2023 BMW X1 | SUV Review | Driving.ca

The third-generation BMW X1, arriving as a 2023 model, wears sensible shoes. No contentious styling here. It’s upright and practical, and compared with the outgoing model, this newbie is 43 mm longer, 24 mm wide and 44 mm taller. More room for you and your stuff.
BMW could have slapped on the big ‘ol bucktooth kidney grille that adorns many of its latest models, but it seems with its tidy new entry-level SUV, the automaker is playing it safe. That’s not to say the 2023 BMW X1 is a dullard.

Drove this car with the 23i engine last week. Wow, what a car 👍. We have already had 3 different gen X1:s (now we have 2021 25e) but this again was able to raise the standard. Silent, great dynamics, feels top notch quality. No cheap plastics. Will be a great seller. Btw. about depreciation, we paid for our 25e 55.000 eur. It has 48k km driven and we were still offered over 40k for it, so at least the earlier generations keeps its value really well. Expert score on base of having driven hundreds of different cars: 8,5/ 10.

Took delivery of this new X1 a few months ago. It’s been absolutely brilliant as a family car and we love it. The voice control works great 👍

Did I hear him say Direct and Port fuel injection? That’s Toyota Reliability. Good job BMW, now I’m interested. ❤

I drive an X-line X1 with 18” wheels, sport seats, lumbar adjustment, heads-up display, panoramic sunroof. Car is agile, comfortable, and roomy. Main complaints? Does bump on rough roads and feels like a massage machine on washboard. Drivers manual doesn’t cover nav and entertainment- must consult on board cryptic maze of instructions. From a stop, must educate yourself on throttle use to lessen lurches or lags.

Lack of physical buttons/controls is an instant deal breaker.

Unfortunately the reviewer hadn’t done his research, the i4, which I know a lot about, has the same system 8, which has a very robust voice command system which is quite brilliant! Never bother with the control dial just say “Hey Bmw, turn on the sport mode” or the heated seats, windows down, I’m cold to turn climate up. However in Canada I’d go for something seriously good at off road if you have really bad weather conditions…….new LR defender or discovery

I thought so, too. I have a Taycan 4S with mostly only touch-screen and it works easy without any problems. The steering wheel has many multifunctional buttons.

Massive depreciation, tiny dealer network, overpriced option packages and insanely expensive service costs. Sorry folks, hard pass on this one 👎🏼 Expert Score - 4.5/10 👎🏼
