2023 Burning Man
In Black Rock City, unexpected happenings like torrential rain turning the desert into a quagmire made mobility a challenge. Even dropping my iPhone happened, limiting our shooting time to less than half of what was planned. Nevertheless, armed with a media pass and navigating through several restrictions while being mindful of privacy, I found inspiration in the art of Burning Man and created this Aftermovie. It is the moments that are not recorded that are memorable. Most of the scenes cannot be shown to the public, but you can get a sense of the atmosphere. The Burningman community is truly wonderful; it's the kind of place where a lost iPhone on the Playa will find its way back to you. Without it, this film would not exist. The only downside was lending my iPhone charger to a camp neighbor and not getting it back despite an explicit agreement. I want to believe that there was a reason rather than ill intent. If you come across this message and remember the incident, I lent out a Belkin charger, cable, and portable battery-all marked with a "U23KEN" sticker. Your notification would help erase a sad memory.
