I can't help but feel sorry for Kamna...so near yet so far...but the last 200km was brutally steep for him to sustain the lead. And Pogi..what a burst of speed and power right at the line to the shock of Jonas who can't believe his eyes and just froze after crossing the line!

I'm spitting out my lungs just by watching it. That boy is something else, out of this world, absolutely incredible tactic and performance.

Pogacar and Vingegaard will battle it out to the end for the victory of this year TDF, with Pogacar having a slight edge at the moment. Cant wait for more epic stages to come with those two. Longer (though still steep) climbs are on the menu in the 2nd and 3rd week!!!

Vingegaard has no real chance against Pogacar because he is from Denmark and there is no mountains and about half of the Tour is in mountains. Pogacar on the other hand was riding in the Alps all his life because he lives next to Alps. He is used of extremely steep roads.

Vingegaard went fully into the red zone just to keep up there and Pogacar curb stomped him at the finish and still had gas left in the tank. Vingegaard almost fell off his bike. As much as I'd love to watch the race you described, it doesn't line up with reality.

I believe that if Jonas didn't attack Tadej, Kamna would have been gifted the stage for his gallant effort (coz he wasn't a threat to the Yellow Jersey). But Pog didn't have a choice but to counter and in the process passed the poor cyclist who didn't even make it to 3rd. Kamna lost but he sure won my admiration.

Why? You can't win on a climb when you are on the run the entire stage and you are only a minute ahead from cyclist that are the best in climb. Jonas is from Denmark where the highest climb is the bridge over the river and is 25 years old. Primož is from Slovenia which is mountainous country, so plenty of training since young age (well... Primož was not the cyclist from young age like Tadej, but he was a ski jumper from young age and they train legs all the time), but is 32 years old. Tadej is also from Slovenia and is 23 years old. All of three of them are tall around 175 cm. Shorter you are the lighter you are and so you climb easier than taller cyclist.

very interesting question. considering that literally everybody was on drugs during lance times (like the top 75 rider maybe not) you must question how people become stronger and fitter than ever. to be frank, i wish they are all on drugs and it would be legal as i wanna see the best rider, not the guy with the best genetics is beating the hard working guy because he can't keep level, but that's another story.

Sure mate, sure. Any proof of that? Pogacar is an elite climber. He grew up in a mountainous country. Also you can't expect to win a race leading the whole time (and thus using more energy) when the best climbers are saving theirs behind to attack at the end.
