2023 Citroen C3 - New budget champion?
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
The brand-new Citroen C3 has landed in South Africa, but it's no longer French-sourced as it now comes from India. With a recent World Urban Car of the Year title under its belt and an aggressive pricing strategy, could this be the new cheap champion?
In this review, Ashley Oldfield gets behind the wheel of the new Citroen C3 and tests its ride and drive. He also takes a close look at the features, the cabin space and the safety tech fitted. Does the C3 offer enough car for the money?

When he ran away with the backseat 😂
one of the best car reviews I have ever seen in terms of the amount of useful information you pack into 14 minutes.
Watch many C3s start missing their backseats😂😂😂

Does the new Indian-built Citroen C3 offer enough to be a great budget car option?

They are trying, at that price they are in the game, you just have to be aware of what you are getting for your money.

seems like good value for money. I really like the economy.
Good useable review this looks like a decent budget car option for someone who wants something different.
Such a great review! All within 15min. No nonsense info. Thanks a lot! Very useful.
The Citroen C3 is an EXCELLENT option for an small City crossover, but there's one main handicap - There's no CVT or Automatic transmission😢. Rest all is excellent. Citroen better needs to make auto climate control, sunroof and CVT available in all trims. Then it's an real hot cake and winner 🎉🎉🎉🎉

And it ceases to be budget. If they are charging this for what is on offer now, for all those bells and whistles your advocating for the price will easily go above 300k, at that point its in a different market that it cant make an impact.

@@mindfreeze0838 hmmm right, but i think Citroen should be giving this for those who pay the top Rand too.
@mindfreeze0838

@@VinayWebstar i get that but they are basically getting a toehold in the market. They did something similar in India, after a time they added more features and trims as time went on.
Nice review Ash. Uhm the C3 has the correct “urban” criteria but ther are features they could have included but then again the price will shoot up. But electric windows and mirrors has to be standard in 2023! As for the dash, no Mann Citroen looks like a Renault kwid😂 I think I’ll look at a Suzuki but this looks better than competitors just some things lacking 😢😊
Another great review, relaxed, concise and informative.

Sad that we're no longer getting a proper European C3. The Euro one was next level but probably double the price.
Great review. No stability control and not isofix points for a chilled seat 😬 is a deal breaker for many.

child seats? This car is for granny's and students... and lone drivers
Looks like a Kwid for some reason, glad that another brand is competing in the budget class
I feel like Citroen should have named it C2 and sold both it and the previous C3
@SDav21

Yes!! I totally agree. This makes the C3 name look bad. The C3 was meant to be a premium small hatch to an extent that competes with the Polo, 208, Corsa, Clio etc. Not this.
@ishakemyhead799
Жыл бұрын
Agree as well. The “real” C3 looks different, so it creates some confusion, this one should not share the nameplate with a higher end model
😭😭 you come back your backseat is gone. Either than that this is a great budget car worth a consideration no doubt
So many options in Mzansi, pricing is key
What is the status of Citroen in SA at the moment?
So this car is what happens when a premium brand starts to go the budget route, you can see where the focus was, in this case it was tech, which appeals to the young people who would buy a car like this. The manual wing mirrors is bad, but a lack of stability control is dealbreaker as that gives you better control especially at higher speeds and can also help you get out of a situation when you have wheel slip. If however youre more concerned with screen size and infotainment features and digital dashboard availability at budget prices then this is the car for you. On a side note its nice to see that Citreons moves in India are starting to pay off with exports out of India. Their strategy is to make India a local production hub which means that only parts made in India will be put in the cars.

This is why the Chinese cars are so popular under the young people's market. Very funky and full of tech even in the budget versions. Look at Wuling mini ev. R90k - R250k.
@mindfreeze0838

@@etienne6641 thats true.most of the persons I see for instance driving Jolions are young persons while most older folks drive and H6. That Wuling mini though, more power to anyone with the stones to drive it, it has the Bajaj vibes.
Being a tall person in the back of that car seems to be a surefire way of getting whiplash if the car gets hit from behind. It doesn't seem as if those headrests are adjustable?
@Carscoza
Жыл бұрын
They are one-piece seats so the headrests are not adjustable
What about life quality for 10 years apart thanks for the information sir
The front looks so similar to the KWID and the placement of the rear electric window switches is same as that of the CELERIO Both Suzuki and Renault have the 5 year wsrranties Almost looks like it's a mixture of Renault n Suzuki with a Citroen badge
As for running away with the seat 😂
A great review and nice looking car. This would sell well in the UK but unfortunately we don't get this style. We get a C3 hatch and Aircross mini suv but in my eyes they don't look as good.
@mindfreeze0838

They wouldnt dare sell something in Europe without 6 airbags, ADAS and esp. You want EuroNcap to crucify them? At that point btw this car would cease to be budget.

I don't think this is meant for Europe or the UK. None of the Indian built cars are. They're sent to us and Brazil because clearly we have no safety minimums lol. ESP should be standard. The Euro C3 is a much better and more substantial product but will be doubly the price probably.

Who is it that votes for these “urban car of the year” award etc because at this point it feels like every car has its own award
@Carscoza

Each section of the world has a few journalists who vote for the world car of the year. We have an article on our site about it. There are about 8 categories
These vehicles are top heavy for their size, their wheel and body structures according to weigh ratio. Are problematic especially in making tight turns and when loaded. The same goes for smaller Nissans.

Why are car companies filling this country with indian built crap?? And why don't the reviews mention the Euro NCAP safety ratings? In country like South Africa where accidents happen a lot this should be top of the list. But I guess you can't bash a car you get for free

Super unreliable, bought one a month ago and it's already dead , stwitches off while driving and refusing to start not even 1000km on the clock
This car is dead on arrival even in India where it is made.
This car is a MEGA FLOP in India. Hardly sells 700unit per month!
