I’ve noticed in the tight technical sections that I turned my idol up about 200 RPMs. It’s not much but it helps big time in those slow technical sections with clutch modulation. Oh wow what a bike I have the 2023 model with the competition ECU kit I want the 450 now.

Yup I’ve got the 2023 an I love mine only in Canada it come really restricted but the competition kit is available witch I got right away it rids more like a yz power wise it’s a beats in the bush it will do what ever and more I throw at it

Well I’m back to my original dilemma WR-250 or WR-450 I’m a large man haven’t ridden since I was a kid though but losing weight and getting back into it again here in a bit

Go with a 250. If you haven’t ridden (even if you have recently) a lot, don’t think about a 450. The only places you need 450 power is on the sand dunes, snow bike kit, or mx racing. I bought a dream bike crf450x last year and had it less than 6 months. My brother bought a crf250x and it had power to take any size (we’re both 230-260 lbs geared) person wherever you wanted. So much more fun, enjoyable ride. Want to pop wheelies at 30 mph without trying? Get a 450. Now try to manage 450 power on trails or poking around not riding flat out. It was scary, hard to manage power. I know much more experience riders who will not ride 450 bikes.

Also, I ride a dr650 for reference. I rode the same trails with both the 450 and the 650. The crazy power of the 450 was harder to handle, the 650 is more “tame” power, being an air cooled bike

Damn man you got me scared shitless now bout even going near a 450 and you’re not the first I’ve heard say that things power isn’t as linear as they used to be. I ain’t tryna bust my ass on the trails and really don’t care for sand dunes (live in the south anyway this shithole doesn’t have any sand dunes that I can see haha) but I’ll be honest what scared me was my weight I’m losing and plan on getting back to my old weight but I’m sitting at 250-260 right now so I was worried that bike would suffer with my fat ass on it

@@ronr8687 if you go with a 250, adjust suspension and rip it! The crf250x would pull wheelies all day, just not the kill-you-now kind of power of 450. If I was bulletproof and 18, I’d still have the 450x. In my 30’s, I’m learning that having fun also means not breaking bones haha.

See that’s me I’m old man just turned 31 myself and I ain’t with all that crazy shit like I was years ago now and I honestly don’t care about wheelies they’re fun she’s just walking the bike ain’t everything riding trails and fire roads is what is wanna do

There should be a lower kit down to 32" seat height for WR250F/ 450F, WR250R, YZ250F/YZ450F, YZ250X, and all off-road bikes from Yamaha.

If I didn't have my KTM200 2 smoker and I had to buy a 4 stroke, I'd buy the WR250F.

You were riding the wrong WRs, I started on A 78 IT 175 then 200s in the 70/80s nothing sluggish about them then matter of fact in my class I wone over A lot of MX models. This was before the it has to b a mx model BS took hold of Wich i didn't mind in my class (the more on the wrong bike in my class the better). I don't even consider the FX A good choice for the Southeast as the gearing is too short and the power delivery just sucks for the wood's especially tight woods sections.

Nothing big. Just engine head is new the ecu is kinda new and The frame is new for 250

@@Freklund I have the 2021 XT250 which I like a lot but would like the WR250R. Didn't want to buy the WR then have to spend more money lowering it just to be able to ride in. There's a lot of nice bikes out there but unless you have a 40" inseam your feet won't touch. I'm sure I could ride the WR without lowering it but I don't want to do a circus act every time I stop.

Lots of people think the need 450s, very few actually do. Many people have told me they need a 450. None of them were even capable of out riding a 250.

Haha no it's not ... I race in enduro and I dont want to drive a machine that cant cope with a mx track. Its a really good way to test your speed, cornering and suspension in a way you cant in The Woods. Also it good to ride both for maximum training and this bike can do that compared to other enduros

@@Freklund Wrong, I'll tell you why they are testing an enduro bike on a mx track. Its because the WR is basically a rebadged motocross bike and they absolutely SUK at enduro. Thats why you never see any out in the hard enduro areas.

@@RIPPERTON fair point. I wouldn't say they suck, but they're not at the level of the euro bikes. It's a brilliant greenlaner, occasional Mx bike, field bike, endurance racer, etc and it'll do so far more reliably that any KTM. Sure in the woods an exc 300 is way better, but as an all rounder I'd take the WR

@@RIPPERTON have u driven one ? Or is this just a feeling ? I had ktm,husqvarna and husaberg bikes. The 300 2 strokes are good for extreme but not everyone drive extreme enduro races 🤣🤣 crawl ut from the cave. Its a perfextly fine enduro bike and a allrounder. This is fact as well, every guy that likes ktm branded bikes cant see anything else and have the need to always talk about hydro clutch and so on.. you arnt faster on a ktm than a yamaha in The trails that for sure

The WR250F and WR250R are perfect bikes. Those 500lb bikes with almost 4' seat height made for "enduro" never even leave the streets. Kinda like those big jacked up 4x4's with huge mud tires that you see on the highway. So clean you could eat your diner on the undercarriage.
