A word from Stu-
Saab Unleashed is a channel that started over lockdown and has evolved into a mixture of Saab-related shinanigans, car infotainment stuff and other gadget reviews.
I've been doing these reviews for a couple of years now. The reviews are always based on my personal opinion and are NOT paid for by the manufacturers. This should be fairly obvious because I always talk about any negative points of products.
Sometimes I buy head units to review; sometimes I reach out to manufacturers asking them to provide me with a head unit to review, and sometimes they reach out to me. It is important to me that everyone knows that these free products will never change the outcome of my opinion, or the head unit final scores. If there are issues, believe me, everyone will know!
My intention is to ultimately create detailed, honest and matter-of-fact reviews for consumers and enthusiasts, not advertisements for the manufacturers.
Nowadays, I try to use affiliate links in the video descriptions wherever possible. Most of them are not affiliate links, but there are some, such as those directing to Amazon or eBay. This means that if you use one of my links to buy something, I might receive somewhere between 1-5% of the value of your purchase from the retailer (obviously no cost to you).
I set this up because running this channel costs money via video editing software, music licencing, (not to mention buying head units and most of my evenings and weekends!) and I don't get paid for the reviews.
Anyway, I appreciate all of my viewers and subscribers and I am open to any suggestions you might have for me to improve the content.

CHANGE DPI SCALING THROUGH DEVELOPER OPTIONS: Settings > System > Developer Options > 681232 > (under drawing section) Smallest Width > Set to 480, or 520 etc. (default is 720) If you encounter an issue where the home launcher doesn't show after changing this setting (probably too low), swipe down from the top to open quick setting tiles to access the settings app again and change the value to something higher. I tested this on the regular 720p CC3, not sure what the default value for CC3 2K is so just play around with this setting.

Although it doesn't have side volume controls it has the top right button, but it also has onscreen gestures. So use 2 fingers swipe left and right turns the volume down and up. And I can say after using it for a bit it actually works better than looking for a small button to press.

    1) What is this "top right button" your're talking about? Physical? Touch? I don't see any… 2) If you can control the volume level by swiping with two fingers, does that mean that one cannot pinch to zoom in or out the navigation map? Or both gestures are possible?

Hope it can help out some folks with the Ridgeline. Also box says China even though we are buying from Dan at Teyes. My guess he is a dealer for Teyes coming out of china. The problem with the CC3 2K in regards to the icons being smaller and Spotify and Waze search bar being smaller is, it will make it harder to use. As a head unit designed for cars, bigger icons are better for ease of use.

Just an update. I've bought the normal T'eyes CC3 directly from T'eyes (not AliExpress) and it is brilliant. Took about 3 weeks from China to UK and was well packed. The screen resolution is really good. Sound quality is brilliant as the EQ has enough adjustments to get the sound that suits you. The headunit keeps memory of the last app you was using when you restart your car the next day. Android auto and Carplay are both wireless which work great as long as your phone is fast enough. Definitely recommend.

Was thinking I might have regretted buying my cc3 when I heard about the new update coming out soon. Seeing this, I have no regrets, as I got the 360 camera, and the large icons mean I have slightly less squinting as my eyes are slowly getting older and can see older users would benefit from larger text. My only complaint would be, when starting the clock instead of going to the default time display, I could change the default to analog clock. Otherwise, love the unit.

IMHO, CarPlay definitely looks better and more usable on the 2k screen. But the opposite is true for Android Auto and the whole Android interface. A higher PPI just makes the icons and text a little too small to be easily viewable on the head unit.

On the back of your reviews I have just fitted a CC3 2K to our 2013 Merc Sprinter. Superb sound. Great screen. About to fit the rear view HD camera. You were positive about the Teyes car app. It’s a gimmick. DAB sounds superb and picked up 63 stations (DAB Z) before the antenna was grounded. Installation instructions are pitiful (one side of one sheet) but there are online videos. Teyes launcher radio does not support DAB. My Sprinter does not have canbus controls and the HU wouldn’t start until the supplied module was added to the supplied loom. Very impressed so far but think I need to mod the UI or use another android launcher. Thanks for the reviews.

I consider your opinions valuable with regard to android head units and am asking for your advice regarding which head unit I should purchase. After watching your reviews, I have decided that the Teyes CC3 was the right head unit for me. I went to their website and there is two particular packages of interest to me: the non-2K CC3 (6GB + 128 GB); and the CC3 2K (3GB + 32GB). Given these specs, which one do you think is of better value (there's only about $15 CAD price difference between the two). Hi Guys, I have just gotten this installed on a Suzuki 2014 and it works perfectly. I accidentally ordered the 3gb model instead of the 6GB ram but it still works amazing (I wanted the higher Ram) . Other than the odd 1 or 2 sec glitches, everything works perfect including steering controls etc.I also got the DVR and reverse camera. Both are really good quality and much better than stock. It's superfast 99% of the time which is awesome! I would only say that if you are looking for big icons, i couldn't find anywhere to change the resolution so you are stuck with the 2k and then the icons are actually quite small. Especially the volume control at the top right etc seems quite small. but I use the steering wheel control for that anyway. Android auto worked wireless from the get go. Didn't even have to set it up with wired setup first. I have a note 20 Ultra. If you have any questions, happy to help. I did get it installed professionally so can't comment on that but anything else, drop a question!. Also, @Saab Unleased, thank you for these videos. I've seen a few mentions of wireless android auto for the CC3, but not much technical info about it. What Android version do you have on your Note? I'm assuming 13 probably. Wireless android auto seems like it's available on a lot of high end head units, but not all Android phones are able to use it, so I'm not exactly sure what's required from the phone to use wireless android auto. I actually was planning on buying the CC2 Plus then getting a android auto dongle, but if I can use wireless android auto, it wouldn't be worth adding the little extra money to get a dongle for it.

Dpi can be ammended to provide larger icons. The issue with android headunits like most exclusive items is that they are made by one or two factorys and that it is. The units themselves are made to a price point. Hence the issue faced with the microphone which is generally poor shielding and that the internal microphone doesnt turn off when you plug in a external.

Unit looks great but just a note: In the time it took to ask a question of T'eyes support and receive a reply the price, of the already costly unit, had risen by close to 23%. I'm going elsewhere, be very wary of companies that do this (NB: the price rise in a little over a week cannot in any way be attributed to exchange rates)

Seen a few of your videos now and the Teyes certainly seem to be the best of a very mixed bunch. Unfortunately both myself an Teyes are struggling to find a head unit that will retrofit into my 2008 Mercedes CLK500 W209. The process appears to be quite a leap of faith in terms of physically fitting it within the dash. I might just be about to give up !! Shame.

@SaabUnleashed Thanks for all the thorough and well produced videos, you are the best in this space. I have a couple questions: 1. Any plans to show the CC3 2k with 360 cameras that recently dropped? 2. With 360 cameras, can the rear camera, or any/all for that matter, be upgraded with better cameras? Either the Sony ahd cameras sold through Teyes or from other sellers. A higher quality wide angle feed seems like it would allow for a better 360 view.

Can you check how this head unit works with OBD2 adapter in the car, e.g. with Torque Pro or Car Scanner apps? Usually these head units have a single Bluetooth chip which does not work correctly for many people when trying to use it with OBD adapter, because I guess it is configured to be used for Bluetooth audio. For me personally the ability to use the OBD data from the car is very important, so I would not buy such head unit if it does not work properly with OBD adapter. I think that this is why ATOTO head units have multiple Bluetooth chips

LTE portion on the unit worked out great for streaming music, digital music output though spdf and coax was great minus downside of under 20hz was a huge cut off which it wasn't good for many of audio users.

Yep. I started out with a touch screen only Carjoying model in my Amarok. It died within 2 years, and I replaced it with a model with physical buttons. It gives up an inch of screen but it's so much better. Actual volume knob. Maybe if you had steering wheel controls it might be different, but without that, you need physical controls on the unit IMO. Now the wifi no longer works which is so annoying. So I'm back in the market for a new headunit.
