    Such a pleasure to learn these informative videos’s. Do you recommend 177’s for an intermediate casual .6’ …200 lbs . Again thank you for taking the effort

    I think it depends ab bit on your preference and style of skiing. But in the all mountain category you’ll go with a length from nose/eyes to body height. So 177 cm fits for you. If you want to use the sky more race like maybe the 182 would fit to. From the intermediate perspective I think the 177 would be a good choice 👍🏻

    Hi Derek! In general, yes, 177 cm is going to be a great length for an intermediate skier around your size. Have a great season!

    Thanks for the review? How does it compare to the Laser AX? I did not get along well with the Laser. Tried the Deacon 74 next. Much better, but too much sort turn oriented for my taste. looking for a fun front side ski for variable turns. mostly medium turns.

    One of the biggest differences is the Deacon feels little stiffer than the Laser AX. Deacon 80 should feel more responsive to you because of that flex characteristic. Great ski for making a variety of turn shapes thanks to 3D.Radius.

    Kia Ora (Hi) from South Island of New Zealand, great review thanks, enjoying all your reviews. So Deacon 80 or 84? I'm male, 54yrs, 5'11, 210 pounds, between intermediate and advanced, more front side groomed these days. Really want to develop my carving. Many thanks.

    Hey Tim! For a developing skier like yourself who's looking to improve their carving, I think the Deacon 80 is a great choice. It's a little more forgiving and easier to manipulate than the 84, while still having a very high performance ceiling.

    Would you say the glass construction versus the titanal is better or worse or just different. I’m 5’9” 170 I ski mainly frontside groomers east and I take a few trips out west every year. I would say I’m and advanced skier. Any recommendations would greatly be appreciated thanks.

    Just different. Both skis are great. The Deacon 80 comes alive at slower speeds than the titanal versions, which is nice for skiers who stick to more moderate speeds and pitches. The Titanal build gives you more vibration damping and a more powerful feel, but it's not as easy to ski.

    Can't decide between this and a Völkl Racetiger RC. I think the Deacon 80 is more forgiving and better in slow and slipped turns than the RC, correct? Or is the only real difference to approachability between these two the 80mm vs the 71mm ? The Deacon 74 is whole lot more stiff and intense than the 80, correct? 74 and 80 in the deacon line is not really the same ski at all?

    Hello! You're pretty much spot on here. Deacon 80 definitely more forgiving and with easier edge release than the RC. Also, yes, Deacon 74 (also 72, 76, 72 Master, 76 Master) and Deacon 80 (or 84) are kind of misleading having the same name. They are very different.

    Some websites claim it's a mix of titanal and glass. Could you clarify this moment?

    Glass frame, rather than titanal frame, and some steel inserts, actually. So, it is a mix of metal and fiberglass, but it's not titanal.

    Hi, I really enjoy your reviews, thank you. I am intermediate skier, really want to improve. I am 185cm and 85kg, What size should I look for, 172 or 177, any recommendation is appreciated?

    I'd go 172--no real need to upsize on this ski given your stats and application.

    How would this ski compare to an Armada Declivity 82ti?

  • @SkiEssentials

    @SkiEssentials

    2 жыл бұрын

    Deacon 80 feels more carving focused. The Declivity has a little more versatility built into it. Moguls, trees, etc would be much easier on the Declivity, although I think it's also fair to say the Deacon is more responsive and more precise as it has a slightly longer effective edge.

    Besides the 1mm waist, whats the difference in a Deacon 79 and Deacon 80?

  • @SkiEssentials

    @SkiEssentials

    2 жыл бұрын

    Biggest difference is construction. Deacon 80 uses glass frame and steel laminates, Deacon 79 uses 3D.Ridge and steel laminates. Glass frame is a newer construction method for Volkl and results in a more precise ski and one that's a little stronger on edge. The Deacon 79, however, is still a more approachable and more forgiving ski for intermediates.

    The 2022 D80 has 3Dridge also, as well as the triple radius cut. For an advanced skiier, its stiffness, hardpack grip and its ability to respond to technique to alter turn radius without washing out is a definite step up.
