 2020, but it will get easier for sure. In 12 months time for someone like yourself who will be reasonably experienced with a degree, you are going to be in demand

Keep doing side projects, never stop. Your job will change all the time, you'll have periods of unemployment. I just went through one myself. Your side projects are your own progression, they are the blessing of our industry - where you get to take full control of your skillset, regardless of the state of the industry. Don't stop your side projects, EVER. Computer Science is a blessed industry because regardless of the job market's state, we can build professional skills and experience for FREE, on our own.

come to Poland lol any engineers but especially IT, programmers, networkers are sought after with the national average salary (1.8k€ a month) for the beginers and easily double that with very little expirince.. lots of French and Spanish programmers moved to Poland when they did not find a job in their countries, at least I did speak with many French and Spanish programmers who moved here. Uneployment for engineers in Poland simply DOES NOT EXIST, at my job they constantly look for any new programmers, they don't even require anything, they are willing to teach anyone without any diploma so that if the learn the basics within half a year they stay and still there are no applicants hahaha
