2022 Our Viking River Cruise Grand European Tour Sails Off from Budapest
October 10, 2022. We arrive in Budapest from Prague to begin our Grand European Tour with Viking River Cruises. Before the cruise, we tour the city of Budapest, on foot and in a coach. Finally, we spend some free time to shop souvenirs before sailing north 1000 miles on the Danube, Main and Rhine rivers.

I agree. Thanks for your comment.
We are scheduled to take this tour in mid June 2023. My wife sometimes needs to use a cane or wheelchair (folding transport type) to enjoy the sights. I am primarily interested in the Panoramic Budapest tour you took. It appears that the Pest side is primarily by bus, and the Buda side might require some walking. Your video I saw shows people walking down some stairs to a lower level of a church. Can you comment on how much walking is on the Pest side ... how long the Bus ride is? ... how much walking is on the Buda side? Other than inside buildings, can you describe the type of terrain that the walking entails? Thank you so much for this informative video!

Hi Paul. "Panoramic" tours mean sightseeing by bus. You will disembark the bus for short walks, photo ops and restroom breaks. You may opt to explore more of the city on your own by foot, or join the bus on its return to the ship. In Viking's litany of excursions, panoramic tours are typically included. No bus for "walking" guided tours. The tour of the Pest side (panoramic) is easy, all flat land as I recall. You and your wife will enjoy it. There was that stairway to the single-level basement of the church. No need to go down if your wife is not comfortable. The guided tour of Buda side was optional (we did not take), though I remember our panoramic tour of Budapest did cross the bridge on occasion, taking us to the Buda side. Thanks for watching.
Hi David, Great video, i wanted to travel October this year (23) Could you tell me if it's too cold and certain food or facilities aren't available?? such as outside decks or tours? It looks like you had nice weather.... Cheers.

Hi. October 10, 2022 was our date of sail. Weather was generally great for travel. No restrictions. As I recall, we were met with rain in 3 ports: Passau (where it rains 200+ days in a year), Marksburg Castle in Braubach and our final port, Amsterdam. But none of our tours were cancelled due to bad weather. You may benefit with better weather sailing a week or 2 earlier. Thanks for watching.
Nice video! The tours you took in Budapest, are they included tour or did you pay for extra tour?

Included. There was a welcome tour on day one of our arrival in Budapest. Then a panoramic tour (boarded coach) the day following. Both included. Thanks for watching.

@@davidromerochannel Thank you! I watched several of your video from your Grand European tour. I hope to see more as I will be taking the same river cruise on Oct 2023
Thanks for the memories. We were on that cruise a month after you. Did you use a drone for the aerial shots? Very cool!

@@davidromerochannel this was a very nice video. We are heading on our Cruise in Oct! can't wait. Did you run the drone from the boat or land? How did you know when you could use a drone and when you couldn't ?

@@stephaniezimmerman9351 Hi Stephanie. I flew my drone from the boat while docked. The DJI drone app includes a "geofence" database which warns you where flying of drone is not allowed for safety and security reasons. It is important not to fly the drone while the boat is in motion. The drone returns to "home" at the location it took off. Thanks for watching.
