Tip on installing those slip lock washers, take a pair of needle nose pliers and just bend each tab on the washer up a tiny bit and the washers will be much easier to install and they will still bite the plastic stud, this will allow you to fully install the slip lock washers all the way and the garnish will be seated correctly. I think some of the people having problems with the TSS sensor reading correctly is because they did not fully seat the slip lock washers on the two studs of the garnish.

This video on how to install the TRD Pro grill is the most helpful. Thanks, man!

Thanks for the install video! I saw this and ordered the same grill and garnish from taco troop. No problems with the order or install. That was a great tip to use the socket on the star nuts! It worked great!

Hello, can you add those lights if u changed your grille from SR5 to TRD Sport? Can you have it even though u have the Tacoma SR5? With the TRD Sport grille just like urs?

Thanks for the easy to follow video! I just did mine this AM using this. I’m assuming the left over screws don’t work with the new grille except 2. Well that’s what happened to me but the grill still worked lol.

What is the size for the tacoma piece you put to the grill? I know there is 4 screws but I didn't recieve them in my package. And I was gonna Dremel those edges so the toyota piece can fit better.

Lots of people doing this mod. It does look good but I like the stock grille as is.

Looks amazing bro! I’m thinking of getting that same grille for my Tacoma TRD Sport. Did you have any issues or lights pop up on the dash? Also what wheels/tires are you running? Any leveling/lift kit? Good lookin truck!

Have you had any issues with the garnish oxidizing or turning yellow due to the being in the sun. Ive had mine for almost a year and a half and its turned greenish yellow. Im thinking of buying a new one and adding tint to it, maybe that would help.

Star nuts are a pain in the ass!!!! So hard to take off and my stupid garnish came with only one

I've been wanting to switch mine out but I like the look of the OG grill.. also not a huge fan of the look of where the sensor goes.. That's what throwing me off lol.

@willyota Good job on taking time to look up the star nuts! Looked like your old grill had the front camera mounted to it but could not see it on the new grill. I understand the system will recalibrate, but does the front camera still work?

The garnish helps the sensor with a smooth surface to see through and protects it from rocks and debris. I do wish there was a better way, but you don’t notice it after awhile

Not bad. Your right thr trd pro grille is overplayed but does look good. I am looking for something in a different direction just because I like to be different. I'm even looking into making my own out of aluminum and maybe custom color anodizing. I am a welder fabricator by trade so just need the time.

Original gril looks more modern and nicer than one you installed...
