Your presentation was wonderful Jasmin. I’m originally from Africa and lived through the years when there was no temple on the continent at all and often wondered if our family would ever be able to be sealed in the temple. We eventually went when I was about 15 years old and had to fly to London to make it happen, at enormous financial cost and faith that literally moved mountains. Now that we live in the US and I’m in the Payson temple district I feel so blessed to be literally under 5 minutes away from the temple …imagine my surprise when I went this week and saw all the changes! I loved them and walked out feeling like I was floating on a cloud. Intellectually I always new when I was attending the temple that I was in The Lords House, but this time, I not only knew it, I felt it, I could sense the presence of my Savior throughout the session and I knew I was sitting right where He walked daily. I would go so far as to say this week’s temple visit was one of the most spiritual experiences of my life. I love The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!

I was so grateful to be there the day of the change. I have been going on a regular basis so everything was clear in my mined. I am an artist and notice details. So the change had a profound effect on me as well. I do feel we are being prepared individually for the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. I am so excited to notice things that had changed that testify to me of His arrival. We are living in history. It is amazing to me. And I am grateful to know and feel the spirit in the temple and as I write this post. What a beautiful blessing we have been given. Let God Prevail yall

Jasmin I just found your channel although I have watched your videos at Scripture Central. The way I experienced the newer endowment was ‘like a warm hug from heaven’. Our Father’s and Saviors great love for us was more prevalent and more powerfully displayed and conveyed. Its so heart warming to see the temples filled to capacity! Let us keep up the momentum! Thank you for your commentary.

I went last week and I didn’t know it was going to be different, but I sat in tears and used up all the Kleenex in my pocket as I went through the first portion of the endowment session. It wasn’t even the changes in the words that inspired me. It was a powerful spirit that permeated the presentation that just overwhelmed my heart ❤️. I miss the parts that were delivered by in-person contact and wondered if people would have a hard time assimilating that knowledge without participating in it, but I agree that it was an astonishingly clear explanation, especially for first time attendees. No having to figure out what is implied in the ordinances. The only downside was that I had to request to go first at the end because I had our son’s wedding to get to and hadn’t budgeted enough time for the session so I was now on panic time. Wouldn’t work too well to show up in the middle of the ceremony… 😂😅

New subscriber here. I plan to go to the Chicago Temple for my own endowment in the next 2-3 weeks. I did take the Temple Prep class, so when I saw your video here, I just had to watch. Even though I took the class, I am a little apprehensive, as I still do not know what to expect. My personal Church history is rather unique. I joined the Church 45+ years ago, was active for 3-4 years, then fell away. I only recently came back to Church at the April 2022 General Conference. I am now ready for my own endowment. I am so looking forward to it.

Although I will miss my “water color, sketch book, and scrapbook” presentations, I love the new presentation. I’ve been twice with the new version and today’s session had subtitles which added another layer of learning. There are some words, one in particular referring to patrons, that surprised me by its capitalization. I wondered if a patron in our session had marked hard of hearing or deaf on their appointment but I asked and learned that all sessions will have the captioning going forward. Yay now I don’t have to mark deaf when I attend because the cations add so much. Loving your insights.

If the new endowment insinuates that eve does not need to go through Adam for salvation then no, it does not point to the savior. The fractal pattern of the gospel is throughout the scriptures and clearly teaches that the relationship between men and women mirrors the relationship between Christ and the church. To presume that the woman is not required to go through the man is tantamount to the church not requiring Christ for salvation. This is all nonsense of course

I have been a temple ordiance worker for over 12 yrs. I have loved the changes in that time and again I love these changes. I feel sorrow that we ordinance workers now do less when in the sessions and there is less live format. It was such a privilege to stand at an alter and do what was needed. But I understand why this is no longer. I love how those who are new or returning can have a special experience and its not just too much & blows them away. I also love the changes to the Initatory area and brings into start clarity the need of our temple garment. Especially at a time where this part of our temple covenants seems to be optional, for some, especially when its hot & humid in the tropics, which i where I live.

I also loved the changes. I first went to the temple in 1988 so I have experienced big changes before. I had heard these new changes really made the endowment different, in a negative way. But at the end of the day, I still make the same 5 covenants, I still wear the same sacred clothing, and still have the same experience of learning, and progressing into the Celestial Room. I don't think the additional instruction "dumbed it down"; it just simply made many truths much more clear, and tied more things to what Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ most want from us: to become more like the Savior and to return to live with Them. This will definitely help new temple attendees and help international members. Having visuals throughout the entire endowment will help keep more attention, and the visuals of Christ definitely help make it a more spiritual experience. I also loved the updated language on two of the covenants, that make them more meaningful and modern. Yes of course the language of the endowment should change to meet the needs of the people. God has always spoken every language, including 2023 language!

I felt like they deserved more preparation time before going. Everyone disagreed with me. When the 2023 changes came out, I felt like my prayers had been heard. My heart was so full of gratitude and love for the changes. Now, I feel that those who attend are supported and can learn from their experiences. I'm in an area where there is a shortage of temple workers, and many workers are new to the temple, and they are the only members in their families. Having these enhanced instructions is such a blessing and gift.

I think the changes are phenomenal....person who went through for the first time said "people told me it might be overwhelming - but it made sense to me" (the people did not know these changes were coming when they set those expectations) - one question asked to me after (that I could no answer) was: there is a real change in details of the covenants made right after the fall - it is great - but what about people who took out their own endowments prior to the change-is that previous covenant model or the new covenant model in effect for them"? An interesting theological question....regardless, I found these changes provided for an even greater spiritually uplifting and inspiring experience

Glad to see them finally add changes and making sure people know what they are going to experience and what exactly they are going to promise.

Were your leaders inspired when pre 1990 they made members slit their own throat from ear to ear with their thumb? How about when women had to veil their faces? How about when women had to covenant to their husbands? These "inspired" changes are just fixing problems they created to begin with. Non mormons have already not been placed under the obligation to avoid loud laughter and the other things previously mentioned. Non mormons have been able to attend their loved ones wedding long before these "inspired changes".

It’s all about progressing back to our Father in Heaven. So, over all , it was a beautiful experience that I’ll get used to, and be 100% ok with.

The updates are what I have been longing for for a while!! With the changes in the past I always felt like I was missing out on something. I have always longed to step back in time and learn about the punishments, experience Lucifer’s Preacher, or do a live session in the Mesa Temple (where I’m from). I understand symbols are not eternal and so it makes sense that symbols, analogies, and figures of speech would need to change over time and place to be meaningful to the people receiving it, but as things were removed (like say the use of veils by the sisters) I wondered what insight those in the past were privileged to that we don’t get to have anymore. I always said to myself “I get why we need to remove symbols, but what replaced them?” It only ever felt like we’d get less and less endowment with each change. Now we finally got more!

@@rebeccabaca2909 this is what I am talking about. The veil was never about putting a separation between us and God. The corruption of the symbolic nature of the veil is the precise reason that it makes sense that sometimes symbols can or need to be changed. Satan will do his best to twist people’s perception of when God has ordained. So they had to get rid of the use of the veil and now they have replaced it with the explanation of the veil, which is Jesus Christ and pointed out that the explanation was always there (in the book of Hebrews). Our generation got so caught up in the philosophies of men that we failed to look for the true meaning and the purpose of the symbol was lost, so it was necessary for it to be changed so that corrupt meaning would not creep into the works of God.

I totally saw the changes a few years ago, from live action to stills, as a way to translate easier, and these recent changes, which I experienced yesterday for the first time, as another boon to the expansion of the gospel and temple worship world wide. I find it thrilling to contemplate the realization of taking the gospel to the whole world, as Jesus commanded his apostles, by having a temple ceremony that is so much more accessible and by adjusting the use of temple workers, as well as patron couples. I did a session of initiatories right after the endowment session, and there was a small change there as well, to match the corresponding change in the endowment presentation. On another topic, I attended a session a few months ago where Italian subtitles were showing. I don't know Italian, but I could figure out certain words given the corresponding English narration (this was in the Medford, Oregon temple). It lead me to some interesting insights about the endowment and deeper ways to think about it.

Temple Light: This partial transcript could be used to jump start captions for this video. This week has been a very exciting one in the world of Latter-day Saint Temples. As of Tuesday, February 7, 2023, the church made some pretty substantial changes to the temple ordinances. These were not minor tweaks, they were pretty big and really good. So let's talk about it, but respectfully. As always on this channel, we take our Temple covenants very seriously, so we will not be divulging anything that we covenant not to do. For this video, I'll be talking in more general terms as opposed to a lot of specifics because I do want to be respectful of this very sacred ordinance that is only available to worthy members of the church. I'd also like to emphasize that you really should go see these changes for yourself. You should not rely on some Rando on KZread. Attend the temple, feel God's love there. If you're working towards the goal of going to the temple, keep going because it is so worth it. So first, a little background. From what I know, the largest changes to the temple endowment happened in the 1870s, the 1920s, 1990, and 2005. Obviously, they've of course been a lot more minor changes all through that time, and while adjustments have been made to the presentation of the endowment, the covenants and the doctrines of the ordinances do remain the same. After Christ's death and Resurrection, he altered Temple ordinances from focusing on animal sacrifice to focusing on sacrificing a broken heart and a contrite spirit. But regardless of the format, the law of sacrifice remained in place. In the 19th century, the Lord commanded the Saints to consecrate their property in what was known as the United order. Now, today the church doesn't ask us to donate our property, but we are asked to be willing to contribute to Christ's Church in other ways, and the law of consecration remains in force. Now fast forwarding to President Nelson, this is the third major change that he has made to the temple endowment since he became the prophet in 2018. In January of 2019, he and the temple department made some pretty major revisions to the endowment that highlighted the important role of women in the Plan of Salvation. And it streamlined a lot of the presentation to reduce the runtime significantly. The presentation medium of the endowment changed as well because before 2019, a large portion of the endowment was often presented as film with live actors performing the narration of the Plan of Salvation from creation through the fall. Now in 2019, maybe to facilitate the smooth rollout of these changes but also very likely to simplify translation into a lot of languages, the church took stills from these live-action films and essentially created like an animated slideshow communicating these same principles and narrative points. They cut out various parts of the dialogue and shortened the ceremony quite a bit. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic caused all temples to temporarily close. And as soon as it was feasible, the church did open the temples again. But they made some adjustments to minimize the person-to-person contact so as to prevent the spreading of diseases and pathogens. This included demonstrating some instruction on screen that previously would have been done in person. And now we arrive at 2023, the newest iteration of the endowment is longer than the 2019 version. There's additional dialogue in The Narrative of the Plan of Salvation. There are additional explanations about the meaning of certain symbols and covenants, and most of these editions center around Jesus Christ.

I have not been yet for the new changes, but I am 52 and the impression I am getting is that those who didn't understand the temple, now understand it more clearly. I get the feeling that this is because people now days have to have it explicitly said rather than being able to feel it anyway through the Holy Ghost. To me this indicates younger generations are having more trouble and the temple endowment is more explicit to help. While this may help, I am pretty sure I will come out after seeing the new changes and say "I already knew that".

All ordinances in the temple have at least one minor change. One change may not even be apparent if you aren't paying attention! As a temple worker, we have memorized certain things and now suddenly have to relearn things so we may make mistakes or have to read something instead of just saying it naturally. Please be patient with us! But all the changes are wonerfull if you think about it. One change helps us think differently about proxy ordinances while other changes our relationship with Christ!

I shouldn’t be feeling this way & this should be a heaven on earth but wasn’t for me. I ddn’t know if I wanted to go back & I took my conserns to the Lord. Next time I went back was after I heard about the adjustments & those things that bothered me were removed. I know it’s a sacred place & we must be reverent. The Lord wasn’t pleased with me once & I knew it. During a seesion I could make the seat squeak & my Buddy caught on that he hits me. We start laughing but we knew we must pay attention to the instructions. I tried to make that seat squeak again & it wouldn’t. I knew someone from the other side fixed it & I know nothing can be out of order in the House of the Lord.
