I have a premium with a JBL spare tire sub. I have the head unit set to powerful with virtual stage enhancer set to high, Bass -5, Mid 8, and treble 9. Using the sub to pull the bass out of the factory door speakers, it’s actually a pretty well rounded system. I can turn it up all the way with no distortion and it’s crystal clear. FYI just incase anyone was looking for an upraise suggestion.

I think I would take the Honda 8-speaker base system over this but only by a slight edge.

I noticed you can make it sound a lot lot better when you play with the settings for it. The big thing was moving it back a bit so it uses the shitty tweeter speakers less.

I’d love to see what you think of the oem+ Audio speakers on this chassis

I've tested the same 8 speaker in the BRZ. What I noticed it produce the best sound using usb digital media. Then bluetooth and only then the aux. The sound produce from usb media was almost double the performance from any other input. And it was quite decently produce. Almost like there is built in sub in the car.

DM Sound, do you think that the system would sound better with a Cerwin Vega 12-inch spare tire subwoofer?

Here in my country, all the Japanese brands equipped their cars with base sound systems except for the higher end models. Mazda3, Honda Civic, Corolla, etc. aren't equipped with Bose or JBL. So just imagine paying all that money and have to settle with this level of audio system. Sad.

The 2012 Scion FR-S had a pretty decent audio system, so it's disappointing that this is disappointing.

even then, its not particularly great. I've heard it in person and its not like, impossible to listen to or anything, but its definitely not good.

7:30 Subwoofer is an option when building the car

You should be using USB as a source for audio. It will produce the cleanest sound in any car systems. Most dsp’s are only compatible with digital signals. Digital to digital, not analog (headphone Jack) to digital. You will have more distortion and compression otherwise. Also, Toyota probably put no sound deadening at all in these cars. Those doors are echo and base canceling chambers. If you put some dynomat in the doors I bet you it would sound 500$ better for 250$ worth of labor and material.

They need to keep they weight down - that's more important for this car, so if you really need something - you add aftermarket

Sounds fine to me but if you come out of a 12 speaker stereo system it obviously wont have the full acoustics or bump of a subwoofer

I just care about the sound of screeching tires. It's music to me.

the cabin noise wasnt that bad as what people say. i thought the lack of sound deadening within the car would make the driving experience with music would be less favourable compared to comfort cars. thank you for the video

D-tier audio in a Subaru...say it ain't so (curse you Clarion, curse you)...well, I guess that gives everyone an excuse to buy axle-back muffler deletes or a Tomie Ti Expreme or a Remark R1 single exit.

Nissan knocks it out the park with the Bose sound system and they add a whole subwoofer in the back, my 370z touring sport sounds 100 times better than Toyotas sound systems they be using
