Matt’s speech at 35:42 gave me chills, and I don’t even go there. He obviously wasn’t talking to me at all, but the speech still spoke to me incredibly strongly. My group is nowhere near the level that Avon is, but we are the best winds group in Nebraska. We medaled last year, getting third place, making us the second group (the first group being my schools winter guard who won SA in 2016) to medal at Dayton. This year, in prelims, we got first in scholastic a. For this reason, a lot of us were disappointed when we got third in finals. That speech made me realize how wrong that mentality is. We broke 90 at world championships, and became the only Nebraska group to medal twice, let alone consecutively. Not only did we follow up our show, but we surpassed it, beating our previous score by more than 2 points. Along with that, I am extremely proud of our show, and the audience reaction that we got. I had so many people complement our show (the one with the trikes) even after far better shows had been played. Overall, I had so much fun this season and I can’t wait to come back to Dayton next year!

ugh, already missing winds season! y’all killed it, i loved seeing it week after week and seeing the show evolve

That World Drumline, especially the drummer and gosh, that Indoor Winds, especially that one baritone sax… 😁 my kids. It’s impossible to watch these shows and not get a frog on your throat. Nothing like the Avon HS music program. And God bless the staff, you guys are amazing!

Good lord.. imagine having THAT MUCH musical talent in one school AND having a WORLD CLASS staff and oh, some dude named Harloff. I think back to my high school days and this is simply incomprehensible.
